Default 300+ and Ready to Try Again...#669

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday

Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have a bi-weekly 2x2 Challenge.
Our goal is to lose 2 lbs in 2 weeks.
We have a long term goal of losing 300+ lbs within our 300+ group in 2005.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WOW !! Three people posted on the last thread while I was writing and they even upped and moved here while I was writing. That shows you how s l o w I am at posting. LOL

Synn ... thanks for starting our new thread.
Good luck on your LAWL program.
Every time I include a lot of tuna I lose weight that week. YEA for tuna !!!

Julee ... good luck on your dress hunting. I hated buying dresses for my kids weddings
But what I really hated was being so BIG for their wedding.
Hopefully the next wedding I go to I will be at least in twoterville.

Esmarude .. Congratulations !!! 20 lbs is awesome !!!!
And 50 lbs for a yearly goal is definitely doable.
Keep up the good work.

Scooter .. thanks for the web site. I never buy on line because so often I don't like things I try on in stores and it is too much of a hassle to return via mail. I end up with clothes I don't wear.

Lilion ... STAY AWAY FROM THAT SNACK ROOM !!!
I know today it can seem it is "just one bite" .... but it is much more than that.
You are building those refraining muscles. The more we exercise our muscles the stronger they become. Stand STRONG !!!!

Barbg... good to see you peeking in.
I hope your business is stabizing.
We will take you whenever we can get you.
Are you getting back to the gym more again?

Thin... sounds like you were on a downhill roll. {{ HUGS }}
To help with hubby being gone.... keep yourself busy.
Pick a project that your hubby would be shocked to see done when he gets back home. Don't tell him what you are doing. Then work on it full time to get it done before he gets home. Maybe cleaning the office, or your closet or anything that would WOW him when he gets back. A welcome home gift sort of.
It will keep you busy , get a procrastinated project done, Wow your husband, and earn you some brownie points.
If your bedroom is usually a mess ... that is a good project. A nice pretty bedroom often leads to a nicer reward.

Okay.. don't mean to ignore anyone but those are the posters since my last post so I am stopping there.
I am babysitting and don't have time to go back any further.
My granddaughter wants me to play ballerina with her.
That will be a sight to behold.

Being that today is: Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it. I figured I would post what I am wishing for the most.
My biggest wish is to get healthy. And I am going about attaining that goal by not giving up on my weight loss efforts/counselor appointments.
This is the first thing I have done for myself if 10 years or more....so THIS is it!!! I am going to succeed, no matter what. Hey if I get into a size 10 along the way all the better

Good afternoon! My day has started out great! Yesterday was pretty good also. I ate a little more than I needed but all in all not too bad. I did have 2 chances to have a candy bar and declined My kids ate them (from grandma) and I never even had a bite so that is a HUGE victory for me. I love candy bars!
I really cant wait to get my new exercise bike. I want to exercise so bad! I am afraid to do much of anything because of my knee. For some reason my ankle is still swelling too even though it is supposed to be healed. It was almost to normal size for a couple of days and now swelling again. Also, very sore when I walk on it. Go figure!! No more whining.
I was just gonna throw in a suggestion here. Please do not fell pressured. I am not sure if we have had anything like this in the past, but what about a thread completely dedicated to online food journaling? It could be "stickied" for like a month or week at a time. I am just needing to journal and thought it might be a useful tool for others as well. Again, just an idea.Well girls, I have to get ready for work. I will check back in later this evening.

Hugs,
Tracy

Still popping in as frequently as possible! Same excuses as always, but someday I'll finally be able to stop in and play catch up Going home to my parents for a few days today.

I've been doing pretty good! Drinking water = perfect, working out = pretty decent, food = pretty darn perfect too!

I've made some "mini-mini goals" for myself for things I know I haven't seen in a longg timeee:
Under 330
Under 315
And finally to get under 300 and never ever be above it again!

I never thought I'd be excited to just get under 330 or be at 315.. but things change when you realize that for a long time you've been so much higher than that number.

Hope you all are doing well and staying well and on track! I miss you all and I promise I'm still reading whenever I can. I will never give up on any of you as long as you never give up on yourselves!

Much love!

Default Cool Idea/Article

Ok....Here's something cool I just read about on iVillage.com.
Its an article about the weight loss letter from Jonny Bowden (the guy who wrote the Shape Up program) and it sounds absolutely amazing.

The short version is for the next 30 days you get up in the morning, take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror , weigh yourself, and then write a letter talking about:
* your body
* your eating habits
* your trigger situations
* what happened the day before and especially what is likely to happen in the day that is about to unfold
* how your decisions and actions will make you feel tomorrow morning when you sit down to write again
* how the way you eat today will make you feel tomorrow morning when you get on the scale

So this is my goal....to start tomorrow morning first thing. Hey if it will help, I will try it!

Wow, I can't believe the amount of energy I've had today! I'm not sure if it's because I went to bed a little earlier last night (I knew this was going to be a long day at work), the workout I had this morning (I pushed myself a little harder than usual), or if it was finding out I've lost an even twenty pounds. Probably a combination of the three!

I hope I can keep this up.

Hi all! Just checking in again before hitting the bed.

Had a nice day today. Didn't get a darn thing done, but had a 3 hour lunch with a friend. I'm sorry to say that we did NOT behave ourselves. Oh, don't get me wrong, we looked at the nutrition stats for the items we ordered. Ruby Tuesday's now has a folder on the tables that give stats for all the stuff they serve. We looked at it. Does that count???

I have a pretty busy day tomorrow because I didn't do much today. Oh well. Guess I've gotta work sometime.

Hope you are all doing well. I didn't even get a chance to read everything tonight. I did see Tracy's question so I wanted to answer that.

Tracy: You might want to check out the Did You Exercise Today, Weekly Weigh In, and March Challenge threads. You will find all of them here in the 300+ area. You can use any one of them to do your journal in and by the titles you can see that you can choose daily, weekly or monthly reporting venues. The Weekly Weigh In thread IS stickied at the top. The Exercise Today and March Challenge are not stickied but they have been staying towards the top on their own because of the frequent posting there. Hope that helps.

Ok, ladies, I'm outta here. I didn't climb in last night until 2:00 AM and that is waaaay past my scheduled time of midnight. See you all later. Love ya bunches!

Howdy friends. I had a pretty good day too.
I must have walked several miles keeping up with my granddaughter.

Tracy .. I see no problem with starting a food journal thread.
I just think we should save stickies for more permanent info.
If the thread is wrote on regularly it will stay towards the top. If no one posts in it.. then it will move on down. But since it is a daily food journal I see no reason for that to happen.
We just have sooo many stickies already. The challenge threads stay on the main forum without being stickied. Just my opinion ...not law.
I too have thought about starting a thread for the "older" members here ... ( 40+ )
... maybe call it 300+ Old Hens.
But then I think of that song... "I'm too young to be this damn old".

Synn... what is my wish... and what am I doing to make it come true??
My wish is also to be healthier and more mobile. I wish to weigh 298 lbs too.
What am I doing... I am drinking more than 64 oz of water daily . I am not eating foods with sugar or white flour. I am eating low carb. I am reading and posting in sites that inspire me to HANG IN THERE!!! NO MATTER WHAT !! I have even walked !!!

Hi ruby... miss you posting more than just a web site. COME BACK AND CHAT.

CD... sounds like you are doing pretty good. Keep it up girl !!!
But don't forget ... we miss you when you don't post.

Esmaraude... I agree... I think it is a combo of all three.
Doesn't it feel GREAT !!!! Keep up the hard work.

Thin... sounds like you had a better day today than yesterday.
If you are going to "treat" yourself... you darn well better enjoy it.
I am glad you got to relax a bit today.

Terri .. where are you ?? I miss our own little .... but I miss you MORE.

That goes to all of you AWOLers. Stop lurking and start posting again. I NEED YOU !!!

Well .. I had several MAJOR accomplishments today. I had to handle a lot of foods that are not on my food plan since I had my granddaughter her yesterday and today. I did "taste" a few NO NO's ... but I also THREW AWAY anything she did not finish. In my past .. I always cleaned my plate... and theirs. LOL
Also .. I went car shopping late afternoon. My husband is out of town so I used to use that time to eat whatever my heart desired. Not tonight.
I kept trying to talk myself into going to an "All you can eat" buffet... but talked myself out of it more often. Yea for small victories.

I'm a tad bit late on this, but since it's still "Wednesday" for me (Because I haven't went to bed yet heh) I'll post anyway. My wish is to become healthy, learn to truly live life, fall in love and have a family. Before my parents pass away. I know that's a lot but it's all tied up together lol. Honestly though, I would just love to have a family before anything happens to my Mom. She's truly the greatest, most giving person I've ever known and I would love for her to see a grandchild and for them to get to know her. It would be one of the greatest things in her life and it's a gift that I really really wish I could give her. Ok, wish Wednesday done!!

I have been watching the Discovery Health Channel and it is about the American Weight Loss Challenge and then more stories about people who have lost weight ... AND KEPT IT OFF.!!!!!

It has been soooooo inspiring !!!! Oh my , they did it.... and so can we.!!!!

Make the DECISION...... then Dedication !!!!
And of course... exercise.

they all did it differently. Some WW, some low carb, some surgery, ... but they all shared the same COMMITTMENT

commitment to the food , to the water, to the exercise.

I must have watched for 2 hours now.... They are alllllll so inspiring.
they all have lost tons of weight. one guy from nearly 500 to under 200.
Lots of women with 165, 185, etc losses.

They said they couldn't FIND the time to exercise... so they MADE THE TIME.
They said if they focused on being healthy... the weight will take care of itself.
I am soooo glad I saw these many shows.

Good Morning Ladies~
Well I have decided that the take off portion of LAWL stinks , so today I am going to start the regular plan...more food choices, I hate being totally limited in what I can eat. And only veggies and meat (while I love both) is far to limiting for me.

So today is Thankful Thursday . So, what am I thankful for? I am thankful that I have the support of all you lovely ladies, even when it is not within my home. I am thankful that I have made the decision to become healthy, and I am thankful to be alive....even though I am trying to improve the quality of that life, I am still here.

Ok, that about covers it for now...oh for those of you who were wondering my doctor put me on Celexa...I read the list of side effect, we will just see. One of them is lack of appetite , which could help a little as long as I still eat my 3 healthy meals a day.

Good morning,

Just popping in to answer 2Cute about where I've been. Sorry but its been a very difficult week. More issues about BIL. The family, excluding BIL's kids, are meeting with BIL's lawyer this morning. We are concerned about how we make sure BIL's assets are being used for his best interests and how we make sure his wishes are followed not the son's - if we can or if the son gets to do whatever he wants. The doctors are now starting to talk about BIL being plateaued. This is not good. He is in no condition to be at home without constant attention. He would have to go to a nursing home to live. He is only 55. This is all tearing the family to shreds. The thought of him living in a nursing home for the next 20 years or more is breaking DH's heart. He is losing his brother without getting the funeral to grieve over. The BIL does not want to live like that and he knows how he's living so that makes it harder.

I just haven't felt like taking the time to chat. Or even.

I have been getting back into my exercise routine and keeping food within reason. I didn't journal yesterday but I'm trying to get my WW Online journalling going again. Because when I was dedicated to logging it and dedicated to keeping within my weekly points, I was losing steadily. Now I'm plateauing at 244 and sick of seeing that number. Patience and determination.
