Default Back again

After doing really well on my diet, in January I got sick with a sinus infection that just would not clear up. Finally about six weeks ago the ENT, who completely dismissed my infection despite a CT scan that clearly showed I had infections, prescribed meds for laryngopharyngeal reflux (not quite the same thing as GERD) just to shut me up. And the meds seem to be working, so all's well that ends well I guess.

I'm back on 3FC now, having gained about 8 pounds since I couldn't exercise until recently without triggering another infection. I got a pedometer so I'm counting my steps every day too. But it's pretty discouraging since I was doing so well and then waylaid by health problems yet again. I'm going on a vacation and was so hoping to have lost significant weight by then -- I would have had nine months to lose weight, but now I've lost 4 1/2 of those months. What a pile LOL

Stranded - welcome back! I'm sorry to hear you were dealing with such terrible sinus infections, and even more sorry to hear that your doctor would not do anything to treat it until recently! I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better though and back on track! Are you following any particular plan or are you just keeping track of what you eat / calorie counting?

Thanks! Right now, just keeping track of everything. That was what worked for me before.

I'm sorry about your sinuses! That is no fun. My boyfriend is just getting over one lasting about a month. He gets them terribly. If you dont' mind my asking, what do you take for laryngopharyngeal reflux? Is it supposed to aide the sinus tracts?

I'm on omeprazole 20 mg a day, which is for the reflux-type stuff. Apparently when you have reflux, even if it's very mild and you don't realize you have it, it can cause irritation in the throat which makes it easy to get an infection in the throat and sinuses. Controlling the reflux should ostensibly reduce infections.

I also use nasal saline rinses every day and have a prescription steroid nasal spray too, because my seasonal allergies are part of the problem.

I sympathize with your boyfriend! I hope his sinus infection is gone for good.
