Hi, Ladies. So sorry I've dropped off this thread! The volume makes it daunting, but now I've got a few minutes to read through...
Here, all is going well. Trying to eat well and exercise. Don't have much more to say than that, LOL. Focusing on my trek, which is in less than 7 weeks. Went for a 10 mile "hike" on the road today. Felt good! MrsTryingAgain I hope your husband is doing alright and that you are making headway. How frustrating! But, you rock! Guac it can be hard going to these events and not joining in the party. The whole weightloss process becomes so tiresome. Sometimes you've just got to go with the flow, knowing that you have the strength and maturity to get back on task when it's over. Which, clearly you do! NE Mom Thirst Thursday; I love it!! LOL Hey, down 3-4 pounds in the month is great! Down is down, truly. And certainly better than the alternative... Hey, great job starting up C25K! LuvCats I hear you. I do better when my husband is travelling than when he's home. It's not as if he sabotages me or has any meal expectations. But still, I don't quite get away with eating my salad 24x7... LOL Sheila22 Glad to read that food is going well; I hope that you never did get that head cold... Just saw that there is a new yarn store in town... Thought of you and your busy hands! Oh, and just read that you did get the cold after all. Glad you had the lentil soup on hand! Kelijpa The size of fruits and veggies is just astonishing these days. I bought a green pepper that was bigger than my head (almost). It kind of creeps me out, and worries that here is yet another way for obesity to set in, in our country. Because really, anyone will eat a banana thinking it's 1 serving, not 2, for example... makes me mad. Sum38 Hope you're having a great vacation... I bet you are!! Finland, wow! I've been to Denmark and Sweden on business, but never Finland... |
::waves to all::
Last day with DH home. We went out to breakfast but I grimaced and counted all the points I used. Had to scrimp the rest of the day but thanks to free fruit and veggies I think I'm going to be very close. I completely forgot to weigh this a.m. Realized at breakfast. Wasn't about to weigh AFTER that dutch baby, lol. I did 40 min on the elliptical and also walked 1 mile with WATP so I feel very good right now. Unfortunately DH leaves early tomorrow morning.... at least back to no eating out. Lol newleaf I hear you on the sabotage. Luckily this time DH made a pot of Spanish rice and I ate my own stuff so save for the 2 meals out everything was easy. :) Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. We can do this! :carrot: |
Okay it's been a looong couple of days. Still no news about H getting his pacemaker. We are actually going by his office tomorrow to drop off some paperwork. I'm hoping to check yet again for a cancellation. I'm trying super hard NOT to get discouraged. I know if I get discouraged, he'll get discouraged.
My work schedule hasn't helped either. Work the late shift one day, early shift the next..."I'm to old for this ****" to quote Lethal Weapon. :p I have been eating healthy, drining plenty of H2O, only exercise I got today was running my tail off at work & lifting lots of packages. After a quick catch up, I'm off for a shower & bed. Hoping I can sleep in for awhile tomorrow AM. newleaf: Good job on the "hike". I sooo want to be able to do that with my hubby. Maybe soon. :crossed: Moondance: Congrats on the loss! Yes, slow & steady DOES win the race! Keep up the excellent work!!! :bravo: newleaf & Moondance: Thanks for kinda checking in on me. It made me feel good. I've been feeling a little bit for lack of a better term marooned. I know it isn't true, but it's how I've felt. NEMom: Enjoy your running. It always helps to find something that interests you. It will help in stay on track. Keep up the excellent work! Well, my eyes will not stay open. :tired: Sorry this is short. Know that you are all in my thoughts! I'm sending :dust::dust::dust::dust: to all who would like or need some! Have a great Wednesday!  |
So sorry I have been MIA, not very polite for a new member to drop off the planet! *blush* Just busy with some household projects and a bit of traveling, will get back up to speed today!

Happy Wednesday! :D
Today is DD#2's 16th birthday. My, how time flies!!! What a doll she is...so fun and enthusiastic, stubborn, opinionated, loyal and loving. Yesterday didn't go so well, couldn't get to the gym. As a result I went well over my calories for the day. :-( With birthday today, I'm going to have to take personal time from work in order to work-out. But I figure I'm worth it and I refuse to go two days in a row without. It should be an interesting day food-wise, seeing as how I left all my prepared food (breakfast, lunch, and snacks) on the counter at home. It will be a show of willpower...wish me luck! :goodluck: vegangypsy: We've missed you but understand life's busy-ness! Just stick to your plan!! MrsTryingAgain: I have been thinking of you and your DH, hoping he gets his pacemaker soon! I don't know how you can work a schedule like that...I would be a zombie! Congrats on staying on plan, especially with all that's going on around you! LuvCats: Hope you enjoyed the time with your DH. You're doing great, keeping track of points and staying on plan. That's what will get you to goal in the long run! Keep up the good work! newleaf123: Nice to see you! Always enjoy seeing posts from you, even if you can't personalize every time. Your trek is your focus, as it should be. I'm so excited for you... LindaWW: I hope you consider the running thing. You never know until you try... Your veggie soup sounds great...how did it turn out? |
Hi to all!
Was gonna make Zucchini Chips, but the zuchinis i bought went into the pasta sauce last night. Oh well. Hope they are still on sale at the piggly wiggly. I have made 25 posts and now i want to make a ticker appear. Lets see how that goes. |
MrsTryingAgain: I hope you guys get an appointment today!! You are doing great in the light of everything! Working your tail off at work sure counts as exercise in my book.
vegangypsy: Welcome back. IRL (no matter how crazy it is) has to come before net life. Moondance: Yay on dd's b-day! My dd#2 just turned 21 last week. It is amazing how fast it comes. If your prepared food doesn't require refrigeration put it in the car at night! If it does, lol, put your car keys in the refrigerator with it. ;) Did definitely enjoy having DH home. Not sure how long he will be gone now. I'm bummed because he is going to be stuck in a hotel (he's not a bar guy) for the super bowl... he's a big sports guy. I thought our oldest daughter could have him over but she's made other plans and won't be in town. Granted we don't know 100% DH will even be there but we think he will. Oh well. junem: Ticker looks great. :) Lol I have the required posts but not the required time so I'm still waiting. I'm down almost 2#. Was supposed to weigh yesterday but completely forgot. Today I will definitely exercise and stay OP. Have a wonderful day everyone! :) |
Hello everyone.....haven't been around...Im looking back on the month of january and I see that I accomplished a whole lotta nothing. Really need to kick things up in order to make a difference.....I've been following the BFC diet and have good days and bad days so I"m just stuck in the same place....grrr..so frustrating. Need to get on the ball with my workouts also. Zumba is boring me to tears lately. I saw a kettlebell set advertised at BJ's so im tempted......I think it is a good way to get resistance training plus cardio in at the same time...
I'm going to catch up on everyone's posts now.....I was away for a few days so I look forward to getting back into the groove... |
So, I have been having a lot of musings over the last 1 1/2 days. See my new avatar?? My 13-year-old took the photo of my 11-year-old and me after we just pulled our fritatta out of the oven 2 nights ago (obviously, I cut the 11-year-old out of the photo, but you can see his hand, LOL)
When I saw the photo later that night, I truly couldn't believe it was me. I was shocked at how *thin* I looked. I went so far as to think that the iPad must have somehow distorted me, but I knew this couldn't be the case since my son right next to me didn't look distorted. He looked like he looks. So, ergo, so must I. When did this happen?? The scale is moving so slowly since Halloween, but obviously changes are still happening. When I was at the gym today, I noticed that my shirt hung effortlessly, didn't get "caught" on anything on my abdomen. I know the last time I paid attention, it still caught a little. Again, when did this happen?? I'm seeing a dr that I haven't seen since October and was lamenting that I haven't lost any weight since the last time I saw him. But then I checked my records; I've lost 10 pounds. Again, when did this happen?? I so don't mean for this to be a self-serving post, for you to all chime how great of look (of course, feel free!). I guess my points are two-fold: (1) Body dysmorphia is alive and well! Truly. (2) Even if the numbers aren't flying off the scale, it doesn't mean things aren't happening. The scale is only one measuring stick. So, there you have it. That's what I've been thinking about today. |
Holy Moly!! My son needed some clothes to turn into a Civil War costume so I took him to Goodwill. While we were there, I decided to go check out the blazers -- something I like but don't currently own any, and probably wouldn't buy because they are expensive and not something I really need.
Anyway... I got a 100% silk Talbots blazer and a heavy soft cotton, lined Ann Taylor blazer for $4.99 each. And the best news??? Size 10 and size 8!! I looked at the size 8 and almost put it back, telling myself there was no way it would fit. But it did, perfectly! Body dysmorphia strikes again... |
Newleaf123. You do look great! Not chubby! Congrats on the lower size clothes. Kudos for finding something great at a thrift store. I always think of how great it is for the environment to have one less thing shipped across an ocean, even if I can fully afford brand new.
I just want to point out that you are only a couple of pounds away from a "healthy weight" BMI. So I am not too surprised that you are looking fit and trim. IMHO too many people on here have unrealistically low goals for the scale. And AMEN to the scale not being the only measuring stick! |
No go on the appt. today. But we did get his paperwork turned in & made initial contact. Will call again in a few days, just to follow up. He did have a few dizzy spells & was on the verge of :faint:, but thankfully he didn't. He said his heart has gone bonkers several times, even when we were DOING NOTHING! We went & saw Hansel & Gretel...it was almost a private viewing, only 3 others besides us..and his heart would just race like mad. I'll be soooo glad when he gets his pacemaker so I don't have to worry so much. :(
Took a walk in the park. Ate healthy. Drank plenty H2O. Also did some arm exercises with my 3# weights. Work again tomorrow, another late shift. joy. newleaf: Congrats on the new blazers! Awesome! Good job! :bravo: YUP! You look good lady! Thanks for the inspiration! vegangypsy: We get it here at the 40-somethings. Life can get more than a little crazy at times. We've all been there & done that. I just hope that you are able to do somethings towards your goal, even if it's only "little things". Remember little changes can lead to BIG life changes. Hang in there. Next time we might have to send out the search & rescue. ;) Just check in from time to time so we don't worry! LuvCats: Congrats on the loss! WOO HOO!!! Happy dance for you from me. You go, girl!!! Zumba: So funny you brought up the kettlebells! I was looking at some last night. I picked them up, looked at them & then decided I needed to wait til I got paid. If/when you get them, let me know what you think about them, okay? Thanks! june: You made pasta & didn't invite me? :( I've been craving pasta! H & I plan to make that for dinner this weekend though. I love zucs! I can remember one summer everyone in the small town I grew up in had bumper crops of them. You didn't DARE leave your car unlocked or you'd have a whole box of them in your backseat! If you had a pick-up, like my dad...you were sunk. He'd come home with zucs every time he went into town for something. But I still love them. Well, I'm off to bed. I'm sleepy. Oh, I also got a haircut today. Not a big change, but I really was sick of the hair being in my eyes all the time. It was really bad yesterday when I was at work trying to move boxes & hair kept getting in my eyes. Might upload a pic in a day or two. For now...a couple of pics from my recent walks. :drill::drill: FINALLY, BE HEALTHY!!! KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE!!! YOU ARE WORTH IT!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! HERE'S SOME :dust::dust::dust: TO HELP YOU ALONG YOUR WAY!!! :drill::drill: |
Happy Thursday! :D
Day went well yesterday eating-wise. Didn't go looking for junk because I'd left all my snacks at home. I even saved room for birthday ice cream cake, but DD's cold got the best of her and she asked if we could save it until she feels better. Went to bed with a 300+ calorie surplus! Yipee! We're headed to the mountains tonight for a ski day tomorrow. Our favorite resort (Steamboat Springs) has been getting epic amounts of snow...should be an awesome day on the slopes. MrsTryingAgain: Glad to hear you're making a little bit of progress with your DH. LOVE the pics! Junem: Hi! Hope you're having a great day! BTW, your ticker looks good! newleaf123: You DO look great. I don't know your back story (how long you've been overweight), but if it's more than a few years, the body dysmorphia doesn't surprise me. But the key is you're recognizing it, which means you can change it. We'll forgive you if you want to stare in the mirror more than most people. I recently came across a picture of me from high school. I look so cute, probably as size 8 or 10, trim, perky, etc. When I think back on those days all I remember is feeling so fat compared to others, sucking my gut in all the time, etc. Talk about body dysmorphia!! Congrats on your success!!! Zumbachica: Definitely change things up if you're bored. That last thing you want is to quit altogether. Kettlebells sound like a good idea. Shaking things up a bit should have positive consequences in many different areas! LuvCats: Congrats on the 2 pounds! Glad you enjoyed time with your DH. How long will he be gone this time? |
Morning All,
Just a quick hello to ALL and a health update: I FINALLY got my results back from the endometrial biospy! All is normal. Well, at least no cancer. I still have to have a hydrothermal ablation but no hysterectomy! YEA!!!!!!! |
Gone for a couple days and I miss so much!
Newleaf - You look GREAT!!! You should be so proud of yourself! Zumba - Hang in there. I know I have struggled right along with you but we have to stay strong and keep trying. Mrs.Trying - Your pics are lovely! I really hope that your hubby gets his pace maker soon. His racing heart would scare me to heck. 2FatCats - I am so happy that results are normal. I had an ablation several years ago with no problems. Best thing is it stopped my period for about three years. Alas, it has returned but it was nice was it was gone. Had a snow day yesterday. Worked out in the morning for an hour and then scooped snow for an hour so I know that I got my exercise in even though I was about 200 above my calorie limit yesterday. Back at work today. Did the second day of the C25K program (actually I started on week 2) It was good and am looking forward to developing my stamina and upping my cardio. Scale is still not my friend but TOM should show its ugly head anytime now and so I am trying to hold onto the hope that it will drop soon if I keep on track. Happy Thursday all!!! |
