I mean, all evening.
My box (some self-rewarding going on) was there on the porch when I came home from work...craftily looking around, I stole quietly into the bedroom with it. Not even the dogs noticed, I closed the door so gently! I opened the box....
And there they were. My hiking pants, new pack, and cycling/hiking jacket. They gleamed. They purred. They called my name joyfully from the confines of the packing materials.
The pack (day or weekend, internal frame) went on and I had to PULL THE STRAPS TIGHT! I'd initially pulled them all the way out thinking that would be what it took to get it on. There was plenty of room for me! I danced around the bedroom, admiring myself in the mirror with all those straps dangling and flapping. hah!
Needless to say, the dogs noticed and I had to pause for greetings.
The jacket...was a women's jacket. And it was not plus size. It is a Mountain Hardwear size XL, which in real terms is a 16. I was sort of worried, you know? But my top is a little smaller than my bottom, and I figured that I wouldn't be wearing it until summer is a little closer anyway. It is a pretty light jacket. I put it on. I zipped it. I ZIPPED IT! oh la la! It fits, it fits, it fits! And by golly, it's PURPLE. Not dark blue, not brown, not black. It's unapologetically, beautifully, brightly purple.
Just by way of comparison, the last jacket I purchased was about five years ago, also Mountain Hardwear (not from brand loyalty - just the way it worked out), and it was a men's 2XL.
And just to make it all supremely satisfying, I got them on sale for a great price (which is why I ordered them a little before I actually hit the 50 lb/2nd 10 %/halfway minigoal - probably next week).
So I bubbled. I effervesced. I danced a mental happy dance all evening, and now I can hardly wait to put them to use!
