Sorry, total lack of brain-power inspiration for a clever alliteration for the weekend title this morning.
I'm up early to hit some of the after-Christmas sales. We decided to get a half-tree for next year, and they're half-price today. I want to look for some nice wrapping paper and cards for next year, too.
Yesterday was wonderful. We went to my DD's in NJ for a delicious Christmas brunch, then back home again in time to have my parents, Dustin and his family, and Andrea's mother here for Christmas dinner. Today is a breather before having all the family here tomorrow for another big holiday meal.
Good Morning Cottage, Sounds like your christmas was wonderful. Have fun shopping the sales hope you get your tree.
We spent the day with family as well. My mom spent the night Christmas eve and then we went to DH moms for a great dinner with his sister and kids and his grandma. Today we are off to Lake Uptopia to spend the day with Jamies dad and his two sisters and our two girls. I love spending time with family. Well I have to dash and get ready we are leaving in an 1 1/2.
Good morning Looks like it's going to be a slippery, slidy weekend around here.
Cottage - Happy shopping I've got a return but I'm aiming for early tomorrow morning before the serious shoppers are out.
Sounds like a lovely holiday weekend full of family events.
LC - Have a nice visit and rest of the weekend
We are back to normal around here. Serious cleaning, laundry, cooking to be done. My DD bought us a Wii so I'm sure there will be lots of breaks for tennis and boxing Of course we have already ordered the Wii Fit Plus. That's actually why she got it for us - more variety for winter workouts.
Had a nice visit with the parents. They have completely embraced Julie, a rather surprising and very nice turn of events. I was able to stay on plan completely except for a few of my Mom's cookies, which I'd planned for. We brought butternut squash lasagna and pumpkin cheesecake for the full family dinner, egg casserole for breakfasts, and leftovers for lunches. My Mom cooked whole wheat cavatelli the first night and a veggie casserole I will post the second, so good options for us. There was plenty of walking with the dog too.
New Year's Eve will be an at home celebration with some more off plan food, mostly full fat cheese. Then New Year's Day it's back to Phase 1 for me I feel good about the holidays so far. I've had a few things I really wanted like Mom cookies but kept to the fundamentals and should have no trouble getting right back on track. I love this WOL.
Time to get that weekend To Do list made so I know what I'm looking at. If you're in the East or Midwest take it easy out there. Hope you're post holiday weekend is just right.
Cyndi, I don't have a Wii, but we did lots of kick boxing in Jazzercise. Those were always my favorite routines. Low impact, High Intensity. Love it!
Me: I don't know what we are going to do today! I have 4 more days off. Yay!!! Maybe I'll talk Jeff into taking us for a ride. What I need to do, and don't want to do, is go through Auston's room and get rid of some toys. I hate that job.
There are lots of leftovers in the house. I'm hoping all will be eaten this weekend and Monday, I'm starting Ph1 again. Hopefully, the seams of my pants will stop screaming!
Cottage and LC -sounds like busy, but happy times. Enjoy!
Cyndi - We got a Wii as well, and my DH got me the Wii fit. I'll have to fight for time on it though! They're all asleep now, but I need coffee before I exercise .
Me - We had a pleasant day. Ironed out some wrinkles with the Wii (a 5 and 6 year old battling on it!), had a friend over for a meal, and friends over last night. I didn't know the person I invited over was a beacher....I could've changed things a bit!!
Today: rest, maybe a bit o' sales, and play Wii! Enjoy!
Good morning, Beachers, and Happy Second Day of Christmas. Our true loves are sending us two calling birds today and I hope they can make it safely. I am worrying about Jiffypop and Leenie as they drive up here from NJ. Right now we have freezing rain.
Lovely dinner at my son's inlaws' place yesterday. Little kids sure add to the excitement of Christmas. I was home safely by 8:30 and my cold and I went to bed. Advil Cold and Sinus really does work! It doesn't cure the cold but allows you to function.
Everything is closed in Delta today so there will be no shopping for food to feed my guests. From what I hear, they are bringing a carload of food porn but I will make that Chop-Chop salad to have something OP. One of these days I need to re-instate my ticker.
Cyndi- We got the wii fit plus my dd's played it last night and had a blast. It shows your calories burned as well. I have yet to try it but they sure had fun.
Everyone else have a great day. Just snuck back in for a minute we are leaving soon so i have to go I am always the last one ready. and I don't even have the girls up yet.
Have a great weekend! How nice it is to have a Saturday on the day after Christmas. I'm just down for coffee and a check in. We're taking advantage of the day and going back to bed for awhile. It's not too often that happens here.
Good morning! I'm trying to be all enthusiastic with my fingers today, since my voice isn't going to do it. For those of you that aren't on facebook (or just haven't yet added me as your friend on facebook because you find me just that irritating) I am happy to inform you that God's Christmas present to the world this year was giving me laryngitis. You're welcome. Chris is now calling me "Wheezy" like the penguin squeak toy in Toy Story 2. Sigh. (Even my sigh had some squeakishness to it.)
So how was everyone's Christmas? Mine was awesome!!! Went over to Chris' yesterday morning to do presents with him, Anna, and Ginger, then home. Uncle Tim, Ryan, and Kara all came by at noon, and we had lunch. Then we did presents in the afternoon, watched movies, ate dinner, another movie, played games, and all-in-all had a very fun night! I think Chris and Anna are going to come by later this afternoon when Ryan and Kara are back over here so they can meet each other. Plus, Chris has a gift from my parents under the tree.
Taking Oscar to the vet at 12:15 for his ear infection. One of the Davis clan always has to have an ear infection for Christmas. Usually it was Ryan or me growing up, last year it was Dad, and this year it's Oscar Mayer Wiener Dog Davis.
Well, gonna see if I can find something non-cookie-or-candy-like to eat. Hope everyone had a safe and blessed Christmas, and HAPPY BOXING DAY to those that celebrate! Have a great day everyone!!!
Good Morning all! Ah hit one store up early this am to get a tree. We have been doing real trees for a few years now but Im tired of sweeping up needles, watering, and disposing of them after Christmas.
I did pretty stinking well yesterday The only real cheat was what I consider a partial cheat hahaha Pickled red cabbage with my ham ahhh my treat. I mad lots of fresh veggies, and a FAB whole grain/pear stuffing!
Hey guys! I've lost 30 pounds through food changes and exercise over the past 10 months and I've decided that after maintaining this weight for awhile, I want to lose another 10 pounds! So, i'm starting the diet today! I'm going groccery shopping with my boyfriend in a few minutes and i'm excited to kick start these last 10 lbs!
I'm just nervous about energy levels since I work out 6 times a week with cardio and strength training. Minus that i'm just excited!
Well, we came home without a tree. After getting a better look at them, we just decided to hang on to our old tree. There's actually nothing wrong with it, but these new half trees don't have a back and go up right against the wall, which is nice when space is a premium. I didn't find any wrapping paper that I liked, either, but I did get several boxes of really nice cards. And that's all we bought. There are some nice sales going on, but we don't really need anything else right now.
It's ugly out. Pouring rain and windy, and all our lovely snow is melting. Blech. I just changed into my soft, warm jammies and am going to curl up on the couch to read and nap the rest of the day. There's a fridge overflowing with leftovers, so Jake won't starve to death. bless his heart.
Good morning from little Delta where the population has risen by three folks from NJ. They got here safely and in good time - apparently other folks listened to the weather forecast as there were very few cars on the road. They came loaded with goodies and my fridge and pantry are stuffed! I even have some Agave syrup and other stuff we can't find up here.
Today we'll just hang out and take a tour of the area later. It's the wrong time of the year for "pretty" but it may encourage them to come back in good weather.
