We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.
We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.
We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.
Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.
We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.
I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.
If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.
Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

I have to work today, but I hope some of you get a day off and can snuggle under the covers for a while (before you get your exercise in, and log it on the exercise thread!!)

There is an ad in yesterday's paper for a person who wants to learn to become a personal trainer. They will train. I called him first thing this morning and left a message with someone for him. I hope he calls me back and I can bring in a resume and my scrap book. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Melissa – Hey girl! I haven’t seen you in a long time!!! How is everything?!
Annie - Yes, I suppose. It's just hard to give up that 'freedom' so to speak, you know? Heh.
Sharon - Hello!!! So good to see that you are still posting here! Yes, I've been back to my natural color for about a year and a half, almost 2 years now. Thinking about going purple, but not 100% sure about that just yet. lol.
It’s another cold, cold day here in Michigan, so I don’t think I’m going outside today. I’m feeling quite sick as well, so probably no workout today. I need to get my ‘re-start’ weight sometime before I eat today. I also need to get around to doing some homework, but I figured I would do a bit of a ‘catch up’ post, since I haven’t been here in quite a while….
Really, not a whole lot is new with me. Just work & school, but they have certainly kept me busy! I was actually wrongfully terminated from my job (looooong story), the week before Christmas. I’m currently fighting my termination, and there’s actually going to be investigation into the shady work ethic & practices going on there. And I was on the front page of the paper with my story last week, and a bunch of long-time employees have left due to all the stuff that’s been going on there.
I’ve transferred colleges, and finally, the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight! I have until the end of this year, if not until May next year, and I’ll be finished finally! I changed my major again, and then changed it back for good this time. Lol. I just couldn’t figure out just what I wanted to do with my life for a long time, but I’m set on being a Paralegal now for sure. This semester is going to be tough. I decided to sign up for 5 Law classes. Bleh. I’m taking Legal Ethics, Legal Research, Tort Law, Family Law, and Bankruptcy Law. Just keep my ‘eyes on the prize’, so to speak!
My boyfriend & I had to both move back home due to a lot of financial setbacks. Not the best situation, but we’re making it work! Heh.
My weight has been up & down over the past year. As you all know (or some of you may remember), I started my journey at 350 lbs. I lost 75 lbs, and then gained it ALL back, PLUS 30! I topped out at 380 lbs, when I re-started with a new exercise & eating plan back in September. I’ve lost about 25 lbs, and I’ve been off the eating since November. Been keeping up with my workouts, but not so much the eating. I’m back on track now for the past two weeks, and I need to weigh, and see what my starting is. I’m 22, almost 23 years old, and I’m so sick of living my life this way! I’m held much more accountable, and thus do a lot better in the long run. So I NEED to be back here, and I WANT to be back here!
Hello ladies :]
I'm not in a very good mood today because I had a WI this morning and I didn't see a loss. It's very depressing, especially because I've only been on a diet for two weeks. I have been OP and exercised but it seems like it's not good enough for a weight loss.
I'm up to my neck in homework so I don't have time for personals, and I'm obviously feeling fed up due to the fact that I didn't lose any weight. Sorry if I sound selfish, it's just I've never been on a diet for this long and worked hard staying OP.
update on my brother..he had surgery today to clean out the bedsores. THEy are hoping to transfer him to a local hosiptal in the next few days. Mom is still with him..his wife had to go back to work for fear of losing her job.
Flowers are finished.I spent alot of time just watching my friend make them. When dd tried on her wedding dress and veil and held her flowers she cried. She is thrilled and i think the reality of it all set in. I fought the tear back...she is so beautiful!! I am taking tonight off and will start back with sewing tommorow and will start back exercising.
Eating wasnt the best today..we had pizza hut meatlovers pizza...I had most of 2 sllices...rare occasion.
I am increasing water to help flush it out..
hugs to all
Julia, it's fine. I usually don't get up too early to start calculating the BLC so if you get it in there before I start, it's good.
Sharon, I hope you feel better soon. It's so hard to stay OP when you feel cruddy.
Annie, got up to 2000 today. I only got in about 982 yesterday, that's really bad. At least I made a mile today though. Each day I'll add more steps.
I hope they call you back about the personal trainer. It would be awesome to be trained for free. That's my kinda class!!
Melissa, YAY for being down 2.8 lbs. That's great progress!!
Kayley, sounds like you're really getting your life in focus. It's great that you have such a short time left in school. I hope it goes really fast for you and you ace all your classes. That's quite a few classes you're taking!!
Beth, don't get so down on yourself kiddo! When you exercise alot, your body will tend to hold on to the water to repair itself. It's a shock to the bod to be going thru this, so it's going to struggle to hang on to every little fat cell it can. Don't worry, it WILL come off.
Debi, hope you're brother can be moved and closer to home. Hopefully all the sores will close up and he can be up and around again.
Today we went to the dump. Ick! Such a pain. We were unloading trash and out comes a teeny little mouse. He's cute but still don't want them running around outside. Here Annie is lucky to have moose roaming around, all we get is mice and the llamas! LOL
Did good on getting more steps in and so far so good on staying OP today. Just have to get thru tonight, and I made a whole day. It's a big step for me!!
Kayley - Hey! Welcome back! I'm a fly-by poster, lol, I can never keep up with personals. Well, me, I'm doing good. Still with my guy of nearly 5 years, we got our little place, doing all that stuff. I should show you a picture of my doggie now, she's such a cutie! I think I have you on MSN Messenger still, lol. Anyways, welcome back, I'm sure you'll do great.
Sorry I have been MIA for the last couple of days it is because I am tired and a bit short on time. My DH is still having big trouble in the teeth department and looks like a hampster due to swelling. He is now on 2 lots of antibiotics and pain killers. He is having broken sleep due to pain and hence so am I. Due to him feeling well under par I am having to do a lot more myself. It takes me a long while due to only having so much energy in a tank plus things in general take me longer as my body does not work properly. It is hard to see the person you love in so much pain and look so unwell. So my turn has come to take care of him like he normally does for me without complaint.
Not able to do the grocery shop at the minute as I do not drive a car and getting a taxi is very expensive as the nearest supermarket is 5 miles away one way. I can pick up emergency supplies from a local corner shop so have done that to tide us over rather than drag DH around shop when he is struggling so much. Pain killers have made him wobbly on his legs at time and I can't keep him upright I have enough trouble keeping myself from falling over. So it has been a case of looking what is in the cupboards and freezer and seeing what I can come up with that is healthy but nutritious. I am doing OK so far and it is definitely make me plan even more days a head than I normally do. I would normally plan tomorrows menu today but I know for the next couple of days what were having for the day. It has been a good excuse for me to use up the last of bits of bobs. I am sure that it has made me save on the grocery bill as I am not being so extravagant as I might of been. It reminds me of my days when I was a pupil nurse ( trainee nurse) on a ridiculously low wage and having a tight budget to feed/clothe etc yourself on. I am sure that it is good once in a while to make you do that to appreciate how much you actually do have.
Sorry I do not have the time or energy to answer all posts personally but I really wanted to drop by to say hello and keep me on that all important path of the straight and narrow.
Had to purchase new scales the other day as ours had died a death and were throwing out any old figure despite changing the battery. These scales are all singing and all dancing. They do your weight , BMI and body fat and store this in the memory. I jumped on the scales and guess what it says I am heavier than my ticker says well by 4lbs. Never goes the other way 4lb lighter So I am afraid it will not look so good on the old TBL challenge Well at least it is better than the old scales of giving weird and wonderful figures plucked out of thin air.
The worrying thing is DH has but a considerable amount of weight on in a week 14lbs. He has eaten a couple of times off plan but nothing to warrant this weight gain in my opinion. I am hoping that it is a combination of being ill, medication and lack of exercise. If matters do not resolve shortly I will be sending him off to the doctors tut sweet. I know there are a few medical conditions that can cause weight gain thyroid not working correctly, liver not working properly, diabetis and heart trouble to name a few off the top of my head.
Baz xo I see that you did not lose any weight this week please don't give in keep up with the good work. I can tell you from my own personal experience even looking at my records from the beginning I did not lose every week, but usually the next week when weight day came round I would have lost something like 5lbs. I had a pattern of not losing one week and losing the next. It just seems to be how my body worked it maybe the same for yours. I can tell you I loved the weeks when the weight loss was good so they tided me over the weeks when I didn't lose because I would think yes next time I am going to have a good weight loss.
One thing I would recommend as well is measure your body with a tape measure and record those readings. You may find that you have lost inches/cm rather than weight so that week it has changed by toning up and given good readings in that department. So progress is not always seen in the scales department and I know at times you want to throw the scale as far as you can. So stick with it the results will come
dgramie Sorry to hear that your brother has had a set back in his road to recovery. I have you and your family in my thoughts and wish for a speedy recovery
All my news for now I am going to have a rest now whilst I can so take care and catch up with you all soon
Sorry Purpleorc, that your hubby is still feeling bad. WTG on looking out for OP foods in your cupboards!!!xxxxxx
Kayley, ooh PURPLE!!! I had fuschia (SP??) sides in my hair & the rest was a purple/plum colour, I wish I was young & brave enough to go purple!!. I need a hat like yours, it's so cold & my ears are hurting.xxxxxx
Julia hope the new job goes well, it's such a shame some people let her down that way, especially when she's so reliant on helpers. I hope she appreciates you organising her stuff & helping her.xxxxxxx
Annie, good luck with the trainer training! Hope it turns out to be genuine & right for you.xxxxxxxx
Bax, well you did LOSE SEVEN POUNDS last week!!!!! lol I love the 'finger print' t shirt (your mum sent me pics of your Christmas) you had on. I'm sure next week you'll see another good loss!xxxxxxx
Well my head is still sore but I'm sitting here like a Sultana (no NOT the fruit, lol!!!) with a home-made turban on to keep my ear & cheek warm. Looks sailly but it's helping with the pain so I don't care!!
Hope you are all staying warm, healthy & safe.xxxxxxxxxx

I started school yesterday, and went to the pool today. She really worked us out. Did a new routine with the dumbbells, and can really feel it. I'm getting my blood work done on Friday to see if my thyroid needs increasing again. Saturday is the first book club meeting. I got some great questions from someone who read the book who's a English grad. Perfect for the purpose, and infinitely better than I could have done. Now I just have to survive it.
