  • Good Morning . . .

Up way to early this morning -- had my coffee -- fed the felines -- wondering what to do next. At least the scale is still safely in the corner having his little 'time-out'. Exercise on Thursday is usually a "shop 'til you drop" with my buddy LouLou; but today it just might be "clean the garage" instead. Will see how things feel once I find out what the weather is going to be like. It is only now starting to get light out there.

Hope you all have fun plans for the day . . . see you later . . .
  • Hi again . . .
  • Good morning Linda, we are at the weekend and you are here talking to yourself again. Where does everyone go on Friday? It is 8:30 AM and I am at the clinic and have a load of wash done and in the dryer and I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee. I can sure tell there is a change in the weather coming, every joint in my body is crying out in pain. It is going to be a long day, our regular therapist is gone to attend a 3 day school on new back procedures and the gal that works for him when he is gone can't be here until 2 this afternoon. I should be able to finish my book and get all of my e-mails read and answered . I peeked in on the new "active elders" thread and I might have to jump on there once in awhile too.

Don't have any big plans for the weekend as they are calling for wind and a possibility of some rain, maybe even some strong storms. Am going to get all of my laundry caught up as next week we leave on Friday for our youngest daughters wedding in Colorado. Sure hope this nice weather comes back as we will be out in a pasture for this one. Looking forward to it.

Hope you have a great weekend, and hope the rest of our gang is having fun where ever they are.

  • Linda,

I had to laugh when I read your comments. I've been struggling with the same thing for the last six weeks or so with bouncing up and down a pound or two but going nowhere. Two weeks ago I finally got back to the gym and am going three times a week and still nothing.

Let me know if banishing the scale works. I love the idea and I needed the chuckle so thanks!
  • Hello again . . . So nice to see somebody else to talk to . . . my morning has not been great so far . . . ties into your comment JAX . . .

Started out with great intentions -- Looked at 'Buddy Ball' (admit that I haven't been spending time with him lately) and decided he needed a little air. Found the pump and brought him back up to par.

Dug out the Crazy Frog video; stuck it in the DVD; lots of sound, no picture --"somebody" managed to completely disconnect the video cable and then chewed a hole in it. -- All I know for sure is that I don't chew on wires, so it wasn't me.

Hunted around and found an old cable (Works sporadically at best; but I kept it for emergencies. Isn't it nice that one came along.) Hooked everything up again. Yippee, we have both sound and picture now. -- BTW, I had a couple of cups of coffee in there too and it is now two hours since I started this 'must exercise before breakfast' crap.

Anyway, turned around, sat on the ball, and thought I wasn't going to stop until I hit the floor. The air is seeping out somewhere. Finally just said to the with it . . . Made breakfast, and then came up here.

So much for my morning exercise. Guess I'm going shopping later for another new video cable (don't trust the one that's on there now) and a new stability ball.

Hope everybody else is having a great morning . . .
  • Good Morning . . . It's Sunday . . . I'm talking to myself again. Have a great day, gang. See you later . . .
  • Okay, Chickies . . . welcome to OCTOBER . . . I love this month. Let's all try to make it one of our best ever.

I'm promising myself that I will get moving this month -- as many of you know I really abhor exercise. But I think my magnificently quick weight loss this year (13 pounds in 9 months - give me a break ) reflects the fact that I've come as far as I can without getting into a regular exercise routine. Soooooo, yesterday I ordered two new 'toys' . . .

    (2) . . . http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/pr..._070929_UrbanR

Now all I have to do is (well, wait for them to arrive in a couple of weeks) use them. Actually, as I was doing a little bouncing around with my new "Buddy Ball" (replaced the one that sprung a leak), I was looking around my family/sun room and wondering where on earth I thought I was going to put all this stuff. Will just have to make room, because I know myself well -- out of sight definitely means out of mind.

Anyway . . . weather is not exactly bright and shiny for the start of the new month, but hopefully it will improve. Temperature is a very chilly -1C/30F, but that is supposed to go to 17C/63F. We'll just have to wait and see what really happens, I guess.

Better get a move on, many places to go and things to do. Hope everybody has a great fun kind of day planned . . . see you later . . . :wave
  • Happy October everyone !!! I agree with you Linda, it's time to get this weight loss thing movin. I was up another 1/2 lb this week. I know for a fact that at our house we have not been eating properly. Even DH, who is a junk food junkie, commented this weekend that maybe we should try eating a little better ??? During the summer we find ourselves outside till later and we don't like to eat late so we get by on popcorn or crackers and cheese or chips and salsa, not exactly a well balanced diet since our lunches usually consist of sandwiches and a salad.SOOOOOO, new month, new plans

Now I wonder how that cable got chewed up ??? What a mystery. I love that you banished your scale to the corner, that shoud teach him. I love my ball, I use one a lot at work with my patients and have learned the proper way to use it but also have found lots of exercises you can do on one. Now the trick is to get them done.

Barb glad to hear you went back to the gym, good luck with that.

Hey Carol, Denise, Hy, Cheryl: Sure hope you gals are all doing ok, I miss hearing from you..

Ok I had better go get my vacuuming done, then I will get on the treadmill.
The weather was so nasty this weekend I couldn't walk outside. We had
40mph winds and rain. This morning it is only 39 so pretty chilly.

Have a good day and keep movin !!!! DONNA
  • Man! I am so hungry today. I don't know whats up with this. Already had 500 calories before noon.
    Hi to everyone
  • OH Ann, STOP !!!! I don't want you to hate yourself tomorrow.

Why do we have those days when no matter how much we eat we never quite find what it is we want or we don't feel full ???? I don't like those days and thank goodness I haven't had one in awhile.

Know that I'm here for you, hang in there, maybe it will stop.DONNA
  • Hi all,

I guess I've been MIA for awhile. I have been having a bit of a hard time with my mood lately so although I have been reading I haven't been posting. Luckly it hasn't seemed to affect my eating too much but my exercise hasn't been great. Maybe with the new month things will improve.

Donna - Maybe it will be a bit easier if your hubby wants to eat healthier too. Here I'm the only one and when I watch my kids eating McD's etc., it's hard not to want some junk.

Meowee - Good for you ordering that fun stuff. You'll be movin' and shakin' all over the place.

shrl, JaxBarb, cj_chick and all the other chicks.

    Talk soon,
  • Ann -- we all get those days when we can't seem to get full . . . just do the best you can, Chickie . . .

-- actually that reminds me of a little story that I don't think I ever told you girls --

Long ago (when I was in my twenties) and Far away (when I lived in Toronto), my girlfriend and I shared an apartment. We were a lot alike except for one major difference . . . on a good day, Suzanne, at 5'5" tall weighed 95 pounds. While I was always struggling to stay under 125 (although that sounds awfully good now). At any given meal, she could eat me under the table without hardly trying. But it was those nibbly-type days -- you know, you're hungry, but you don't really know what you want -- that showed me the difference between those of us that always want to lose and those of us that always want to gain. I, naturally, ran around the house eating everything I could get my mouth on, hoping I'd find the one perfect thing that would take care of those nasty 'nibblies'. Suzanne, on the other hand, ate nothing until she figured out exactly what it was she wanted.

    Hi Donna . . . Hi Denise . . .

    See you all later.
  • It's happened. It's FINALLY, FINALLY happened. The scale actually budged. I'm down 1.2 pounds for the week.

I ordered a weighted hula hoop and it just arrived. Has anyone tried one? It'll be interesting to see if I can still move after using it. And if I can actually keep it going. I think I was about 12 the last time I tried a regular hoola hoop.
  • Good Morning . . .

Running a bit late today . . . had to take Jazz in for his regular bloodwork this morning. Happy to discover the sun is definitely planning to shine all day even though it is pretty cool out there.

for you BARB . . . it is soooooo wonderful when that old scale decides to cooperate. I've been thinking of a hula hoop, but haven't seen anything except toys around here. Read an article that said an exercise hoop should be about half way between your waist and your bust-level and even though I'm a shorty, the toys don't even come close to my waist height -- where did you get yours?

    Later gang . . .
  • Quiz Tuesday
