OK, I'm really bummed. I thought I posted a long reply this morning but now I don't see it.
Too hard to recreate. But I am reading everyone. I'll try again tomorrow! |
I'm reading all you guys -- just have been out of town the last few days and without real access to computer! (So was just reading from my phone). But I'm reading and sending you all lots of...
WILL POWER DUST!!!! (sorry mine doesn't sparkle! ;D) |
Had a good day yesterday...got up early (it was cold as you-know out) went for my walk (50 mins), got a healthy breakfast & was healthy the rest of the day. Today was a day off from walking. I did however do my hand weights to tone my arms. Gotta get the guns shaped up so they DO NOT continue waving after I stop! :o I ate healthy & drank plenty H2O. So even with a "day off" from walking, I'm good.
The other day when running arrands I looked a new scale. I wear glasses so I'd like one with a dial that is somewhat easily read. I saw one, Thought I'd try it out...I stepped on it. Darned near bought it right then! It showed me 10 pounds lighter than my last weigh-in! Who wouldn't want a "magical" scale??? So the next morning I stepped on my scale...no change. I don't know why I'm soooo slow dropping the pounds. I'm marking it up to age, it's the only thing that's different. I'm trying very, very hard not to get discouraged & just focus on my elements: healthy/controlled eating, exercise, plenty H2O & support. Last time I lost weight I did this same exact thing & I was loosing like on average 2-3 lbs. a week. It's okay though...one foot in front of the other. I DO feel better. I DO sleep better. Maybe stress also? H has a dr. appt. on Tues. We're hoping to get the results from his monitor. Maybe they'll schedule his pacemaker surgery? I HOPE SO!!! He keeps having heart fluctuations (racing) at night when we go to bed. (NO! Not from that...get your mind out of the gutter!!! ;) We've actually be restraining because of his condition...don't want him to have a heart attack or stroke!!!) I'm ready for him to not be dealing with his heart going crazy. Soon....soon...soon...soon. :crossed: LuvCats: :welcome2: Natalie!!! I love cats too! Got a crazy one asleep on the bed right now! Agatha Noel is a Maine Coon my hubby & I adopted 11 yrs. ago. This group is pretty darned awesome. I like it here. Lots of support & encouragement to be had for all. Hope we can help you in your journey!!! SUM: H always had a faster pace than me, until lately. Now he fusses at me to slow up! I do, so he doesn't try to overdo it. But once his pacemaker is in & the drs. give the okay...nope! He's going to have to try & catch me!!! :joker: Zumba: Don't kick yourself too much about the eating with your friend who's battling cancer. You are probably giving her the best "therapy" around. When battling such an illness attitude & having great, loving support can make all the difference. Moondance: Sorry about your post. Had that happen to be me before. UGH!!! Hope your doing well even so! :dust: Tired. Heading for bed. Tomorrow is my Friday!!! :dancer: :drill::drill: ALL 40-SOMETHINGS! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!! BE HEALTHY!!! ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER!!!! BE AWESOME!!!!! GO!!!!!! GO!!!!!! GO!!!!!! :drill::drill: |
Thanks for the welcome MrsTrying (didn't spot a name offhand, lol). My oldest daughter lives in NO. Cal now (her hubby works for Intel in Folsom). Lol love your kitty ticker.
I hate losing posts, Moondance. It always seems like the long and/or important posts that happens with. Especially when you're a mod/admin on a board where some controversy is going on you are addressing (lol speaking from experience). I tell myself again and again to do a quick C&P before I post but rarely remember. :P Welcome home Olehcat. Travel is definitely one of my big obstacles on this journey. Love the "will power dust." It's been a good day. Did the elliptical and have eaten well. Bought 4 exercise vids (3 of them cheap--10 min solutions and the last a Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds). I'm seriously thinking of getting a stability ball. Need to add variety in plus really need toning/strength training to add into my routine. Guess I'd better get off for the night. Have a good one all. :) |
May I Join?
Hi, everyone! I'm new to this forum but not to weight loss..groan...could really use some support on this final journey toward reaching my goals! :)
I'll post my bio on the sticky thread, just wanted to say a quick hello first. I've been "doing" WW on & off for years, have found it to be the sanest, most do-able program for me, especially since I'm a vegan. Other plans I've tried (and there were several!) do not work for the longterm and don't fit into my plant-based lifestyle. So, here I am again, but this time I'm doing the WW meetings, just just online. I really need the accountability and support. Looking forward to getting to know you all! :) |
Happy Monday! :D
Why, oh why are Sunday's so hard for me??? Dang, I sure snack a lot. Seems I eat for a few reasons: I'm tired, so I'm looking for energy (doesn't work); I'm eating to avoid doing something I don't want to do (clean the toilets or whatever); I eat so I can have a legitimate break (tired of the chore I'm doing). I guess I eat because I'm lazy. How does a person combat laziness? It's a state of mind, right? vegangypsy: Hi and :welcome2: LuvCats: I know lots of people who love Leslie Sansone's videos and have lost lots of weight using her tapes. A stability ball is a good idea! There are a few people at my work that use a fit ball instead of a desk chair (not me!) MrsTryingAgain: GREAT job walking in spite of the cold! Your scale story made me laugh. Perhaps we could just keep trading for new ones until the number says what we want it to! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your DH to get his pacemaker soon. I would be so scared... olehcat: Hope you're successfully staying on plan while out of town! LuvCats: :welcome3: to our forum! Glad to have you here!! It's a VERY supportive group. Sum38: Boy, lots of big events approaching in your life! Europe??? Clearly I'm behind the times and I'm sure you've told all about your trip, but I would love to hear your plans. Sorry about TOM approaching during your travels. I hope you find a rental soon...congrats on selling your home!! Zumbachica: Love your attitude! You go, girl! Have you got others to join your Valentine's Day Challenge? kelijpa: Hope you're feeling better soon. Hi to anyone I missed! |
I've started Day 1 of the 17 day diet. I never thought I'd do a "diet" ever. That's a bad word for me, but leaving myself to my own choices is NOT working and I need a big jump start. At least I can't bear myself creeping back into the upper 140s again, where I should never have gotten to in the first place (I was in the upper 130s for YEARS and I even thought that was too heavy for me but now I'd cry with joy if I saw 130-something on my scale). Anyway, the diet seems reasonable and very healthy. Lots of lean protein, veggies, fruits, green tea and yogurt. I like all those foods, so hopefully this won't be painful. Not supposed to do alcohol, but I will probably cheat on the weekends. If I can just even get so I'm not drinking wine during the week, that would be a coup!
Mrs.TryingAgain - ah, magical scales! Don't you just love them? Alas, I know my heavy-a$$ scale is for real because it matches the doctor's scale exactly every time, *sigh* Luvcats - awww...my niece's name is Natalie and I, too love cats (I have two at the moment). Vegangypsy - hi and good luck! Moondance - ah, sorry about your post! That's always a bummer! I know what you mean about Sunday eating. For me, it's something about feeling like I deserve a treat because it's a day off. |
Welcome Vegangypsy! I just joined yesterday myself.
Thanks for the welcome Moondance and Olehcat. I'm looking forward to trying a variety of vids Moondance. My daughter is excited about the stability ball too. Luckily we are close enough in height to use the same one. I'm also looking for a beginning weights (free weights) vid as I'm feeling at this point I should start some strength training. I will have to be careful as I had a hip replacement 2 years ago but I think it shouldn't be too bad overall. Well I'd better get moving. I volunteer at a local hospital on Monday morning. Have a great day everyone. :) P.S. This place is already more supportive than my WW forum.... the new thread I'm on hasn't even been posted yet today. |
Good morning all! It's getting much colder here, and is supposed to be below 0 tomorrow. I'm going to have to think of something to do besides eat to stay warm!! I did well last week and stayed at my 1200ish calorie goal, but i only dropped 1.5 lbs. I honestly thought it would come off faster at first because I have so much to lose:( I will soldier on and be thankful the scale is going in the right direction though! I know in my head rapid weight loss is not the right kind, but dang it would be nice ;)

Morning all, I went from the cough to the sneeze, but it's def. getting better. Oddly, I can breathe better when I'm out in the cold. Thank goodness it's on it's way out, I hate being sick, won't even admit that I am sick...
A couple different things we were watching featured kettle bells, they look interesting, we might pick some up when we get some extra cash, supposed to be something in the way they are shaped that makes you burn more calories than dumbells. :welcome: LuvCats and VeganGypsy Zumba-keep at it, sounds like things are turning around for you, YAY Sum-best of luck with your trip, hope you get that release, that could make for an uncomfortable trip to say the least just wanted to check in, best to all :sunny: |
I hafta get my big bohunkus to work soon...I don't know why I'm posting...I know I shouldn't post when I'm down...but I'm feeling kinda low  and am hoping it doesn't affect my WL.
I poked around all the forums last night, looking for inspiration & tips, and came across someone's version of 'stages of wt loss'. I've never gotten past the 1st stage: Self-doubt: where you don't believe you can make it work because you never have before. I have a spreadsheet from Jan2012, which was the last time I was 'serious' about WL, and back then, I weighed the same as I do right now (after 2mo of effort). Every single time I put effort into WL, I ended up gaining, so last year I decided to stop trying so hard and just focus on fitness. Obviously, that didn't work either. I know I've chosen the correct path this time, but right now, I'm a whopping 7 lb above my ticker....Gaining....For no good reason...Self-doubt...I know, I know...I have to be patient, and THIS time, I'm not throwing up my hands with an "eff-it" attitude (thanks for that one Zumba!), and I WILL get past this. I just have that dreaded summer event hanging over my head, with that fear of failure and not doing enough to beat the deadline. Why am i gaining? Well, Auntie Flo forgot about me this month, but she sent a few hormones. And the switch off the LuckyK9 regimen to higher carbs is prolly causing water retention. And work stress. I can handle the deadlines and the work, but I have a tough time dealing with the AHs and drama queens. I've been dealing with that crap all weekend--why? because I jumped in to fix a year-long thorny problem that was starting to affect my job. I fixed it in no time flat. I didn't advertise or try to take credit (believe me, I know better!), but someone still got jealous. In my world, you quietly do a good job and your boss and boss's boss get dragged into the situation to 'put the B in her place'. (did I mention I fixed the problem?) Yes, it's workplace mobbing, but I won't let them get to me! Fortunately, I'm pretty well insulated from these jerks and don't have to work around them that often. Hubs purchased the 1st season of Mad Men and that's our late-night special treat now. I had only seen an episode or two on the tube and thought it looked like a cool series. We watched the 1st episode last night. Boy, I remember those days when EVERYONE smoked. My how things change! And the way wimmin were treated and discounted at work! Some things never change. ...sorry for the rant....my little experiment to see if voicing my feelings would help...don't worry 'bout me...I won't be down for long!...DIE! fat cells DIE!... |
Off to a decent start. Good breakfast. Walked. Trying to mentally prepare myself for work. Ready for tomorrow. Have all the questions written up for the dr.
LuvCats: I finally took a good look at your avatar. You cat looks JUST LIKE my aunt's cat! The cat's name is Annie & all she does is sleep, sleep, sleep...for that we call her the sliver (excuse this) turd. Cause that is what she lays around like! Quick rundown on my: Name: Gail, Live: No. CA---Chico CA, Married: Howard (call him H). No kids. 1 crazy, lazy Maine Coon: Agatha Noel. Moondance: I actually more scared of him NOT having a pacemaker. I've been beside him when his heart's gone bonkers...that is more scary. He'll be just relaxing doing nothing & BAM! He may as well be running for his life! I know it can't be good for his heart. Also having him all the sudden black out..NO THANK YOU! Going to go take care of a few things. Like organize laundry before work. Have a good healthy day all! :dust::dust::dust::dust::dust::dust: :dust::dust::dust::dust::dust::dust: |
Hi, ladies. Welcome to everyone new! I am a cat lover, too. Sadly, I'm told by my DH who is allergic, that I'm on my last cat. He's 8 now, so I have a few more years with him, still. However, my DH also told me my cat before this one was my last cat, but clearly it wasn't so ;)
I don't know if you all are following my saga of the size 12 hiking pants LOL. Quick summary: I am going on a trek in Patagonia in 8 weeks (!!) and I bought 2 pairs of hiking pants at 33% off at REI last Tuesday. They were slightly snug but I figured if I focused what was then for 9 weeks, they would fit for the trip. Well, last night I tried them on again and was pretty sure that they were a tinch less snug. Which then motivated me to try on all my remaining pants in my "used to fit" pile. Long story short, I added 2 pairs of size 12 pants into my current rotation, and put all the remaining shorts and capris into my "they fit but wait until summer" drawer! So... in my pile of "used to fit pants" which, when I started this weight loss endeavor, was a really tall pile of pants, ranging from size 16s down to 2 size 10s and 1 size 8, now I've just got the 2 10s and and 1 pair of 8s left to go! I can't believe it!! That pile used to stare at me every time I went into the closet; now it's whittled down to next-to-nothing. Really. Unbelievable. My husband is out of town until Friday. I can't wait to show him when he comes back! Everything that gets too big always goes straight to Goodwill. There's no turning back... |
Newleaf, I myself am allergic to cats..and dogs..and dust..etc etc. I went through extensive allergy testing and treatment years ago b/c I refused to give up my critters. Enjoy the time with your kitty, but I have a feeling it won't be your last. :) WTG on the hiking pants, that is so exciting!
SeeMyFeet, I looooove Mad Men! The clothes..swoon...watching them makes me want to stay OP so I can have cute vintage outfits! kelijpa, and Moondance, thank you for the welcomes! olehcat, I share your passion for wine..sigh...I know it stalls my weight loss so I, too, am trying to cut down. On that note, would like to share a little NSV: I just met some girlfriends for lunch at Olive Garden..groan...am proud to report that I bypassed the wine, pasta, and even the breadsticks! I had a bowl of minestrone, salad and unsweetened iced tea. Woo-hoo! |
Jennifer1966: WTG on 1.5! :)
kelijpa: Thanks for the welcome! Glad you are on the mend. I hate being sick especially when I’m trying to lose weight. Colds seem to make me just want to eat. newleaf123: Thanks for the welcome! I hope you don’t have to consider a new cat for a good long time but I definitely thing you should have another. Lol cats are good for us. :D WTG on your great NSV!!! SeeMyFeet: That stinks the work situation you explained. Good for you to go ahead and fix the problem even knowing you might receive flack. Hang in there on the WL. :) Originally Posted by MrsTryingAgain: vegangypsy: WTG on the NSV! Lol if hubby isn’t home I’m probably going to take 17 yo dd there myself. Won’t be turning the breadsticks or pasta down but I’m going to count them in my daily and/or weekly points and I’m going to exercise that day. Today has been pretty good. Had a salad and sugar free jello at the hospital (we get a meal with each volunteer shift). Tonight’s dinner is planned. I don’t do the elliptical today because I walked quite a bit on my shift but I try to make Monday my only day off. Time to get some work done around the house now. Have a wonderful evening everyone. :) |
