February Exercise Thread: Make it a Habit!

  • This will be my first time doing this exercise minutes counting thing so I am going to be conservative with my goal and say 400 minutes. That will be WATP and the gym (treadmill, bicycle, weight machines) and maybe some other videos or walks outside or something else that presents itself as an opportunity to sweat.

    I think this thread is a great idea and a good motivator!
  • Well, for January I did a total of 727 minutes, which averages out to 23.5 minutes per day. For February I will try to slightly improve on this and set my goal at 750 minutes. That is 27 minutes a day since February is shorter, which is a little scary. I know I have been doing really well, but I am still finding this commitment a little scary. Oh well, I say GO FOR IT!

    I'm new to this thread as well, although I do see some familiar faces . I also have never measured my exercise in mins. it's usually miles or sets when referring to weights, but I will try.

    Goals for Feb.:
    *1600 mins. of Cardio. That's 60 mins a day with some slack for missing a session...
    *Get the universal gym where I can use it and do at least 60 mins of strength training a week...300 mins
    *Since that adds up to 1900 mins, I'll set my goal at 2000 to challenge myself.


    It's a little intimidating seeing it written down like that. Especially considering the only exercise I did three weeks ago was walk to the bathroom . But that was three weeks and 37 miles ago...So, I think I can do this.
  • It is so cool to see so many people setting goals. There have been days, when the need to achieve my goal and report it to you all has dragged me to the gym -- thank you thank you thank you!

    For February, I'm going to say:
    50 minutes strength training 2x/week
    50 minutes cardio 4x/week
    300 minutes/week times 4 weeks = 1200 minutes

    It will be extra good to have this goal since I travel two of the four weeks this month and my trainer is taking vacation too, so I won't get my 2x/week kick in the butt working with her every week .
  • Well, I think I may mostly stick with the amounts I am currently doing, but by writing it down, at least I will be less inclined to miss anything. I have actually been really good with exercise for a long while now, but this will still help. I often think of how much I can enter on the exercise thread, which sometimes encourages me to go for another 5 mins.

    I would increase my amount, but I don't think I should do any more at the moment. I hope that is OK.

    I workout at least 40 mins on the treadmill every morning and 30 mins on the exercise bike every afternoon/evening. Every second day I try to fit in 6 mins of stepping, which involves 100 steps on each foot, in reps of 20. Sometimes I do an extra 5 mins on the equipment or a few more steps, but now and then I also have to cut the time short due to time constraints, or a rare moment of NO energy, so I think they will balance each other out.

    So... 70mins x 28 days = 1960. Also... 6mins x 14 days = 84

    Personal goal - 2050 mins (or thereabouts)
  • I get to enter the first exercise for February.

    40 mins on treadmill and 30 mins on exercise bike. Not bad that I still did the bike even though I was tired after our first day back at school with the kids. I admit to having a little nap after dinner though. Sad huh?

    So... Personal Goal - 2050 - 70 = 1880

    Group Total = 70 mins
  • Good thing I came here right away this morning--I totally forgot that it was February 1. I'm calling my work out buddy to see if she wants to go to the gym. If not, I'm going on my treadmill. I'll post later on today when I get back on the computer.

  • I want to do 40 mins x 5 a week, if I miss a session due to TOM or illness I will work at the week-end to make it up, so 200 mins per week x 4 = 800.
    I did 40 mins today, salsacise and toning 800-40=760
    Group Total 70+40=110
    Way to GO!!!

    Group Total: 110 + 65 = 175

    We're off to a great start!
  • Holy , there are some steep goals on the list! You ladies amaze and inspire me!! I've missed my goal the last 2 months, so I really wanna make it this month, and surpass it if possible. At least I've started this a.m. with my 30 min workout...

    30 + 175 = 205 ... and THEY'RE OFF!!!
  • I only managed to get 13 minutes in this morning, as I was over at my b/f's house, and only had the time he was in the shower, to do it! But it's better than nothing, right?

    So 205+13=218
  • I did an hours walking, but will count only 30 mins as they were fast and left me breathless, the other 30 were slow-ish whilst I walked around the shops.
    Personal goal 760-30=730
    Group total 218+30=248

  • Oh btw how is everyone feeling?, I am moving easier, feeling more perky/energetic and noticing muscles in my arms & legs!!!!!! which were none existant or covered in fat.

  • I did my 30 minutes of exercising today. I don't know if I will get chance to do any tomorrow or Friday. It's weird I have gone so long not exercising and not worrying about it, and now I WANT to exercise and feel awful when I can't!

  • LOL, I forgot I was doing strength training 3x/week instead of 2x/week. My real goal for February is 1400 minutes -- at least my .sig is right .

    I think today is going to be a day off, but I hope to report in tomorrow night! GJ y'all!
