Annie - So sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better soon!
SueMarie - Sorry to hear you had a gain, but don't be too hard on yourself. Now that school is ending you will have more time and a whole lot less stress.
I NEED to go grocery shopping - I have none of my staples left, but I don't know if we will have time before we have to leave to go see some friends. If not, I will defintely go tomorrow.
Well, let's see - this will be their second week off and I DID have plans! We were going to put their pool up today and they were all fighting so badly, that the pool won't happen until next weekend.
They'll live through it though - they swam and swam and swam in the lake at mom's yesterday. The water is pretty cold but it was 95 degrees out so they really enjoyed it.
We have a neighborhood pool and Amber (my helper this summer) will probably take 2 kids tomorrow and 2 kids on Thursday. Of course I won't be caught dead in a swim suit! LOL! Tomorrow is AJ's birthday so he will get to go and one other will get to go.
I've been reading a lot about the Sonoma diet and am bidding on the book on Ebay. It sounds really good and healthy - I may try that - I've really been cutting down though - I'm on three meds since my new pdoc last week and for some reason, I'm not as hungry!! YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
Patti- good on you for getting your exercise in. I wish I could work up the enthusiasm to exercise, maybe when I get my Gazelle Rider I will be more enthusiastic about it lol. What did you watch on TV as your reward? I hope it was something good.
Nancy - I hope you get to go grocery shopping soon, it's awful trying to diet when you don't have the right food in the house.
Lori - ah, I don't blame you for changing your plans about putting the pool up for the kids. Sometimes they are their own worst enemies. I bet you warned them and warned them, and yet they still would have chosen to carry on fighting. It's a shame that all that swimming at your mum's yesterday didn't wear them out enough to keep them quiet for a day or two
I am glad that you have Amber to help you out with the kids, and I hope they will behave when she takes them swimming.
I hope you win that auction for the book about the Sonoma diet. I guess you aren't happy with trying WW? Well whatever diet you choose to do I hope you will have lots of success on it. Have you weighed since you started cutting down loads?
I better go make a start on tea, my tummy is starting to rumble
AmmiUK – Way to go on the 2lbs gone forever! The 1lb gain is a minor setback…but you are right, it could have been worse. The hard part is my mom is here during the landscaping. She took off a week from work, but she is going back on Tuesday. She brings all kinds of Thai food over, which is hard to calculate only because you really can’t find nutritional information for it anywhere hehe… plus, she brings all kinds of Thai desserts… she’s going to be the death of me! I keep telling her she can’t bring this stuff here, and she says… just don’t eat it. You know how hard that is? A little taste here a little taste there, and before you know it… it’s gone. I know it’s mean to say, but I’m looking forward to her going back home
NotTheCheat – I am staying on the positive side about the pound gain. I know it could have been worse. I’m still under 350lbs though and that’s a big one for me! Take care and have a good Memorial Day.
I went and bought some decorations for the Grad party I’m going to have. Boy, I spent more than I should have LOL! It’s going to be a graduation / birthday party for me. Since I’m graduating on the 18th and my birthday in on the 30th, I’m having the party on the 24th of June. So it’s all gonna mush together hehehe.
I put in 15 minutes on the treadmill last night, and then James and I worked with the home gym. James was showing me which exercises I should do (both antagonist and protagonist movements). ROWR! He looked so cute trying to teach me Didn’t do to much on the gym, but got a good idea on where to start. I wanted to put in 15 minutes on the treadmill this morning, but I woke up with a gigantic migraine. So I’m just gonna take some excedrine and plop on the couch and pray it goes away quickly. I hate the light headedness and nauseated feeling I get from them…
Well, we went out of town for half the weekend. I kept track of what we ate and tried to make decent choices, but it was hard because we were staying with a friend who wanted to go some different places than we did.
When all is said and done, I ate more than I normally do, and for the first time since Christmas I think did NOT have a calorie deficit yesterday -- about a 500 calorie surplus. (Yes, I have been doing REALLY well till now!)
I think I could have made a couple of better decisions, but I did, for the most part, enjoy what I ate!
The best part is comparing what I did this weekend with what I would have done in the past. For example:
- we tried to get some good walking in, and managed to walk well over an hour "aerobically" -- meaning that while it wasn't fast, each session did last at least 10 minutes at a stretch.
- we had a 4-5 hour drive each way and packed our snacks rather than eating what my husband fondly calls "road food"
- I ordered more veggies at restaurants, chose smaller portions, and deliberately did not eat everything in front of me just because it was there.
- I did not order desserts or alcoholic beverages (knowing we were eating a lot already).
- I was conscious of my choices and remained accountable.
So, when I look at it that way, who cares that I ate more bread than I should have one day or some such? I am continuing to make progress toward making this a new lifestyle -- one where I can go away and eat unplanned meals and be okay. That's what's important.
I hope you all had good weekends!! I'll try personals later...
Good Monday afternoon ladies! I just realized I'm 3 or so threads behind...YIKES! I guess that's what happens when you work a 10 hour shift on Saturday and a 6 hour shift on Sunday. I've got alot of catching up to do...so here goes! Busy busy weekend at work. I got off of work yesterday and my other half (the better half in my opinion) wanted to grill some burgers for dinner. I stopped by the grocery store and grabbed some ground turkey (boy are turkey burgers good!). We watched the rest of the Coca Cola 600 (NASCAR race). I had brought home Billy Blanks Boot Camp from work, and I gave it a try last night. I was exhausted but I felt great! It was quite a workout! And on top of that...the Mavericks beat the Suns....WOOOHOOO!!
Julie Claire-So how do you feel about AI? I'm alright with it...the 2 I wanted to see win it were out before the last week. I'm happy with who won because I didn't really like the other. Down 1.2...great job! Slowly but surely it'll come off.
MsCrockett-WOOOOHOOOO!!!! Another Jeff Gordon fan! I was so scared you'd say Dale Earnhardt JR...or Jimmie Johnson...or Tony Stewart....or Kyle Busch...blech. I'm also a Kurt Busch fan...picked him up around March last season. Don't ask me why cause I'm really not sure. I just found myself defending him more than complaining about him so I figured I had to be a fan. Sorry I didn't get back to you before you headed out...I've been pretty busy. I know you'll have plenty of pictures of Jeff to share with me. PM me, and I'll give you my email address so you can send me pics when you get some time. I wanna see em all! I LOVE to see other people's NASCAR pics...it's just fun for me. Hope you had a great time...what a crappy race though. I was happy though to see anyone BUT Jimmie Johnson win it.
Flady-WOOHOO....glad to hear that pink eye is clearing up nicely. I know it feels to work for the weekend...that's the story of my life. I'm in retail, so I don't really have a choice! Pet sitting this weekend huh? How fun!
Ammi-Thanks for your comment on my line under my name. I look at what I’m doing as a one way street. There’s no going back to where I started…ever! Not unless a medical problem causes it. I read that someone made it to onederland and I believe Misit mentioned 2derland. I gotta hit 2derland before I hit onederland.
Dusty-Yes…seeing the DDR mat on the floor was definitely a motivator…I played it the next day lol.
NightOwl-I myself look back at previous threads. Sometimes I have a really hard time keeping up with who’s who because I just read along. Avatars change and it makes it even harder for me to keep up lol. It’s not easy, but I have started getting used to it.
Kayley-Hope you’ve had a good time in Wisconsin. You should be home soon…I know you said Monday evening, but I’m not sure what time that means.
Xena-Wow! What a small world! I saw someone the other day that was from Carrollton somewhere on this board…I’m not too sure where I came across her though. What part of Plano are you in? I mean Plano is pretty big. I’d love to have a walking buddy….I just have weird hours when I’m available because I work in retail.
Dancermom01-Welcome! We hope you’ll hop in here and post with us often!
SueMarie-I want to be a teacher too. I’m going for my bachelors in elementary education. I just am at a stopping point right now because I gotta figure out where the money is going to come from to pay for school. I want so bad to teach first grade.
Everyone else I didn’t mention by name-Hope you’re all doing well. Congratulations to everyone that has been able to celebrate losses! For anyone who is struggling…keep your chin up and hold your head high! I’ll do my best to keep up better. Talk to everyone later!
Flady, Suemarie, Patty, Ammi, Nancy, Lori: thank you all for the well wishes on my back healing. It is getting better with slowing down and ice packs and heat packs. Lol. Anyone else who wished me well that I failed to mention by name, thank you so much.
SueMarie: Ooo softball sounds like so much fun. I am pretty good at it but I can't run. I never play because of that. I will some time soon though. I know it. Have a blast.
Ammi: Yipee to you. Congrats on being down 2 more. I smell twoderville for you. LOL. I love, love the new Avitar picture. You can really see your pretty smiling face. You are so beautiful. Your outside certainly matches your inside.
Misti: I love your picture too. Another pretty lady. I'm glad that you had such a great time on your cruise. I think I am going to plan one for next year for us. Where did you go? I live near Coeur d alene Idaho so it isn't too far from Seattle. Like a day trip or something. LOL. So, tell us about your cruise.
Patty: You are so close to twoderville too. I can't wait to help you and Ammi celebrate your arrival. LOL.
Lori: I think that is so smart to not put the pool up for the kiddies because of the fighting even when I bet it would be a lot better to have them swimming outside. LOL. You are such a good momma. I think if you want to go to the public pool with them you should go no matter what you think you look like. You are so lovely. I have seen you close up in the photos you have sent to me before and you are a beautiful woman. Hang your head high lady and know that. Hugs.
Wyllen: Okay for you my dear, you ares such an inspiration. Traveling with good snacks is so awesome. I think you are so close to onderland! It is so exciting to see your progress. Even when you get there please don't leave us for good, come visit and cheer us on.
Well, Saturday night I was in tons of pain but my hubby whined so much about a BBQ that a friend of his was having that I sucked it up for him and we went. They grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and a friend of theirs from Seattle brought tons of fresh oysters so they grilled some of those too. While we waited for the Oyster's fire to be ready, the burgers and hot dogs were done. I was so proud of myself. I ate a burger with nothing on it. Everyone else was eating potato salad and beans with brown sugar glaze of some kind. When dinner was over we went outside by the firepit and watched them fix the oysters. I had never eaten them before except in oyster stew or the smoked ones in the little can. So this was interesting. They cooked them until they made a popping sound then opened them up and in the half shell where the meat was they added a tiny bit of butter, freshly grated parmesean cheese and a dab of hot sauce and let them cook until the chsses melted. They were delicious. I ate 5 of them. They weren't that big but, I didn't see the count of calories and carbs before I ate them so I didn't have anymore. After the oyster feast, they piled the wood on the fire and the children came out and everyone made Smores. I didn't have even one taste of a smore. I was so proud of myself. I feel like for the first time I am in control not my eating being in control of me. It is a wonderful feeling.
Wyllenn – I know all about that going out of town and having to keep track of what you eat. I tried, although I wasn’t too successful. It went better than it could have. It’s hard when you go out with friends and they all want pasta or Chinese food and you are trying to diet. A lot of places are making it easier, like Applebess with their Weight Watchers menu.
Hpnotg – That’s what I’m going for… elementary credential. Multiple Subjects Credential for grades k-6, although now I want to go for my grades 7-12 credential for mathematics. Working with 8th graders has really changed my perspectives, although I love working with k-3 as well. I know what you mean about money. Have you looked into Financial Aid? I get a pell grant which gives me about $1300 for full time status. It helps, but it doesn’t cover everything. This term, my books cost me $400!! Good luck with your plans! Let me know if I can help any
Dogpal – Yeah I can’t run either, specially with all this weight. I’m a little self conscious about bouncing all over the place eek! I don’t even wanna think about it. I’m afraid it might make me change my mind. Way to go with the self control… I wish I had that this past week. It’s been so easy, then mom comes over
Elaine and thank you SO MUCH for suggesting reading some of the posts on the maintainers thread. I had never really thought to check that part out since I have so far to go before I am maintaining. But, you are right, there are some really inspirational people there and many lessons to be learned. Thanks again for the suggestion!
wyllen and dogpal - to both of you for handling your eating situations in a controlled manner. That is what this is all about! You guys are inspiring.
Ammi - You are really on a roll with another 2 pound loss. Keep it up!
hypnotq - I live in north Plano....almost Frisco/Allen.
OK, I better run. I have a salmon burger cooking and it's about ready. I found them at Whole Foods and they have a bunch of different flavors. Tonight I am trying the roasted red pepper/fennel one, but I also have a couple of teriyaki ones.
SueMarie-I didn't even think about pell grants. I'll have to try checking into them.
Xena-I'm in way east Plano...down the street from PESH...and I work in Allen. Man is it ever a small world!
We grilled out tonight. I had turkey dogs...not the greatest for me, but much better than hot dogs. This morning was weigh in. I was down a pound and down 1.5 inches. I was a little upset that it was so small, but then again I had a crappy exercise week last week. This week is a new week and I'll be doing much better...I hope. Have a good night everyone!
Just a quickie to report in and send you all hugs.
Ammi and Misti ----- LOVE LOVE the new avatars!!!! Gorgeous with a Capital G, babeeees!
Kayley -- I didn't realize it was Madison Wisconsin you were heading to until I noticed in one of your last posts before you left... I LOVE MADISON! what a cool town. Did you get to the farmer's market? They have a great one there.
Well... weigh in last Thursday was...... odd... I weighed myself and.. woohoo!... it said I was down 3.5. Of course, I didn't believe it. so... weighed again a minute later. This time said I stayed the same. grrrr.
I weighed myself a total of 5 times LOL The last time it said I was down 1.5. so.. ****.... what do I weigh?? So, I called it minus one and got dressed. lol. Of course.... the next day, because I didn't learn my lesson... I got right back there and it said I was the same as the week before. so... who the heck knows?? Not been a good week since then, either-- haven't been good about keeping track of things, and have eaten out a couple of times with not a lot of options so.... not optimistic about this week's weigh in on Thursday, either.
BUT..... I FINALLY got the vegetable garden in!! woohoo! and it's beautiful! It always is until the weeds start coming in It's not a big one -- but we have 12 tomato plants (7 different kinds) plus a few extra cherry tomatos in pots. And about a dozen peppers to... although we'll probably do lots more of those before we're done. And zuchinni and cucumbers and cantelope. Got a lot more flowers, too, to put in pots around the porch and deck. Love it when it's all out and pretty. But boooooy was it HOT this weekend here in Indiana! I figure I HAVE to have sweated some of those bad choices out .
I have a wedding to go to this weekend... have NOOOO idea what to wear! I've lost enough weight to feel like my clothes just don't quite fit right... yet not enough that I want to buy something expensive becasue I DO NOT WANT to be this size, either, for much longer.. hmmmmm..... what to do.
Can't stay to do a bunch of personals.... know that I'm sending good thoughts to each of you.
