How do you stay motivated after that pink cloud phase is over?

This is me preparing myself for the future. Yeah, I know.. one day at a time. But seriously I know what's to come, I've been there before.
I get all gung ho about eating right & exercising and then after about a month I start to lose the motivation once the pink cloud is over, then it all starts to go down hill.

So how did you do it? How do you do it?

takes lots of pics! so you see the difference! try the same article of clothing on every week and notice how it starts to fit your body differently! I take a picture after every 10 lbs loss and I take a picture once a month on the same day wearing the same outfit in the same spot in my house. comparing to the first photos YOU see the difference! that's what keeps me motivated! when you see yourself every day at least for me I see the same person I don't feel or look to myself like I've changed but you DO change and it's noticeable when you look for it!

That is a great idea, thank you!
I once saw on some site I cant think of right now, a person took a picture of their self every single day for like 5 years. I was quite amazing to see the transformation.

hpnodat - I was going through this very same thing a week ago. It takes me a little less time to get bored, but the feeling is the same - why should I?

taking pictures is a great idea - you can really start to see the difference. For me, on those super tough days when I didn't want to do anything - I just forced myself to do it. And again the next day. and the next. By the fourth day, I wanted to do it. It was routine. It made me feel good. It's an accomplishment.

So you may have to tough it out sometimes, but you will find motivation on the other side of that. You're a strong lady - you can do it!

I am struggling with motivation right now. It seems like at first, we lose weight quickly, and then it starts to slow down to a more normal pace, and the motivation starts to wane as well. That is what I am dealing with right now.

What I try to do is think about the future. Do I want to be right back in the same place next July as I am this year, or if I just stick with it will I at least make some progress, even if the progress is slower than I am happy with?

Someone had a line in their siggy, and I do not remember who, that said "A year from now you will wish you had started today."

I just keep telling myself, stick with this, and a year from now you will be healthier and happier!

I always find that rewarding myself along the way helps. Once I lose x amount I am getting a pedicure, facial, new shirt, etc. Obviously knowing that you are getting healthy to live a long life is its on reward, BUT material things always light a fire under me when the motivation starts to wane.

With all the money that I'm saving by not eating fast food and going out to eat I should be able to buy myself lots of material things.

I wish I could get fired up by a mani, pedi or new shirt. Unfortunately the only thing that gets me really fired up is going to a new restaurant.

I do enjoy fishing and taking small day trips to various places and I never do it because of life happening so maybe I can reward myself with a day trip for losing x amount of weight.
