I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.
If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.
Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.
There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!
Hi Wyllen - oh ok, seems I must have read the wrong thing about herniated discs. I guess I just relate anything to do with the back as really painful. With my sciatica I can just be walking and all of a sudden a sharp pain shoots up the base of my spine and my legs go from under me. I always have to walk holding Daren's hand and he often stops me from hitting the deck. I had an x-ray done a long while back and they said they couldn't see anything except for normal wear and tear.
I am sorry you had that fall, but it's kind of a good thing too because it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I think there has to be something for all of us to decide to get the weight shifted. Some people call it the 'switch'. I got my switch triggered by realising how much my weight stops me living a normal life.
We can do it this time, we will get the weight off and keep it off. Good luck with seeing a neurologist and a PT. I hope they can both help you out.
Hey Chicks
Hope everyone had a good weekend. it went by too fast, although i didnt accomplish very much! Well, this PMS is a pain in the @@@! I swear, i feel like i can eat anything chocolate or fattening that doesnt eat me first! Did ok with food, but went out for the family dinner, and well, didnt do awesome Oh well, tommorrows another day and i dont think one meal will damage me that much!
Amni: Disco Sweat is the bomb! you will love it, it is so fun, and not that hard. The music is really cool too
Ladies, have great night, and keep up the good work, we can do this
Xena.....I love scrapbooking. That is something that I have really gotten into since I had my son. He is 5 now and I am still doing it as a hobby. Yes it is surprising how long it takes to buy all the stuff and how to lay it out but once it is done it feels good to know that you created it.
Well, I never did take that walk with the pugs, as it poured much of the afternoon. I did, at least, walk on the treadmill this morning.
Ammi -- sciatica sounds like a bear! Did anyone ever do an MRI? That's what I had done to detect the herniated discs!
Has anyone else had an MRI lately? I swear I just barely fit in the machine! I think if I hadn't lost some weight already that I would have gotten stuck!
"The Switch" is a good way to put it. I have tried to lose weight other times, but I have never been as focused as I am now. It feels exactly like something did "switch" in my head. Too bad it can't actually turn OFF the cravings...
Hi Im Shirley from Sydney Australia ready to start again. Any further news would be helpful and good luck to us all Shirley ps the author of the book is LIndberg
Good morning, ladies, and Happy October!!! I am excited that it's october because it's now officially less than 2 weeks till I MOVE Can't WAIT!!!
This past weekend, I helped my sister with wedding gown shopping. Most of the places we went had primarily only size 10 gowns to try on, and she was so upset that she didn't fit into them. We went to David's Bridal (who actually has pretty much every size from 2-26W), so she finally got to try on some dresses that fit. She fit perfectly into a size 16. It amazed me that she could be unhappy in a size 16--I would be ecstatic to be able to wear a normal misses size instead of a plus size! She has lost some weight to get here, too--about 20 pounds (she used to be a pretty solid 18W and is now a 16 misses). AND, unlike me, she has an actual FIGURE. I just have rolls and roundness, whereas she had almost a perfect hourglass sillhouette in those gowns--she looked great! Anyway, she narrowed it down to 2 (after trying on what felt like 200 ), so she's well on her way to her picture-perfect wedding. Hopefully, I'll be a size or 2 smaller by then as well (since I am the maid of honor)...the wedding is April 22, so I need to get crackin' and make sure I don't gain so much as an OUNCE over the holidays!!
My goodness, Catherine, 4.5 days on a BUS I am glad you brought your own food--I had to fly to San Antonio from Va Beach last year, and I was SO hungry in the airport. Well, I hadn't brought anything with me, and I didn't want to get something at a fast food place in the terminal, so I went into a little shop and bought some of those low-carb snack bars. I had some in the airport and on the plane, and by the time I got to San Antonio, I was SO sick! Lots of sugar alcohols on an empty stomach equals major cramps and gas and other ickiness I won't go into detail about--it was horrible! So excellent on the thinking ahead and bringing your own food
Oh what a horrible way to start my afternoon, my internet provider's email server is down. So I can't check my email. I love my email sob, lol. Oh well I will just have to be a patient angel and wait til they get it sorted out.
This morning although I did have to really push myself, I got up early to do my hour of housework. I didn't quite finish all the jobs I wanted, I still need to vacuum upstairs. So I will do that when I am finished here, seeing as I can't email and all that LOL.
Brittleviolets - WELCOME I just did a conversion for you and you are 282 lbs. I love it when Aussies join our little group. I lived there from a baby til I was 18 and I really miss the place and my family there now. I lived in Sydney til I was 7 in a place called Matraville and then we moved to the Blue Mountains. So any contact with anybody from over there helps me feel less homesick. I am sorry, I haven't heard of the diet you mentioned. Is there any reason you want to try a low GI diet rather than something like Weight Watchers?
Jill - glad to hear that after trying on loads of dresses your sister has narrowed it down to just a choice of two. I got married in Vegas and I was going to hire a dress from over there because I knew they catered for the bigger woman more than over here in UK stores. I decided I would buy my bridal shoes here though, and was so surprised when I went into a bridal shop to find that they had some wedding dresses in my size!! The first one I put on fit like it was made for me. I just had to have it, AND it was on sale, so I did have it lol. I was meant to have it I really was
Wow not long now until you move, are you all organised or is there some last minute craziness still to happen? I hope it all goes smoothly for you and that you can get on the Internet again quickly in your new home. My niece moved the other week and the most important priority for her was how quickly her Internet provider could come to install a modem etc. I think I would be like that lol.
Wyllen - no I have never had an MRI scan. Every time I tell my doctor how bad my back is she just goes, hmmm, that's strange isnt it. DUH it's not strange, it's a serious problem that I would like an answer to. But I know what they are all thinking. She's fat, she needs to lose weight. Well thin people have sciatica so I will just have to go back when I have lost some more weight and complain about it again. I am sorry that the scanner wasn't very big, but YAY, at least you did fit in it, no humiliation for you there. I watched a show on TV where they couldn't get a guy in the scanner because he was so big. It's a worry isn't it to think your size could hinder important medical treatment.
Now now, we mustn't expect the earth it's a start just to have the On switch flicked to lose the weight. If we had an off switch for the cravings it would make it all too easy. Like an artist, we must suffer for our art (our art being our bodies shaping into something to be proud of ) It would be good though lol.
Futurediva - is your name Kymberly? I see it right at the bottom of your posts some times? Anyway I am glad you aren't giving yourself too much grief about not being a weight loss angel when you went out for the family dinner. Just get back on track today. I have two birthdays and an anniversary coming up in November, and of course Christmas in December. Although I am hoping I won't over indulge too much, I have every intention of joining in the celebrations and eating the yummy food etc. It's part of life, and let's face it, every day for me used to be like a party, eating what I wanted when I wanted. So if I only do that on proper occasions in future, then I am still making a big difference to my diet and how I eat. So, it's all cool.
As for the Disco Sweat, by Thursday I should have done all my cleaning jobs, so I a going to attempt one song on the DVD lol. It's a start, and I am really itching to give it a go.
Andrea - that's great that you scrap book too, I am going to start giving some big hints now that Christmas is coming closer. My hubby knows where there's a shop that sells all that stuff, plus there's Ebay, so who knows. I might be joining the scrap booking set before you know it LOL.
Sharon - where are you my friend, how did your weekend go? Well your Sunday anyway. I know about Saturday lol. I hope all is well.
Sharon 2, Luan, PJ, Blondie, Catherine, and anybody else I forgot, hope all is ok, and Catherine, have a good journey and take care.
Has anyone else had an MRI lately? I swear I just barely fit in the machine! I think if I hadn't lost some weight already that I would have gotten stuck!
I just had one for my knee and I had to drive to another city for what they call an "Open" MRI. This is not a tube but just a table and the imager lies flush on top of you. Can you believe the tech actually told me that she thought I "might" fit into a regular one? PULEEEEZE!

Tell your sister that wedding dresses always run at least 2 sizes smaller than the normal dress size. I think it is a conspiracy of some sort. And I think it is ridiculous!

Welcome Shirley! And good luck on your new journey! I have never heard of this diet myself, sorry! I tend to stick with basic calorie counting at this point anyway. I have a scientific formula that calculates my age, weight, and height to figure the # of calories that I can eat and still lose weight within a week. I get one set of #'s for no exercise, but if I exercise, I can eat considerably more calories. I haven't started exercising yet b/c my knee has been really messed up and I will have to start PT soon. I think I am going to have to start walking, at least, very soon. I am losing weight at a nice clip, but I just think if I exercised, it would fall off so much quicker. I wish I wasn't born with the lazy gene! Good luck, I hope what ever route you choose works for you!

Hi Ammi!!! Aren't you smart!!!! Now if I had that kind of motivation, life would be good! I am smack in the middle of a huge depressive episode because of some really big life altering stuff going on right now and I do good just to get up and get moving. Today I will actually set the ball in motion to deal with a monster I have been fighting for about 20 years. I hope when it is over, I can get on with my life and this depression will dissapate. That is what I am banking on. It always makes me smile to pop on here and see your posts. You are always so kind and supportive. Thank you!
I am new but I am going ot junp right in I am having a hard time starting and of course as you can see I need to lose more than 100lbs! What are some snacks you all eat that are filling.
I just ordered a scale that will weigh me so I can join other threads. I do know I am at 381 as of last week and haven't went back to doctor to weigh I am waiting for the scale. You ladies are great I hope I fit in and make new friends and hopefully be down the same road as all you are. Thanks Rhonda
Welcome, Rhonda! We're all familiar with the 300+ territory, so everyone here is very helpful and supportive. You seem enthusiastic about starting, which is great--I think most of the battle we all face is that of our own mentality, so starting positively is always good. Glad you found us, and glad you decided to jump right in--that's the best way to get started!
Ammi--haha, of course there is plenty of last-minute craziness in my move. I am the Queen of Procrastination! I have not packed so much as a pencil yet--in fact, I still need to dig my boxes out of my closet! Hopefully, though, I'll get the majority of my packing done this coming weekend.
Neurotica--actually, at David's Bridal, she was in size 16 dresses, which is the same size as the pants she had on when we went there! That made things much easier.
Welcome Rhonda...I am new here too and the girls are great...very supportive. So you came to the right place. It took me awhile to get motivated but now I am motivated more than ever...I just have to make sure I stick to it. For a snack I love Yoplait Very Vanilla Fat Free Yogurt sprinkled with some GrapeNuts cereal. Soooo good. I also like the Luna Women's nutritional bars. Hope you post often and keep us updated on your progress. As far as the weight ticker go under User CP and edit your signature.
Girls, I am kind of nervous because I know I am going to be tempted the next few months with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am going to have to be strong and have willpower. Why do all these holidays have to be within three months??
Haven't posted on this thread for a while, but thought I'd pop in with a word or two.
Catherine! If you see this before you leave - Pleasant Journey and Best of Luck!!! I hope you have a wonderful time. Enjoy yourself and don't be too nervous - I'm sure your beau will make sure you have plenty of support meeting the folks. They're gonna love you.
Someone asked about MRI's. I've had TONS of them. Due to a benign pituitary tumor I used to have to have an MRI every three months! And no open one for me, the neurosurgeon didn't think they give a good enough picture, they had to stick my fat, claustrophobic butt in the tiny little tube. I had one on my lower back too, due to herniated disks, but it wasn't so bad, since they put me in feet first and let me put my hands over my head, less to go in that way and with my head out the claustrophobia isn't too bad...in fact, I never knew I didn't like close places until I had to do them. But when I had to have my arms to my sides it would press in on me right at the elbows...for someone claustrophobic...terrifying. I always managed to do it without meds, although I did have a stiff drink once! I asked them one time what they would do if they had someone fatter than me - and the tech said, "We just butter them up and stuff them on in." I was too horrified at the thought of being squeezed any tighter to be offended at the time! My last MRI I skipped, I was supposed to go but they left me standing there looking at the hole for 15 minutes, actually talking to the tech about how small it was and I freaked out 1/2 way into the machine. No more for me without Valium!
Jilly: In my experience (and I've bought one twice!) most everyone looks good in a wedding dress! The one your sister picked is lovely...I could never do the strapless thing with my fat arms, I had to have sleeves. I did the David's Bridal experience for my second wedding and found a georgous dress, that I didn't buy...but it showed me I'd look good in the straight sheath style, that I never thought I could wear. I ended up buying my Maid of Honor's dress and having it altered to fit me (she was a size bigger). I tried it on the other day, and it was too big! Really cool...it barely fit at my wedding five years ago. I'm sure you will be a lovely Maid of Honor...just don't let her stick you in pink with a big bow on your butt!
There are too many new folks here since I last posted to welcome you all personally, so forgive me for my blanket "Welcome Ladies". This is a wonderful place for support. I think it's fair to give this board and the ladies on it credit for a good portion of my loss to date. I Love you Ladies!
Ladies, I hope you all are having good, OP days. Later!
It's 9.30 pm and I have just finished my low fat hot chocolate with Rich Tea biscuits. That sets me up for the night, and I am rarely hungry going to sleep.
Rhonda - WELCOME to the group. We have a few new ladies here and it's lovely to see the group growing. I for one know that without the people here I would find this diet so much harder than it sometimes is. The motivation and support I get, and just being accountable to others really makes all the difference.
My low fat snacks are WW low fat yogurts, low fat crisps, fruit bars, sugar free jelly, Rich tea biscuits, bananas and breakfast bars. Sometimes I snack a lot on them in a day and actually have to remind myself I am not being naughty lol.
Ok if I remember correctly, to change your traker, you go to control panel and click on edit your signature, which is your tracker. Somewhere in the code there are three numbers, two of them are you start weight. Change the second of the same number, and then click on preview, if I have told you the right thing lol, then you should see the lbs lost on there, showing on the scale and under it. Give it a go!!
Jill - oh I wish I lived near you, I would love to give you a hand with your packing. You should have seen me when I had to move into my own home after I got divorced and had to leave the marital home. I had all my boxes packed, and itemised, with where each box had to go all written on them. I loved being all organised. But I am not there lol, so I just hope that the organisational buzz hits you soon
Andrea - I know just what you mean about the temptations of Halloween, and Christmas. You guys in the US have Thanksgiving to deal with too. What you have to remember is that you are allowed to enjoy treats on all of those occasions. OK, don't go way OTT with what you eat, but everything in moderation. You know you will gain a few lbs, but you'll be prepared for that, and you will soon lose it again. That's my plan anyway
Lilion - lovely to hear from you. Wow you have had some experiences with the MRI's haven't you. I don't blame you for not going back for your last one. Hope you are keeping well and that you can post again soon.
