  • Good morning, it is a wonderful day today. Had a really chilly weekend but it is going to get back in the 80's this week with chances of rain most every day. Had quite a thunder and lightening storm last night but not much rain.

LINDA: I'm really starting to worry about you talking to yourself again !!!
Seems like everyone dissappears over the weekend.Your babies have sure
grown, your little family is quite handsome or cute ?? I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling well this last week and then to have a diabetic event to top it all off. Sure do hope you are feeling better soon.

We had our town festival so Saturday morning we bundled up and went to the parade. It got over about 11:30 we ran home and had a bite to eat then headed down to the river to cut firewood. By the time we were about half done it had warmed up enough to go to short sleeves. Love this time of year. Got a BIG load and my back and hands are still complaining. Can't believe how out of shape I'm in for that kind of work. Guess I'd better get to doing some heavier weights when I do my strength training exercises.
I did get that darn scale to give up a lb. this week. I'm happy about that.
Just have to keep plugging away at it.
I enjoyed the post from Lynn, it put things in a little different perspective. We do tend to expect too much from that poor little scale and maybe not enough from ourselves.

Hope all the rest of our gang is having a wonderful day and that we hear from you soon

Be back tomorrow for the "Quiz" DONNA
  • Hi there . . .

Late getting here today -- had to take Jazz (the diabetic) to the Vet for his regular bloodwork this morning -- and then continued on to get some shopping done since I was out and about anyway.

We are having gorgeous Indian Summer weather and it's supposed to continue for a few more days. Definitely hope they are right. Not too sure how I'm feeling today, but at least I slept a little better since I skipped my insulin at bedtime last night (on purpose). My BGL is a little elevated this morning but still in normal range and no nasty little hypo in the night.

See you later, gang -- hope you are all having a great day . . .
  • Hi everyone,

A rainy fall looking day here but I got out for my walk anyway. I kept hoping the rain would make me melt - but no such luck.

Meowee - Your kitties are so cute - I don't know how you can speak badly of them. (hee hee). I'm glad your sugars are better today - I went through many times with my ex when he was either high or low. No fun.

Donna - Isn't it odd how we can do so much in the way of weights and yet it doesn't seem to translate into real life situations?! I hope those muscles work themselves out soon.

    Have a great day,

I still sniffed the mimeographed paper when I started teaching. By then I didn't think I was getting high I just loved the smell. Now it's just boring photocopying.
  • Hi Gang . . .

I had a terribly restless night last night . . . my second without a shot of insulin. Up and down all night with terrible leg cramps (often a sign of high BGL). This morning, it is definitely at the higher end of normal. Guess the 'no insulin regimen' isn't working either. To go along with it, since it is my 'official' weigh-in day -- my weight is up too -- think I'm destined to look at 228 on my ticker for ever. Sigh

Hey, now for the good stuff -- Another beautiful Indian Summer day and I got a call late last night that my SIL's oldest son and his wife are in NS (from Ontario) and will be dropping in for a short little visit today. Will be good to see them.

    Quiz answers -- I think -- C / C / ? / A

Nothing else exciting for me . . . hope everybody else has a great day . . . see you later.
  • Linda.
I am a type 2 diabetic and trying to lose weight. I do not do shots yet, Just pills. Trying to normalize blood sugar by diet and the pills. I have lost from 200 so far to 178 or 179 on my scale.
    Have a great day
    Ann
  • Hi everyone,
I'd like to join you for support and friendship as I try to get back on the weight loss track. I've kind of been up and down the scale the past couple of years. I lost down to 203 at one point and got discouraged when I couldn't seem to go under that 200 mark. This spring I weighed 252 and felt terrible- so joined an at work challenge and lost 20lb. which made me feel much better. After the at work challenge ended I gained back some weight and am now at 241. I just do better when I'm dieting with someone to help me stay on track. My real successes have been WW but I just can't afford to join that right now. I'm married, mother of 3 and grandmother of 9. I have 3 cats and love reading, walking, taking pictures, my flowers and our bird feeders(or kitty cat TV) as we call them. My plan is to start journaling what I eat again and doing the WATP. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
    Carole
  • CAROLE, We love having new gals join us. Wouldn't it be great if there was some magical potion to help us lose weight and then to keep it off ???
I have been messing around with the same 3 lbs for almost a year now and I decided last night it had to change. I got out my food diary that I kept this same time last year,WELL, reading through that was an eye opener. Boy did I lie to myself about how well I was eating, who did I think I was kidding. So today I started over AGAIN and now that I've had that talk with the "woman in the mirror" I think we understand each other better and life may just take a turn for the better.

I know that you will get lots of support here. Congratulations on the 20 lbs you lost on the work challenge. We will do all we can to help you out and get you back on the journey to weight loss. WATP is a great program I love it. Let us know what you need and we are here for you.

    DONNA
  • LINDA: I sure hope you are feeling better today and that you can get that
BGL back on the right track. I hate that you might be missing out on the nice fall weather. Have fun with your company.

DENISE: That's funny about the paper, but it did have a good smell to it. With all of our technology we miss out on that good stuff. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Must get busy, getting the clinic ready to host a business gathering on Friday evening, so have to get the dust kitties out from under the beds and the little bugs out of the corners. Washed the windows yesterday.
Hope all of you have a great day and get out and enjoy this great weather we are having. DONNA
  • Good Morning . . .

Looks like we are in for another beautiful day on good old Indian Summer. Nice -- will be doing the lunch and shopping run with my neighbour/friend later today.

Another night with no bedtime insulin and another high-normal BGL this morning. Would like it a little lower, but have to admit that I feel a lot better than when I wake up with a hypo. Of course I also slept a lot better last night too - not worrying about the possibility of a hypo (among other things).

Stupid scale definitely still hates me -- my normal pattern -- Sunday / 226 -- Wednesday (official day) / 230 -- Thursday / 227 -- Sooooo, once again, I'll just leave it at 228 for another week. Boy this gets tiresome.

Had a lovely afternoon with the relatives. They decided to go on to PEI rather than spend the night here since they were trying to see as much of the area as possible in a week. Oh to be young and have that much energy. Wish I had thought to get a picture of my nephew dressed for going outside in a long-sleeved hoodie, neckband, full beard, etcetera. Looks so weird. Poor guy is allergic to the sun (no, he is not albino). Five minutes of sun on his skin and he's literally covered in blisters. Can't remember what the condition is called, maybe I'll look it up later. As his wife says -- he looks like a nerd, but at least he's outside in the fresh air. He even has a 'disabled parking' permit because of it -- but most of the time won't take advantage of it because he finds it embarrassing to get stared at even more.

Great big for both ANN and CAROLE. So glad to have you joining us on this long winding road to better health and fitness, Chickies.

Nothing else is new around here. Have a great day doing lots of fun stuff, gang . . . see you later . . .
  • BTW . . . ANNE . . . Just wanted to let you know that we have a special Diabetes Support Forum (I'm also the Moderator over there). Hope you will come and join us over there, too.

    Have a great day . . .
  • Anne: I didn't mean to snub you, please forgive me I must have just looked right over your post, I am sooo sorry. We are always glad for a new member
so we can get even more input into our group. W-E-L-C-O-M-E

    Donna
  • Hi all,

    Welcome Ann ans Carol.
It's always nice to have new input. Good luck to both of you on your journey.

Nothing too new here. A very cool rainy end of October day.

I had my 'girls' at the vet last week for their yearly shots. The first one - although she didn't like it - put up with the vet. The other one - well, I'm not sure what to say - I think the vet might be going into a new profession. She did everything she could to get away - bite, scratch, hiss, scratch, bite - until he finally said, "I think she looks healthy. I don't want to stress her anymore." (do you think he meant stress HIM anymore). Anyway, I'm glad I only have to go once a year.

    Have a good day,
