Default What do you eat for breakfast?

I'm horrible at eating breakfast. I don't like having anything too heavy feeling in the morning. Also, I'm a horribly picky eater. I'm working on it but it's a sloooooow change.

I don't like plain eggs
I don't like most veggies (but I'm really trying to experiment with them)

I'm interested in protein shakes (making my own?)
I'm also interested in Quinoa, heard of it but know nothing of it.

Any input or feedback would be supper helpful! Thanks!

Do you like Yogurt? Greek Yogurt is filling and it has a nice creamy texture so I like to have that for breakfast.

I've never tried Quinoa or protein shakes.

Lol...that's another thing I don't like. I really wish I did because there are so many flavors out there. But yogurt just seems to have this bad tangy taste to me. I think I'm hopeless.

I don't like most yogurt. The only ones I can stomach are peach and peach pomegranate from Kroger. I haven't tried the greek yogurt yet.

My most common breakfast is a sandwich I make with whole wheat english muffin, 1 scrambled egg that I cook in the mocrowave in a ramekin, a turkey sausage patty, and a slice of fat free american cheese. It is areound 320 calories I think. It fills me up and it tastes good. I don't like plain eggs either, but on this sandwich, you cant tell. I toast the muffin a little too. Other times I eat instant oatmeal and I occasionally have a bowl of cereal or if I am in a hurry and on the go I will grab a crunchy Nature Valley granola bar. Sometimes I will use turkey bacon instead of the sausage.

I'm the same way, I don't like eating much in the morning and I'm picky. I usually eat a bowl of goldfish or brown sugar pop tarts but I'm trying to eat better. Today I had a piece of toast with peanut butter melted on it. (I don't like soft bread or thick sticky peanut butter) I've also been eating the Special K Vanilla Almond. It's a little bland but I can usually make myself eat a serving a couple of times a week, bad thing is I feel hungry 30 min after eating it :/

My favorites are ...

-- egg on english muffin w/chz & ketchup (sometimes w/ham)
-- egg (any way) & 1 wg toast (sometimes with lean bacon)
-- 1.5 egg omelette with chz/ketchup
-- medium wg bagel & peanut butter
-- Oatmeal or Natural Cream of Wheat
-- Homemade Muesli
-- whole grain cereals/milk + fruit
-- toast & peanut butter and/ homemade jam
-- often have a fruit too (banana or orange)

PS ~ about yogurt: only the plain yogurt tastes bitter -- buy the fruit ones; they are terrific! Kinda like eating pudding, only with fruit. My favorite brand is Source by Yoplait (they have dozens of flavors).

No Prob! I actually started doing that with whole wheat bagels in an attempt to curb my desire for my McD's bacon, egg and cheese bagel craving. I actually liked my better! I have switched to the muffin since it has less calories and carbs. I still do the bagel thing sometimes though. It's around 400 calories with the bagel. I make little pizzas too with whole wheat tortilla, mozarella and turkey pepperoni. I have tons of ideas. Add me to your buddy list and I can share there. I don't want to clog this tread with off topic chat. lol

I have a LF whole-grain frozen waffle with half a tbsp of natural almond butter, and 10-12 large strawberries with 6oz of plain greek yogurt. Keeps me full for hours! I have to admit though, a large part of that may be the sheer slooooow speed with which I eat the yogurt.. lasts me a good hour coz I hate the stuff!!!

I have a protein shake every morning. 1% milk, whey protein powder, banana, frozen strawberries, flax seed and cinnamon.

I like quinoa but not sure I would like it for breakfast. I like it in places where I would have used rice in the past.

I have my shake at 7:30 and I don't feel hungry at all until just before lunch.

Do you like cottage cheese? I love cottage cheese on toast buttered with a little spray butter.

A bowl of plain old unsweetened cheerios and your choice of milk is always good.

Not sure how you feel about processed foods, but the SmartOnes breakfast frozen entrees are pretty good too.

I make 44 oz smoothies in the blender for breakfast.

Main ingrediants
Liquid (soy milk, almond milk, sunflower milk, coconut water)
Spinach (lots)
Kale
Carrots
Flax Seeds (Omega-3)
Banana
Frozen Peas
Frozen fruit (strawberries, peaches, blueberries)
2 dates or figs (added for sweetness)

Other ingredients
Apple
Pear
Melon
Cucumber
Celery
Blackberries

The smoothie is filling and contains 3-4 servings veggies and 3-4 servings fruit. The fruit masks the taste of the veggies and the dates add a little extra sweetness. Breakfast is the most important meal and this sticks with me throughout the day. I'm not even hungry at lunchtime.

My diet though is laden heavily in fresh veggies and fruits. I don't eat dairy/cheese, bread/rice/grains, meat, sugar (natural or artificial), and I use oil sparingly (like once a week). So where your calories might be spread across other categories, mine all go towards fruit, veggies, beans/legumes, and a few nuts/seeds.

And quinoa is delicious! I use it to replace rice in all of my cooking. It is very easy to cook. Use twice the water as you do quinoa. Rinse your quinoa in a fine mesh sieve (or skip if you don't have one haha). Boil water in small pan. Add quinoa to water and turn down to low. Cover pan and wait until all the water is absorbed.

I buy my quinoa in the bulk food section (at HyVee) as it is cheaper than the stuff you get on the shelf. (I buy a lot of bulk foods - beans, nuts, seeds mainly)

I am absolutely horrible with breakfast. But if I do eat it, I have a banana or a bowl of Quaker Raisin, Date & Walnut oatmeal.

I usually do a banana and greek yogurt, but I get that the latter isn't everyone's thing. My best friend, for instance, can't stand it; he says that it tastes "funky." He likes regular yogurt, which I don't like because of the texture.

I also like steel cut oats; they fill me up for ages.
