Just getting started here.

Hello,my name is Joyce.I just started here and am really excited. This looks like it is something I can really get into.
I started at 181 pounds about 10 years ago.Had not been to a doctor in 15 years and ended up in the hospital with a bladder infection. The er doctor gave me only enough med's to get to a doctor.Found out I was in real bad shape.Ended up with 4 different med's and was at the doctors every month for almost a year.Got sick and tired of it and started watching what I ate and did a hour and a half of exercise a day.Lost 36 pounds, got off the med's and quit the doctor.Got down to 145 and felt really good about myself. My Mom died in 2002 and I quit working out and eating healthy.I though "she fought like crazy to live and died anyways" so why bother? I gained back 10 pounds and kept them.
It may sound weird but I am a gym employee.Have been for 5 years.I can tell people how to use the machines, what to eat,why they need to workout and felt like a fraud because I was not practicing what I preached.I started working out again and am trying to eat better but I really need to get into a group where I can talk about things I can't talk about with friends and family.
Hope to make a lot of good friends here.
Thanks,
Joyce

Hi PATTY . . .
Welcome to the Age 50 Plus Forum and . You've definitely come to the right place for lots of support while you travel the lond winding road to better health and fitness. We are glad to have you with us.
OP usually means On Plan or On Program and I think POP means Perfectly on Plan/Program. Here is a list of acronyms you will often bump into around here . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83430 . . . but never be shy about asking when you see a strange one. Somebody will always be happy to help you.
Have you found the dedicated LAWL forum yet . . . if not, here's a link to that area . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=171
Anyway, Chickie, hope you have a great evening and hope that we will be seeing you as one of our regulars in the future . . .

Way over 50
Hi all,
I guess this must be the thread for me as I am way over 50. I am having a good first day of the new me. I have been counting water, and cooking lower fat and my husband has not noticed so far. I decided not to tell anyone that I am trying to take control of my health as I don't want to talk about it and make it the center of my life. For me I think it will be better if I just start making small changes that will all add up. Anyway just wanted to check in and I am looking forward to getting to know those that post here.

Hi GAL . . . to the group and also . . . This is a really great place for support and friendship while you travel down the sometimes rocky road to better health and fitness.
To learn more about us . . . and to tell us a little more about yourself . . . have a look at the Introduction Sticky at the top of the forum. Then just jump on in and start posting in one, or both, of our regular monthly chat threads.
Hope we will be seeing you on a regular basis now that you've found us. Have a great evening, Chickie. . .
