Smile Super Saturday !!!!!

Michelle ... your little shopping trip with Andrew was soooo sweet.
What an angel.
Our weather here is GORGEOUS too. Spring has definitely sprung.
I can't buy you a new car... but I will give you a ride. Vrroom Vrroom
If you come to the Fling and we can drive around together.

Terri ... hope you and your mom had a nice day with the horses. I wish I had another chance to spend some time with my parents. Today I ate a Rueben sandwich.... my dad LOVED Ruben sandwiches. I cannot eat one without thinking of him.

Leanne... I am sooo glad you stopped in for your "fix". LOL
I have missed you and I'm glad you are back.

Judy... I have always wanted to try Thai food. Is it similar to Chinese ... or Mongolian.??
I love both of those. Mmmm CONGRATS of successfully facing that challenge.
I totally failed with my lunch and dinner today. But I must add ... I did not overeat.
I just caved in to some FREE homemade chips and cheesecake at the restaurant.
What is it about free food that makes a compulsive eater EAT IT.
And I also caved in and ate a homemade roll too.

Julee ... I cannot imagine trying sushi. I have never tried Japanese either... but I am more than willing to try it. I do like to try new foods ... but cooked.

Melissa ... Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend away. You definitely need some stress free fun.

Barbg ... What a cute graphic. I sure have been missing them. Are any of these new ones.... ones that you made yourself.???

and everyone else who complimented my new car. THANKS
When they first came out I thought they were like an ugly puppy....
... so ugly they are cute. But it grew on me... and now I just think it is cute.
I must say after spending the entire day driving around ... getting in and out going to garage sales ....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my new car.
I am short and fat and this car works great for that body type.
This Murano has a 10 way positions seat that comes down low for getting in and out... and rises up HIGH for driving. Plus it has adjustable pedals that brings them up closer for my short fat legs. It is awesome !!!
I promise ... after this weekend .... I will stop talking about my new car so much. I am just sooo excited right now with it.

Thin... DH is 6 ft and DD is 5'11" and both said the back seat was very roomy and comfy.
The back seats recline too. Good for long trips... like to Michigan.

Okay... that is everyone since I posted last. I hope you don't think I am avoiding anyone. Sometime I get too far behind to do replies ... but a handful I can handle.
I LOVE you ALL !!!!!

Evening Ladies!

I know it's late and I'm sure that most everyone will see this tomorrow, but it's really the first chance I've had to post. It's been a busy day!

I can't say my eating has been the best so far this weekend. On Friday night DH made this wonderful dinner with lean pork loin chps with lowfat mushroom soup, breen beans and potatoes...and cheese brats for DS. I wanted those bratwursts SO BAD! It was all I could think of! Finally I cut one in half and wrapped it with a piece of bread. Was probably 5 pts but it killed the craving and I had that many points left. I never use the "flex" points, so I was okay. Today we got up really late and had a big breakfast...sausage, eggs, cheese, salsa...it was about 13 pts...but it was breakfast and lunch too. Dinner was the killer. We ate at a buffet...I did have a big salad with FF dressing first and tried not to do too bad on the buffet...but they had fried shrimp and I love fried shrimp...so I know I ate more than I should. The meal came with an 8 oz sirloin and baked potato...which got brought home. Maybe tomorrow we'll do the brunch thing again and have steak and eggs! Then it's back to healthy food!

I've never had sushi and really have no desire to try it. I like my fish well done! Actually, I've had almost no foreign foods except the standard Chinese, Mexican and Italian. I've always wanted to try Thai but there is none around here to my knowledge. We almost went to an Indian restaurant today, but didn't feel up to the 30 miles drive, so that fell through. I know nothing of Indian food but would like to try it. DH has had curry a few times and liked it. Anyone know how fattening Indian food is as a general rule?

DH and I watched yoga shows all morning. Didn't actually DO any yoga, of course. Have any of you ladies ever done yoga? I think I'm going to try the beginner one they have on our digital cable. I'm actually quite flexible for a fat gal. Later we went to the Y and played racketball. Well, we played on a racketball court with rackets and a ball...but that's the only reason it could be called racketball since neither one of us have a clue how to play. But I think we'll try to do that a few times a week though. It was fun and good exercise and after 30 minutes we were beat!

Terri...the horses are beauties! I grew up on a farm and had horses once. Never got very good at riding though. I'd love to do it again sometime though. I'm gonna have to get DH to go trail riding at one of the state parks this summer. You and I are a little far apart to meet on the Katy Trail! DH and DS ride bikes on the trail sometimes, but I don't have one. I haven't put my big behind on a bike that actually went anywhere in 20 years! I do have family in Kansas City so I get up your way every once in a while.

2Cute...Like the car! I love my SUV too. I always need more legroom instead of less, but I think the pedals that come up for short legs are the smartest thing! They tell you not to sit close the the airbag, but expect short people to be able to reach the gas??? Glad you're happy with it.

Michele...how old is your little guy? I fondly remember when DS, now almost 10, was 5 and under...he was sooo cute! They are great joy aren't they?

Well ladies, I'll try to catch up some more tomorrow. It's getting time for this woman to hit the hay. Tomorrow's plan is for laundry and yard work, assuming the sunshine holds out.

Scoot your bike is gorgeous!!! I hope you really enjoy it.

The one I showed you costs like 900.00 so when I say expensive I MEAN really expensive. LOL!!! Oh well maybe a couple of years down the road when I finish school, get a job, pay that loan back, pay my parents back for a number of things and can save it up! lol

Judy...that's so awesome! Now I am inspired to go have some Thai food. I love the Tom Yum soup, but I get mine with tofu, which would lower the points. I don't eat scallops, but if I did a chicken stir-fry with the spicy basil and mint leaves that I like..I could do alright...and with minimal oil that would be good. I do Core and not points. i just would pass on the rice to be safe. BF and I went out for steak tonight..we were both craving red meat, neither of us hasa had ANY since we started WW. We split a 14 oz. steak and each got salad and then split fruit and an order of spinach sauteed with olive oil and garlic...yummm! He did pretty well for about 9 pts and for me it was all OP. YAY!

Thanks for letting me know

Hey guys, I broke my diet yesterday (Friday) and Saturday (even though I stayed within calorie count Saturday the stuff I ate was HORRIBLE for me (i.e. Burger King, and my rules are no fast food, so I was definately bad). I've had a horrible headache for three days cuz I stopped drinking soda, and caffeine. I decided to give in today...but with a c-2 (half calories), so overall morale here was weak. I also....haven't exercised since the day I did 8 miles. I don't know whats come over me, will perserve again tommorrow though!

Good morning Chickie Poos!!

Rise and Shine!! Its another beautiful day here in NC!

Shop...don't deprive yourself of the fast food occassionally. Its what kept me on plan during the week. I would allow myself anything I wanted for dinner the night of my WI as long as I lost that week. And you know what? It worked! It gave me something to work towards all week long and I NEVER felt deprived. And I lost 97 lbs in 10 months! That was the first time WW really worked for me...because I didn't deprive myself. And the little things along the plan, like chocolate or cake or whatever...I had it during the week and kept it all within my points. But you know what too? Most times I didn't want it and didn't eat it because I didn't want to give up that many points for such a small indulgence! Sometimes our minds start working in the right direction! So with that said...don't beat yourself down for having the fast food. Count the points/calories and go forward. You deserve a treat for working so hard towards your goal! Did that all make sense?

Julee...sounds like you both did very well with your food choices! We don't eat alot of red meat here either and I do crave it occassionally! Especially a nice tender steak on the grill! Yummm!!

Loki...I think I still owe my mom a million dollars. I did finally pay her back for the furniture she bought me when I moved from RI to PA. But the past 45 years she has paid off a loan for me and given me money for various things! Moms...gotta love 'em!!

Lillion...my little guy is 4 1/2 and growing like a weed. He is such a little man now! We went to an Easter play at church last night and he was such a good boy. He made me so proud! He really is growing up! I don't usually use my 35 flex points either unless I have a special event/outing like Easter brunch this saturday and sunday! I figure if I am a little heavy handed on the ff creamer in my coffee or pour a little too much cereal in my bowl that those points will eventually get used up during the week and if not, then more power to me I lose a little quicker! Its just a little insurance there!!

2Cute...he is my Angel LOL! My precious gift from God!! I waited till I found the perfect daddy and it took me a looong time to find that one!!

OK I am going to get the rest of my laundry done, clean up the kitchen counter and the top of the microwave, organize the laundry room shelves and hopefully John will be home from work by then and I will go pick up our prescriptions and hit the gym. If not, then just the little guy and I will go to the drugstore and the gym will have to wait till tomorrow!!

TTFN Love you guys! Keep posting!

hey all, just checking in...i got home earlier than i expected and i've been lurking off and on all morning. i THINK i stayed on program last night, it's hard to tell...i have some (not a lot) of popcorn at the movies...we went and saw Ice Princess...aww talk about a tear jerker! then later on at dad's house i had lasagna, sun dried tomato bread, and also later that night TWO slices of apple bread with REAL BUTTER. eek. i think i stayed under though, anyways i have no idea how to calculate fresh baked bread like that anyways. i'm also off to a rough start this weekend, but that;s ok because i was good all week and will be good next week too.

Good Morning Everyone!
It's a rainy day here today. I was really hoping for a sunny, spring-like day. I guess the rain will help everything green up. I curled up in a comfy chair this morning and finished reading my vacation book - The Broker, John Grisham's latest. It was very good. I really enjoy all his books. Now I have a face mask on and need to shower it off in a few minutes so this may have to be a part I of II post. DH and I are debating what to do today. There aren't really any movies we want to see and no where specific we want to go. Maybe we'll just go for a drive. We have lived in this area for 4+ years and we hardly know where anything is. We'll just go explore.

Guess what?! I exercised the past 2 days! I'm slowly getting back on track. I also went to the gym one day on the cruise! That's something!!! A very dear friend of mine - a man that I have known since we were in High School is going through a separation and struggling with his weight right now. We are working together --- we plan on going to Vegas together in June so tonight we are sharing our goals with each other -- we are each setting goals to meet by the time we go on the trip and then we are each rewarding ourselves with something special when we are out there - he wants to rent a Harley - not sure what I will do. He doesn't live near me, but we talk a couple times a day and will help keep each other on track. I tried to get DH to join us with goals, but he is not showing interest - I know he is trying on his own to lose weight, but he's not very open about it. As you can see from my signature, my goal is 15 pounds by the time we leave. I am going to start counting calories again and am planning on no more than 1,800 per day. I will exercise at least 4 days a week - I know I need more, but I am starting with a reasonable goal!

Now I am rambling and this face mask is ready to come off. I'm going to shower and then I'll be back with a cruise recap and hopefully some pics - I haven't downloaded them from the camera yet - and some personals.

Back in a bit!

xoxoxo

Shop....don't stress...if you dwell on one day, you'l get stuck there and won't be able to get back on track. It happens. We live, we eat, we learn, we move on. You can do it!!! Something that has started working for me, is I don't think about food in terms of what I can't have or what is a no-no, but in terms of what I don't eat...that it is a choice I made. It has certainly made many days and scenarios easier for me.

My WW leader says that inside of us is an adult, a parent and a child. When the parent tells the child that they aren't allowed to have soemthing, the child naturally will want to rebel...and given that the adult and parent don't stay up late at night and go out as much on weekends...who is left to rebel and do the eating when nobody else is around...the child. The lesson here being...feed the child on occasion.

I think that last night's steak was a HUGE mistake...I had an awful tummy ache that I went to bed with. With the exception of a hamburger patty that I had on Thursday, last night was the first red meat I have had since before February 1...and I don't think my body was prepared for it. This might be the end of me eating red meat...who knows.

Thankfully, the rain seems to have stopped again. They are forecasting it for most of the coming week, but today there is sun, which is good. My 4-6 graders are supposed to have an outdoor program today, which was rescheduled from a Sunday in February when it rained all day...I was really worried that we'd have to cancel again today.

Anyways...I'm off...time to make some breakfast and get showered so I can be on time for my 11am meeting.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend...

It finally happened, I weighed in today at 392. That's officially down 200 lbs. The idea that I've had to increase my calories in order to start losing again, freaks my brain out, but I'm willing to do whatever if it works. Now I only have 230 more to go. My mini goal is 15 more so I will be halfway home. When that happens, I'm going to buy myself something really nice.

I've had the strangest week. I'm kind of tall for a woman (5'9") but I've been used to living life sitting down. Now that I am able to walk far enough to not need my wheelchair anymore, I'm seeing the world from a completely different angle. Eventhough I've been walking for 4 months now, I was still using my chair for Walmart and grocery store. That was partly because of fear of getting stuck halfway done and needing to sit down or fall down, and partly because my back injury prevents me from bending over frontways. I would have trouble picking something up off a lower shelf. This week I was able to do both. The situps I have been doing have strengthened my stomach muscles so I can use them to offset the bad back. The biggest problem is that now I can't find anything in the store. Everything looks different from higher up. In the checkout line, I was looking off in the distance, and actually experienced vertigo. It is very strange to have trouble with heights just from standing up. Good thing I didn't have high heels on.

The next big hurdles are learning to ride a bike again, and going to a baseball game without my chair. I actually parked my chair in storage so that I don't have it in my van to fall back on. One day soon, I hope to have the courage to donate it to charity. This week I'm going to start on a bathing suit. My insurance pays for the YMCA, and I'm going to start taking advantage of it begining April 1st. I just hope I get the courage to actually cut the suit to fit. Wearing clown pants walking around is one thing. A bathing suit that is several sizes too big might come off in the pool. Now that would be a spectacle.

Good afternoon ladies!

I only have time for a quick report on the Japanese restaurant. Mom has headed back home and we just got home from church. I'm supposed to be working on bills and laundry and then we're headed out to the horses for more training work. The house looks good so I'm glad to be caught up on that. And I need to exercise today too.

We had a great time at the Japanese steakhouse. Mom is from a small town and she's 74 and never have seen anything like that. She was very skeptical to start. We ordered sushi along with the teppan cooked meal. We even ordered sashimi (white tuna, yellowfin tuna, and red snapper). We loved it. I even had the sashimi and liked it in small bites. Mom even ate it and enjoyed it too. She was a hoot. She even tried to catch a shrimp the chef threw at her. It was good for her to have fun with us.

2Cute - You would like the food we had last night. The teppan cooked meal was nothing more than fried rice cooked on a very hot cooking surface at your table; then he cooked veggies (onions, mushrooms and other normal veggies!); our table had teriyaki chicken, shrimp, steak, lobster and scallops. Nothing exotic.

Julee - I am going to check out Whole Foods for their sushi. I definitely want to try it again. That wasabi sauce will knock your socks off though.

Catherine - for your milestone!! You are such an inspiration to us all.

BarbPA - Welcome back! Your mention about your conversation with your friend and goals was thought-provoking. We need something to work towards. I will be thinking more about that. My thoughts are with you on this next cycle of IVF.

Lilion - I have done yoga and really liked it. But it was to a tape only. I do pilates now for strengthening and flexibility and love it. Even at our sizes, it is good to work on that kind of conditioning.

MichelleK - Glad to see you back. You certainly do keep busy!! Hope you make it to the gym!

Shop - Don't beat yourself up for the fast food. Life is what you DECIDE to make of it. Choose to not eat fast food again but don't say its forbidden. Now DECIDE to get back on the exercise track because its what you need for a healthier life. Go get it!

Judy - Good job for counting the points of that Thai food. And for staying OP. And for reminding us that it can be done.

Meliss - Enjoy your visit with your dad!

Okay, DH is calling for lunch now so I better scoot. to everyone else!!! Make this a fabulous day!

Good afternoon all. A beautiful sunny day here. In the 70's !!!!

Terri... your food sounded good. I have always wanted to go to a restaurant where they cook the food at your table. The closest I have come is the Mongolian Barbque cooked in front of me, but at a station ... not our table. It was sooooo good.
I hope we are going there again for the Spring Fling. Mmmmmm good !!!

Catherine... CONGRATULATIONS on your success !!! A great milestone indeed !!!
The doctor's goal for me ... and my goal for me ... are two different weights.
I would happy with with a 150lb weight loss ...
I would be ecstatic with a 175 loss ...
I would be floating on cloud nine with a 200lb loss ....
but doctor's want more like a 225lb loss for my size.
Right now I am still trying to just get to 50 by the Spring Fling.

Julee... I definitely need to get control of the child within me.
You know the type... "I want, what I want, when I want it. "
I need to be the adult and say " I get what I truly want with discipline and commitment.

BarbPA ... It is sooo good having you home again. Sounds like you had a lovely morning and going to have an even nicer afteroon. I can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Michelle .. sounds like you are being very productive today.
I am proud of you... I just could not resist going outside on this lovely day.
My house is really starting to clutter up again. I am going to have to force myself to clean tonight.

Shopaholic.. I agree with everyone else... don't dwell on the past... focus on TODAY !!

Lilion... I love brats too. Sounds like you handled it well.
I always worried about the aribag and sitting so close before. But had a head-on collision a couple of years ago ... and came out uninjured. But I must say... I like being able to have my seat further back now. Having the adjustable pedals makes it nice for both short me... and tall DH.

Loki... I loved your time frame for getting the new bike. Sounded a lot like my life story. LOL

I sure hope I got to everyone who has posted since my last post..
I tried hard not to miss anyone.

I am out of here. I am actually going to go take a short walk. I really really do want to lose that 50lbs by the Spring Fling... and it is going to take more than just thinking about it... it is going to require some AFFIRMATIVE ACTION !!!

Hey Chickees -
I'm back! DH and I had fun driving around. We just got in the car and headed to an area we had never been. We stopped at a little hole-in-the-wall diner place for lunch. It was yummy! We came across a few places we'll keep in mind to go back and visit.

Ok - Cruise update! For those of you that have never cruised - I highly recommend it! A lot of people think you'll be closed up and get bored and claustraphobic - nope - there is more to do on the new, large ships than you could ever do in a week. We love cruising. This was our 4th cruise so we didn't feel obligated to attend every show and activity - we took it easy. Not to mention, the whole reason we took the last minute trip was to get away from the stress in our lives and relax. There are constant activities going on around the ship - everything from bingo, pool-side activities, art auctions, production shows, wine tasting, casino, dancing, karoke.......

We boarded the ship - Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas on Sunday in Port Canaveral. The boarding process was quick and we were in our cabin about 30 min after arriving at the port. We booked a balcony cabin because we love to sit outside and enjoy the sea air and watch the stars at night. The ship left about 5pm on Sunday and we found a spot up on the very front by the bridge to watch us sail away. Sunday night we had dinner with two other very nice couples. This was the only night we ate with them because we had requested a table for 2 and were moved the next night. Normally we enjoy the company and meeting two people, but this trip was about us!
After dinner we strolled on the deck and went to the casino --- most of you know that we like to gamble so the casino was a part of each evening.
OH - and before dinner I had a hot stone massage. OH MY - it was heavenly. Great way to start out the trip. Although, expensive on board. We decided next time we'll get massages the day before we leave.

Monday morning we arrived in Nassau, Bahamas. We love watching the ship pull in to port and seeing the activity of tying up to the dock. It's amazing how they navigate these huge ships. We booked an excursion through the ship to go tour the Atlantis resort. We took a ferry to Atlantis and took a group tour through the grounds of the resort. It's a beautiful place. Then played some cards in the casino. We ended up cutting out of the tour early because I started to feel miserable. I had an allergic reaction to something and started breaking out in rash on my neck and down my chest. I tried to be a good sport, but I could only hang on so long. I decided to go see the ship's Dr. when we got back on board. Thank goodness I did. He gave me an IV Cortisone shot and some prednisone. I started feeling better w/in 30 minutes from the shot!

Tuesday was a day at Sea. We lounged around, sat on the deck reading. Went to the art auction (one of our favorite things to do on board), played shuffleboard, pingpong, scrabble, tried to play the mini-golf they have on board, but it was too windy. Just had a great, relaxing day!

Wednesday we at St. Thomas, USVI. We didn't book a tour through the ship. Instead we got off board and hired a cab at the pier. He gave us a tour of the island, stopping at some scenic areas. It's a beautiful place! They have a great shopping district at the pier - tons of jewelry stores in the caribbean. We had lunch at a little local place and then I spent hours wandering through the stores. I bought some local art and decided on a rainbow topaz ring set in white gold with a matching pendant! That was my treat to myself!

Thursday we were in St. Martin, USVI. Again we didn't book a ship's tour. We got off board and went to a rental car place. We rented a Jeep, got a map and took off! We drove the perimiter of the island stopping at beaches and interesting places along the way. The island is 1/2 Dutch, 1/2 French - when we were on the French side we stopped at one beach that turned out to be a nude beach. We walked around a little, kept our clothes on and left. I wish I was as comfortable with my body as the people there. No one cared what anyone else looked like. There were people of all shapes and sizes just enjoying their day. We planned on doing some more shopping back at the pier, but there was not as much as the day before - probably a good thing cause I didn't spend much more $.

Friday and Saturday were Sea Days. Again, just very relaxing days on board the ship. I treated myself to a facial one day. I had never gotten a full facial before. It was great! Again, lots of lounging around, playing shuffleboard and games, went to a couple bingo sessions - won nothing. Friday was the final art auction where we made our biggest art investment yet. We purchased a limited edition Rembrandt etching - the Raising of Lazarus. We also got a few smaller items. Every cruise we go on we buy some kind of art work. Can't remember what else we did the last couple days. It was just very calm and relaxing.

Sunday morning we were back in Port Canaveral. We were off board about 10:00am. Got a shuttle to a rental car place and drove back to Orlando. We had the day to ourselves so we went to Disney's MGM Studios. It was a beautiful day. We wandered around, went on a few rides -- the Tower of Terror is our favorite --- and had a nice time.

Mondaymorning we caught and early flight home! Back to reality!

There you have the cruise recap. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm going to try to download some pics to share. We didn't take many and I haven't looked at them yet so I can't promise anything. My computer has been acting up and I've been backing things up incase it conks out on me. I tried to dl the pics this morning and it crashed. I'll see what happens.

I'm all talked out. Back later.
