I'm just passing through as I took kind of a lazy day today, except for work of course.
And Ammi... yes I was totally serious about looking at your picture to see who the newbie was! You look sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.... face is a LOT thinner and you look vibrant and healthy.. glowing!
Just jumping in here at 11 pm. I had a looooong work day, so I'm pretty tired out today. Ate well today so I'm happy about that of course. Need to get a gooood sleep tonight.
Nothin else to say cause I'm just so brain tired right now. Ugh. Computer fried my head.
WELCOME to Kimpossible! Nice to see you here! You'll like it here and if you need any encouragement we are right here with you
Val: I don't know what you are doing right now with the attorney and the mud puddle etc. but, Huge hugs to you my friend! If you ever need to talk call me. Love ya girl.
Ammi: I have to say you are looking fab! Love your sweet smile.
Sharon: Hi sweetie. Good for you exercising to the Salsa video. I didn't get the house with property but will be closing on a house in the city where we live on 1/3 of an acre yard. Nice house and just right for us cause God gave it to us. I try to be thankful for what I have right now.
I am still trying to exercise daily and still taking that ugly medication for my tongue but only have 2 more days. Thank the Lord it isn't cancer so I will take that ugly meds anytime. It makes me sleep constantly though that is the only problem. So, not very productive right now. lol
Blessings all of you lovely ladies and I hope you have wonderful days tomorrow.
Hi Ladies - Just got back from meeting up with DH after his shift...got in another walk - 29 minutes!! Gonna relax and hang out for the rest of the night....DH got asked to come in to work on his day off tomorrow, so we will be trying to get alot of quality time in before he goes tomorrow. Well, I'm off!
Have a good night everyone!
Stay OP chickies!!!
Well .. now I cant remember who mentioned it.. but someone on here was doing Turbo Jam?? I wondered what it was and looked it up .. found the official site and thought Oh .. only in the US for that one .. will have to wait til it hits our shores then (by then chances are there will be another one out in the US lol) .... anyway .. that got me looking online to see what exercise dvds I COULD get to workout with ... so anyway .. that was last week (or early this week?? no ... it was definitely last week lol) .. and I ordered a few DVDs from an online ordering place and have been waiting for them to come .. but I was still thinking about that Turbo Jam cos it looked like a lot of fun lol ..
Anyway ... another friend of mine got me hooked on Days of Our Lives .. not that I have had much time to sit down and watch it this week (we are years behind the US by the way lol) .. Im rambling .. today I finally sat down to watch it and in the first ad break there was TURBO JAM!!! I thought .. ooooh .. it must be a sign cos I have been thinking about it for most of the last week since I read someone mention it and here it was! So before the end of the ad I had rung up and ordered it! rofl
Its hopefully arriving next week .. so that is going to be my new workout ..
Does anyone else do it?? I am rather nervous cos Im not the most co-ordinated .. but they do say the more you do it the more co-ordinated you get lol .. always liked dancing so this should be fun
Kimpossible--WELCOME! This is an amazingly supportive group of people...glad you could join os!
Brenda--I didn't have any leg cramping when I was doing water aerobics, BUT I had already been working out (cardio on an elliptical and multiple leg weight machines) for a few months before I got into the pool, so maybe my legs were already well-prepared
Nightkatt--how do they check your fat percentage? Is it one of those scales you step on that automatically checks it for you? If so, what it checks is lean mass (which we tend to consider to be muscle) vs. non-lean mass (which we tend to assume is fat). The problem with this is that if you have more water in your body one day, your non-lean mass will be higher. Likewise, if you're dehydrated, you can get a higher lean mass reading than is truly accurate. There are a few other things besides just muscle and fat that affect these numbers, so please don't get too discouraged
Melissa--haha, I used to play on Pogo ALL the time! Now I'm addicted to Zoo Tycoon on my computer and the New Super Marion Bros. on Nintendo DS. Yeah, I'm a dork
Annie--You seem to hate those pills enough, I think you should celebrate tomorrow when they're done I must have missed whatever was going on, but I agree...thank goodness it's not cancer!
About Turbo Jam--I've never done it, but some people I worked out with had coordination issues with Tae Bo as well (which I LOVE, but I seem to have misplaced my favorite video ). I promise, you'll feel like a cadio dunce at first, but it will get better
As for me, I'm just chillin' Work is going pretty well--I think my boss is already appreciating how much I do, since yesterday I found a due date for a proposal that she thought was still in the pre-solicitation stage (which, if it were still in a pre-sol stage, we wouldn't even start working on it, but now we know it's due the 29th). I've been recreating flow charts in Visio for tha past few days, which probably sounds boring to many of you, but I'm lovin' it! And I'll soon get started working on improving a PowerPoint presentation they put together a while back. I LOVE being able to use what little graphics skills I have
I have been completely on plan food-wise all this week. Today is Day 5, so 6 more days till I get my 3 days off (it's 11 days following the menus, then 3 days of whatever I want). I thought it might be hard to do this living with Jeff (last time I did it, I lived alone), but we're making it work, and he hasn't complained at all, which is fabulous
Hello, I am new here, but would like to join you in my weight loss journey. I am 34 and need to lose a lot of weight! I have 2 kids (age 11 and 9) and got married this year!! I am in the final year of nurse training in the UK, it has been a hard two years and now one more to go! Have a multitude of reasons for losing weight - but a couple of things make it tough. I had severe endometriosis and needed a hysterectomy and ovaries out 2 years ago, which left me with early menopause as well as pain that I have been left with. The chronic pain makes it hard to get motivated to exercise, but I do go for long walks and shorter bike rides with hubby and kids, and at work do 12.5 hour shifts on my feet all day. Have been struggling with obesity since eldest child was born - 12 years approx.
Lovely to meet a place where people will not cringe at what I weigh and might understand me better!
Ok so what happened to our lovely weather. Lately it's been warm but rainy too, useless weather especially for getting my washing done. I am going to have to give in and hang the stuff indoors before too long!!
Brenda - good for you for going to water aerobics. The last time I did that was about 10 years ago and I was probably lighter than I am now. I really LOVED it, and would have loved to keep on going. BUT it was a night class that I had to walk to, and that walk involved going past two pubs. So in the end I gave it a miss. I just got fatter and fatter after that, and then divorced, then sick, and I have just never gone back to it. I think I might be interested if the classes were in the day time, but night time ones with no transport are always a bother. Anyway, I am sorry that your legs started to cramp, but good for you for working through the cramps and finishing the session
I think I must have missed a post somewhere because I am not sure what surgery Steven is going to the doctor about. Whatever it is, I hope that the doctor will agree to do it.
Rkrs - or should I say Kenya This is the first time I have noticed you put your name under your post. Save me going to look at the bio page lol and tell me how you got your nickname on here Rkrs?
Sue - Good for you for going swimming. I am sure even if you did leave your glasses on you wouldn't have seen people laughing at you I know what you mean about wanting to do aqua aerobics and there not being a class at a suitable time. I think as time goes on and I want to take up more exercise, aqua aerobics is something I would love to do, but there aren't any day time classes which makes it impossible for me to go
Val - I PMed you back again so I needn't say any more here, just want to give you a
KimPossible - hello and lovely to have you here and I look forward to cheering you on as you head towards your first goal of 50 lbs lost. Congratulations on your engagement, I am sure it won't be too long before you are setting the date and are working towards getting into your dream wedding dress
Nightkatt - you gave two very good tips to KimPossible!!
You had your weigh in and said you are happy, so what did you lose? for whatever it was. Sorry that your fat percentage went up. I don't know how those machines work that tell you what percentage you have got, but I don't want one lol. I hate the scales and I am sure I would end up hating whatever it is you have that works out your fat
Missy - it still amazes me every time I read how much walking you are doing now. I keep remembering how you couldn't hardly walk when you first started here, and now look at you, there's no stopping you
Luan - MSN now has a feature where you can add your Yahoo buddies to your contact list and speak to them on yahoo that way. The message I sent you was done on MSN to you on Yahoo, I guess it must have some bugs or something because you didn't get it. Ok well I shall have to put my Yahoo on more often and look out for you. How's the diet going?
Misti - you said you are having a lazy day, I bet that doesn't mean you didn't exercise though
Well I am surprised yet pleased that you honestly wondered who I was with my new photo. Thank you for the compliments, you know what, how you described me is exactly how I felt when that photo was taken
Angie - hope you got a good night's sleep!
Annie - not long now until you can stop taking the meds, you watch your energy start picking up then, your exercise increasing too, and watch those lbs come flying off
Jill - oooh what is that diet plan you are following. I like the sound of the so many days eating on plan, and then so many off. I don't know if that would work for me though because I think I would eat TOO much on my free days.
EmilyMay - hello and lovely to have you here. I know what you mean about not having any motivation to exercise because of being in physical pain. I had Ulcerative Colitis for 18 months which ended with my having ostomy surgery. Over 3 years I had more surgeries and the pain during recovery was horrendous. I tried to diet, but I just couldn't cope with exercising, the pain was terrible, so I didn't do it and in the end I gained weight rather than lost it. I hope you do better than me and find a way to exercise without too much pain
Crock - yoohoo where are you?? I hope you are ok.
Gotta go now, time for emailing Take care all and I'll be back later,
Ammi - I know! I remember saying how sucky it was when I was trying to work up to 10 minutes in a row....it all happened so fast, lol, I don't know what happened really, lol. And TY for the "Bravo", hehe.
EmilyMay - WELCOME!!! Hey we're the same age and almost the same weight ... and even going for close to the same target Have no fear of talking your weight here ... everyone is wonderful .. and those that have already reached their goal weights are just as supportive as those that are still on the journey and highly inspirational too! If you want a buddy to rant to drop me a pm
Ammi - Thank you lol .. I do ramble with my tips rofl . and so excited was I .. that I forgot to say how much rofl ... okee .. I lost 6 pounds!!! (2.4kg actually) And now hopefully when I get the TJ regime I will do the same again and again lol .. I have the hope of 40 by Xmas and 100 by my birthay in April ... sooo ... can hope Thanks for explaining about the fat thingy too ... I have those scales that send a charge up your legs (not one you can feel tho lol) and then tells you the fat % and the water % as well as your weight... I only really notice those tho when I dont lose as much as I was hoping for rofl... then I notice its usually down
Well .. my hunny is home now and we have a day out planned tomorrow together so Im going to get some good walking in .. I didnt quite make it to the Post Box cos a couple of big trucks came by and scared the bejeepers out of me so I turned around and came home again .... still got in 20 minutes of walking tho
Thanks for the welcomes girls Hey nightkatt just wondering what you are doing to lose weight? Any plan in particular? I am trying to eat no more than 2,000 calories per day and do exercise when I can be bothered and when not in pain!! Which is about 3 times a week and not every day. I did my fat percentage thing the other day on my new scales and it was 45%, I gather that anything over 30% is too much but I was personally quite pleased as I thought that seeing as I weigh twice as much as I should that I should be more than 50% fat weight, but I am more solid than I thought!! That must be all the hours walking up and down hospital wards exhausting myself!!
And just a question - I am early menopausal and have hot flushes, but even before this ever since being heavy I have a real problem with facial sweating and its worse when I am self-concious, which is most of the time! Does anyone else find they perspire like that?? I don't sweat under the arms much at all and am obsessed with keeping clean, but I find this facial perspiration bothersome and I am hoping it may get better as weight comes off - what do you guys reckon??
NightKatt - wow 6 lbs down and your FORGOT to mention it Well done Sounds like you are 100% motivated to keep the weight loss coming off and I am sure when you get your new work out stuff the lbs will be flying off you
It was Jill I think that explained how those fat monitors work, me, I just said I hate the things
bl**dy trucks, what a shame that they scared you and you didn't make it to the post box!! Never mind, you know you can do it now, and I am sure your trips out on your own will just get easier and easier
Have a good day out tomorrow and enjoy your walking
Missy - I know what happened - you got confidence in yourself, and you got a huge dose of inspiration and motivation to lose weight. You should be so proud of yourself!!
EmilyMay - I have noticed that I sweat a lot on my face and I can feel sweat running down my back too. It's horrible having to stand in a queue in a shop when it's warm and have to be mopping my face all the time. I never used to sweat like this, and I lived in Australia.
I don't think I am menopausal though who knows, but ever since having my first surgery I have had terrible hot flushes. I am in bed sometimes with my air cooler directed at me, but I am huddled under the covers really cold, but my face is boiling. Between period pains when we have them, labour pains when we give birth, and then the menopause and flushes, I have to say it again, us women have it so much harder than men!!
EmilyMay--Glad you found us! This is a FABULOUS group of people (I would say ladies, but every once in a while, a guy pops in here or there ), and I'm sure you'll find them as helpful as I have.
Ammi--ha, in a moment of weakness a little over a year ago, I subscribed to the Idiot Proof Diet. I thin kit was like 10 bucks for a month of access to their site, which included their menu generator. What you do is go through some choices of foods and choose your favorites (they'll give you 3 choices and you pick your favorite of the three, and you do this a bunch of times with different foods). Then, they "customize" (well, a computer sorts it out) menus for you based on your food choices. I'm a picky eater, so my menus consist mostly of chicken, fruit, and ham with pineapple. You eat 4 "meals" a day (I put meals in quotes because sometimes it is chicken and pasta, but sometimes it's mixed nuts, which is really more of a snack in my mind), and you can eat them in any order, as long as you eat the 4 meals it tells you to eat. There is one day in each 11-day cycle where you eat nothing but fruits and veggies (I had this yesterday--it's supposed to be 1 meal of fruit and 2 of veggies, but I don't like enough veggies, so I had 2 of fruit and a salad for dinner...ssh, don't tell ). Then you go off the plan for 3 days (my guess is that they assume you'll eat MORE on those 3 days, so it adds a calorie-cycling type aspect to the plan so your body doesn't settle into a certain pattern). I no longer belong to the site, but I had printed out a bunch of these menus (you can make as many as you want, as long as you're willing to sit there and go through the food choices again and again), so I started using them again on Monday. I had been soooo of track for so long that I knew I needed something super-strict to get me back on course--I no longer have the ability to make smart choices on my own consistently, so I follow this plan that tells me exactly what to eat every day. It won't be a forever plan, but it will get my head back to where it needs to be.
Ammi, yes actually lazy day DOES mean I didn't exercise at all yesterday. LOL that doesn't happen often for me but every once in a while I really feel as if I need a day to just kind of relax. I had so much foot pain I really couldn't walk and didn't feel up to the water aerobics. I'm not feeling too well this morning so may actually let another day go by without exercise... but that won't last long, that's for sure... and may end up in the pool tonight if I feel well enough.
