Good Morning!
Terra I'm glad it cools off in the mornings and evenings so you can walk. We have had nice weather so far but I am not taking advantage of it. Mind if I ask what prompted you to ask your sweating and exercise question thread?
Fi I feel for you. I get so disappointed when people cancel plans. I must say I think it is wonderful what you are doing for Bob. It is hard when we have different levels of clutter. I know as I age I struggle with feeling claustraphobic if there is too much clutter.
Betsy & Sam are you hanging out with Silent, Jane, Larry,...

Today is a hungry day. I am making sure to get my protein and fats in. I think now I will focus on getting my fluids in.

Good morning all. Don't know where yesterday went as I certainly didn't get anything done around here. One of the good things about retirement is that there's an almost complete lack of stress. One of the bad things about retirement is that there's an almost complete lack of stress.....nothing to drive one to get things done!

Fi Sorry your plans fell through but hopefully can be rescheduled. And, yes, chemistry with another person is both odd and often unexplainable. Keep BERPing. While you're doing it for Bob, I bet you'll love the results once it's finished.
Terra I love that Clyde is still asleep while you're up and at 'em. Enjoy your walks and hope that Clyde enjoys his bath.
Ubee I wish I had found the magic answer as I've been going in the wrong direction again -- and I'm not upset about anything. Why is weighing more than once a week a good or bad thing?

Lots of inside and outside work to be done today especially since I didn't get anything done yesterday. I'm getting closer on getting the yard whipped into some semblance of shape, but definitely wish I'd win that lottery so I could hire a full time gardener who knew the difference between a flower and a weed! Better get hoppin'. Hope everyone has a great day!

Betsy when I weigh daily it determines my eating mood instead of me just staying on plan. I think? If I'm down I feel I have a little wiggle room so I have a treat. If I'm up I feel like giving up and have a treat. I think I'm just goofy in the grape. When I was losing I only weighed once a week. Well thanks for asking, I've just decided I am going to have my daughter drag the scale downstairs and only bring it up Sunday nights so I can weigh in Monday mornings.

Hey All,

Sorry I've kept ya worrying about where I am!! Kinda been one of those weeks where I haven't spent much time on the computer when I came home from work. Made sure I got my exercises in and then DH and I have been going full speed with the beginning stages of planning on building our tiny house. We've decided it is going to be 400 sq ft and will use as much recycled material as we can. We don't have any money saved for it yet but that too is a work in progress. I'm really excited about it and can't wait to get to work on it. It will be nice to be out of an apartment and have some land of our own to do what we want on it.

DH and I had a good day so far...We've spent the past hour getting some food ready to take on a picnic at the state park, now all of the sudden the clouds are rolling in and it's thundering We're still going to go and play it by ear. We were hoping to get to eat then go for a walk on the beach and the trails. I hope it doesn't rain!!!!

Betsy I hope I am like you and don't have a ton of excess skin to worry about, but I have ballooned up and down between 275 to my highest at 340 for about 8 years. My skin has been all kinds of stretched. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones too. If not, I'll cross that bridge when I get there, I'm not too worried about it right now.

Ubee I'm here I'm here!! I know what you mean about wanting to weigh more than once a week...I don't think its necessarily a bad thing, but I know I will get obsessed with the scale if I don't weigh but once, maybe twice a week max depending on the week. I hope it gets easier for you!!

Terra Glad you're getting the walks in! You go girl!!

Fi Sorry you were in pain the other day I hope everything is still going well for you. You're a strong woman and I so look up to you. You are amazing!!

I'm going to keep this short but will check in tomorrow since it is my weekly weigh in...Hoping to make the 60 lb mark this week!!

Have a great evening my family! <3

Well I'm in a distinctly better mood today. I checked in with my niece Margaret, and she did fall asleep last night, just as I figured. But she's coming over tonight! That was an easy re-schedule.

And Margaret's my favorite person today, 'cause she just saved me $450 at the eyeglasses place. She manages another store in the same chain, and so they gave me a family discount of 50%! I got my usual progressives which I don't need for reading or driving but am required to wear in case a cop stops me, plus an extra pair in cheapo frames that'll be only for close work (i.e., snipping w/ scissors): those'll live upstairs in my collage studio. I'm always forgetting to carry my glasses up with me when I go to make a collage, so now I'll have pairs both upstairs and down. And not only that, they said the vessels in my eyes look like those of a much younger person. 'Can't complain about that!

I thought about y'all yesterday: I had another close encounter with cookies. The cream I'd just bought at the Co-op was clotted, so I had to take it back. I had to stand there next to the office window while someone went to check if there was any cream in back that wasn't ruined. Right on a small shelf in front of that window is a basket containing the large vegan cookies I used to binge on: I've mentioned that basket before. Every time someone came up to ask a question at the window, I had to scoot over such that my arm was literally in contact with the basket of cookies. During what was prob'ly only 10-15 minutes but felt like 10-15 years, while they determined that the whole shipment of cream was ruined and got me a refund, I could smell those super-yummy cookies—that's how agonizing it was. But I thought of y'all cheering me on to maintain my binge-free streak since November of last year. I sure was relieved to get out of there =whew= even if I didn't get the cream—a surprisingly essential part of my diet plan, since I have it with my coffee and also on my muesli.

Even today when I was driving home from the eyeglasses place, the thought popped into my head, "While not go by Starbucks' drive-through window and pick up some oatmeal cookies as a reward for all my patience getting my eyes examined, wrangling over frames, yadda yadda?" It's amazing to me that so many months have passed, and still that thought appears spontaneously. How long, oh Goddess above, before it's gone for good? =sigh=

But I'm sittin' pretty now, still cookie-free. =grin=

Good Morning!
Sam & Fi I hope you are both doing the happy dance after weigh in today!
Fi good job with the cookies. I ate at least 10 of them yesterday. I think my daughter now realizes that I can not have them in the house even if they are the healthy ones. Glad Margaret was able to reschedule and save you $$$!
Sam I am so excited for you and your tiny house. How much land will you need to build on? Will it be in town or the country. In our area if you build in the country it needs to be on at least 10 acres.
Terra I think you need a louder alarm!

I'm trying not to beat myself up about eating so much food yesterday BUT how long will it take for me to finally get it????????

Ubee ~ Yeah Im glad it cools off in the morning and evening so Im able to walk, I asked the sweating/exercise question cause I was curious about it, I was thinking if I was sweating by the time my walk was over I wasnt working out hard enough. Yeah I think your right, Im gonna buy a louder alarm clock.

Betsy ~ Yeah, Clyde looks so cute when he is sleeping, He did enjoy his bath, I'll be sure to enjoy my walks today.

Sam ~ LOL Thanks

I woke up at 6:30 am, So far today I've taken my pills and thats it, Im about to go on my morning walk here in a few mins. I gave Clyde a bath last night so he is all clean now. Today I should probably work on cleaning my room again, It isnt that bad, I just need to straighten up and stuff. I also took my shower yesterday as well. So after I clean my room the only other thing I have to do is go for my evening walk and then my day will be complete.

Terra - you are so dedicated with the walking and with the housework. I wish I had your dedication

Ubee - I think i'll never truly get it. Dinner last night was chicken fingers and poutine followed by ketchup chips. Not healthy by any m eans... lol.

Fi - I don't know i think it gets easier to say no but not sure if the 'idea' ever goes away completely.

Good morning all. Happy summer! It was still light/dusky last night around 10 PM and made me realize how much I love this time of year. For those of you much farther north, I imagine you can easily beat the light at 10 PM notation.....just so much better than dark at 4:30.

SilentArctic Glad to see you posting and there are going to be days when you have chicken fingers and poutine and ketchup chips (had to look those up -- didn't even know they made them), but that doesn't mean you're losing the battle. I look on it as occasionally being able to have meals like that knowing that I won't have them every day. Of course, my problem is that once I go in that direction, it's very hard to get back to "good" eating. And I agree with you. I don't think the idea ever goes completely away.
Terra Sounds like you've got the day mapped out. Glad Clyde enjoyed his bath and that you've got your walks planned out.
Ubee We are so much alike I swear we are twins separated at birth! I, too, play the scale game and realized that I do the exact same thing. How come regardless of what the scale says, our reaction is to have a treat? Sorry the Cookie Monster hit yesterday. The cashew monster hit me the other day -- in more ways than one without getting too graphic!
Fi Hope your visit with Margaret went well and you had a good time. Plus the savings on glasses is a very nice benefit! Glad you were able to resist the cookie monster. Evidently he went to visit Ubee instead. And I'm with SilentArctic in that I don't think those longings ever go completely away. I gave up smoking cigarettes 14 years ago, and I know today that if I ever lit up another one I'd be back to my 2 packs a day in no time.
Sam Hope you were able to get your picnic in. Hope you hit the 60 pound mark with your weigh in today.

More yard work today. It's slowly coming together and I know that eventually I will get everything whipped into shape. I definitely don't want it to get so out of hand ever again. Finally heard from my friend that he's planning on arriving around the 4th of July so that gives me a goal to shoot for. Toby needs me to do something about his grooming. Part of the challenge is that he's a little wiggle worm! Have a great day.

Good Afternoon!

I got to sleep in today and I guess being so busy lately I needed the extra rest. DH and I got stuck in the rain yesterday but we really didn't mind. It was really cool to be out in nature while it rained.

I'm happy to announce that I lost the little extra weight I had gained last week from that wedding plus a few pounds!! I weighed in at 278!! I lost 6 lbs and am now out of the 280s!! Yippie!!!

Ubee We are really excited about the house. We are looking to find an acre or so to build on in an unincorporated area of the county so there's no worry about HOAs. We haven't decided how far into the country will be and we are also open to look for land in the next county over. We have been looking at cob houses last night and are leaning towards building one of those because of how easy it is and how well the structures last. We're just in the planning stages so of course we'll probably make a million changes before we actually go and build. It really is exciting!!

May try and walk at the river walk in a little town not far from me today and work on abs this evening. Life feels so good right now I'm so happy and at such a good place with planning my future and losing weight. I consider myself very lucky for how things are going.

Love ya'll and hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!

Good Morning!
Terra glad Clyde had a good bath. Thanks for answering my sweating question. My thought is moving is good whether we sweat or not!
Sam love your new picture, cob houses, and 278!!!
Betsy yard work, house work, finances, obesity... best if we don't let it get out of hand. I am seeing a pattern. Take care of business everyday...
Silent I am going to have to look those foods up. Maybe it is better if I don't. All I need is more temptation.
As Silent would say BOO! I am up two pounds and it is not water weight.
Good news is I ate all the tempting foods so there aren't anymore. (Pathetic I know!)
Forward we go!

Good morning. Where is everyone today....or am I just early?

Sam -- Sounds like a great weekend and big CONGRATS on getting out of the 280s and hitting that 60 pound loss goal. You are really rockin' it and so glad that you're experiencing so much happiness. Had to look up what a cob house is -- the pictures of them are adorable!
Terra -- Totally understand about not wanting to be outside when it's that humid. I was back home in Illinois a couple of years ago and basically didn't want to go outside because it was so hot and humid. Ick!

Yesterday I spent 5 hours doing yard work and 4 hours working on updating a web site that I developed for one of the service clubs in town as part of my volunteer/support the community efforts. Haven't worked that many hours in a long time and it reminded me of why I like retirement so much. Food wise, I'm continuing to struggle every single day. Hopefully some day I'll get my act together again.

Hey all

7 days until I leave! Super excited!

Last night was graduation, always a nice event.

Today I came into work and had received an email from one of my graduating students, thanking me for what she's learned this year. It was such a nice letter, it just made my year.

I have some nice plans with friends over the next few days, then on Saturday I check into the hotel and Monday morning I fly home!

I am also planning a trip to Tiffany's at Heathrow Airport, to see if I can find something to give myself for my 30th birthday!

Hope you all are doing well

Betsy - It feels like thats every day lately. Always making excuses I'm bad for that. All that yard work probably isn't making eating any easier. I just ate whatever the past couple days while helping my friend move. All that physical activity really made me a hungry-hungry-hippo.

Ubee - LOL I feel odd you quoting me, the foods are canadianisms I guess. Poutine a quebec dish which is fries with gravy and cheese curds. But you can get it anywhere now... and ketchup flavored potatoe chips. Now availabel in the states i believe but formerly one of those things you could only get in Canada. Just another flavor of chips, like sourcream and onion or salt and vinegar. We have and love... ketchup flavored. Pretty routine junk food around here.

Sam such exciting house plans

Time - Hope you find an equisite self-birthday present.
