  • Dr Rat - have you ever tried fish oil for the knee? I'm going to I think while I wait for the hyalgan injections to arrive.

Morning all - have a great day.

Move your body, drink your water and SMILE.

    Hugs,
    Carol
  • Funny you should bring up fish oil... I was just thinking of getting some Glucosamine/Chondritin to help (the cool ingredients in the fish oil). Never hurts to add some lube to all the joints as I get older.

    Hugs to all!

  • Anne, I gave up on the last challenge to due to me not really wanting to lose weight. I did it this time as a motivator, and so far it's working. I just needed something to get me going again. The thread is hard to keep up with though. I just go in and post a couple of times to let them know I'm still in it. I don't do personals on there, it would be impossible to keep up, although some people do.

Annie, Hey you cardio queen!!! You're really movin' it! Keep it up!

Bernice, sounds like you're getting things under control. Sometimes we need to re-evaluate our program and it sounds like that's just what you did.

Carol, yes, it definitely is a love/hate relationship with exercise. Yesterday I got out a toning dvd with Richard Simmons. It was using weights for endurance and strength. It kicked my butt and it was only a 30 minute one, but I sure feel it in my arms today. Not so much in the stomach as we had to crunches too. I have to mix it up or I get too bored with it. How did your trainer mix things up on you?

Cyn, yep, I like the father/daughter team too. So glad to hear the allergies are gone for now! Yay on the food challenges!

    HI Jen,

Ratkity, are you forgeting how much bike riding you just did? I'm sure the knee pain has something to do with that. That's what you get for trying to keep up with Senior BikerChick!!

NuevaVida, I have the treadmill that can be hooked up to iFit but I don't have the cord either. I really didn't even go check it out. Do they have free programs? I wouldn't want to buy it until I know I would like it.

HI Debi, last night on Etsy, they were having critiquing on the stores so mine was one that was picked. She told me quite a few useful things, and so now I have to look for a new banner, cuz I suck at making them, and also to broaden my horizons and make some earrings, keychains, magnets, etc out of my stuff to make even more money. She even told me I should raise prices. I dunno so much about that, but the other things sound interesting. I'll probably stick to my polymer clay. I find it to be the medium I like the best. But thanks for the idea of the salt dough.
I totally hear ya on feeling sad about the kids growing up. It's a good feeling to know that you raised them to be independent loving people, but still its so hard to let go.
Great news on the little granddaughter. She's going to be here before you know it and just in time for the holidays.

Yep, fall is in the air. The leaves are starting to fall and you can almost feel it. I just love it! I went out picking more blackberries yesterday amongst all the dang spiders. EW!!!! I hate them. I have about 19 cups of berries now. Hopefully that will be enough to make about a dozen jars of jam. Yum!
Everything is going good here. OP wise, water wise, and exercise wise. I'm feeling the power!!!
    have a good day!
    Debbie
  • My dear, gorgeous Annie! YOU LOOK AWESOME & I Love your latest avatar! I could never have worked at the HS myself. I know someone has to, but it can’t be me. I’ve been MIA for so long, I don’t even know where you’re working these days. You were looking last time I was here.

I’ve started a new 4-H club, as well as working FT, cleaning stalls Wednesdays, playing with ponies and all that other stuff. Oh yeah, and I’ve been eating.

For those of you who don’t know or remember me, I started at almost 340 and lost 70 pounds about 3 years ago. I stalled in the 270’s, which snuck up to about 282-284, and then one day last week when I KNEW things weren’t good, I was up past my “Magic Number.” For me the magic number is 290., and I was at 292. I’ve been back on track and pressed it back down 6 pounds, but the 280’s shouldn’t be my comfort zone anymore, either.

I have a friend that’s really kicking it lately, so we’re going to try together. I don’t want to be that person that screws her up. You know the one – the enabler who’s either jealous or just failing themselves who is always around to say ‘Oh come on – let’s go for ice cream/ Mexican food/ beer & whatever.’ I’ve watched even people here on this list who were doing great until a ‘loved one’ sabotaged their efforts. I want to be there with her, cheering her on as she succeeds, and succeeding myself.

Time is always the problem. I don’t have time to post (and don’t make time when my guilty little conscience isn’t doing well or even trying to.) I don’t have time to exercise (even tho I have time to eat and play on the computer.) I think I better start making time to do something, before I run out of time altogether. I’m going to start by walking at the track with my friend. It’s a start. And once again I’m going to try to get back here and answer for my sins. If I recall correctly, the cheering section here on 3FC makes al the efforts worth while.

And for those of you who know my boys, they’re all doing great! Max & Simon have found a bit of skunkweed to roll in. Gabe, Steega & Cody have had a few days living outside while the power was out at the barn. Cody came in looking more pregnant than ever last night. That little boy can really put the grass away! Gabe & I are doing great, or as good as we can do until I really lose the weight.

Well, that’s my book for the moment. I’ll probably do more lurking than writing, but I’ll be here. I luv yous guys!

Greetings and blessings to Brenda, Cyn, Catherine, Debbie, Carol, Julia, Luan, Anne, Bernice, Ratkity and all my other old friends!
  • Bernice: I think that from what you wrote Water is the key that you need to keep yourself going more during the day. That and eat some breakfast before you go to work.

Carol: I did like the BL. I like the same girl you do. It was so awesome that she did that for her dad!

Cyn: glad that your allergies are better.

Jen: Welcome. I'm glad Debi invited you to come join us. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Rat: Ouchie. I hope your poor little knee is better very soon. Hugs.

Nueva: Great news about the bike.

Debi: Hugs to you on all of those emotions. I don't have children but as my black dog gets older I get sad about it. I understand a little bit. lol. Hugs.

Debbie: I hope that you are able to find many, many things to do with your little clay people beads. Like possibly some earrings? They are soooo cute. Great job exercising too.

Val: Hi there sweetie. So glad that you are back on track. I know that you can do it hun. Pull up your boots and buckle in! Thanks for the lovely compliments on my avatar. Glad all your boys are doing so well. There is a draft horse and mull show this weekend that I am hoping to get to go to. They are going to have some gypseys there and some fresias too. I'd love to snuggle one on the nose up close and personal. I'm working about 15 hours per week at Netflix right now. Not enough hours so I am still searching for another part time job.

I have yet another interview this morning in about an hour at Hospice as a secretary pt. I will see how this one goes. lol. Hope you all have a great day today. I am ready for a little nap. I am so pooped this week. Don't know what is going on other than possibly not enough sleep. lol.

    Blessings all,
    Annie
  • Rat - so what about taking fish oil in addition to the G/C? I've been doing the G/C for about a year and I can tell when I miss - also DHs doc told him to take it to help his slightly elevated triglycerides. Whaddya think doc?
  • Hey just thought I would fly through to see how all are doing?

Debbie-That's exciting you are getting treadmill and ab thing workin for ya!! Way to go!
    Rat-how's the knee today?
    dgramie-how's today going?
Carol-not doing well on water lately. not doing well on exercising either. so-so on sleeping. just kinda stressful around here. Imagine that! Time to color the hair again, more gray showing up!

Well today I have to go and work concession stand at the football game. It is a beautiful day so only a couple of hours. They have great support from parent volunteers that we go in 2 hour shifts. I gotta keep going or I will go crazy!(for real). Maybe getting out to the game will help me get a little motivation! Thanks all for the kicks in the butt! Penny
  • Valllllllllllllllllll !!!! So good to see ya!!! Well, here's a to get you on the right track. So glad all the horsies are doing well and give a big ol lump of sugar to Gabe for me.....none for you. We're here for you always.

Annie, thanks. They're fun little things. I'm going to make some earrings, keychains, ornaments. Just dabble in a bit of everything. Get some rest cutie! You deserve it.

Penny, Just getting out and around people might be the ticket to get you out of the doldrums. to ya!!

Well, gotta go check in on the BL thread. They're probably on their 2000th post at least. lol.
Tonight I'm making baked salsa chicken. Sounds good and will give me that mexican flavor I so love.
    toodles
    Debbie
  • Debbie-Salsa chicken sounds really yummy! I know what the mood is I just have to figure out how to deal with it and get past it. It could be a while.

Well the concession stand work went really well tonight. We were busy for 2 jr. high football games. We kept running out of hotdogs and had to keep grilling more. Of course they were frozen and we had to thaw them. But all in all it was a good night. Then hubby called when I got home and he is still pretty stressed. Pray please. He has decided that he is not quite ready to take the test tomorrow. He talked to the instructor on how to prepare and he told him some good points. So lots of studying and lab work this weekend! And then he will take a pretest on Monday a.m. and the Big Test after that. I tried to support him and give him words of encouragement but then he told me to quit repeating myself. He's stressed and of course, WOW it just hit me. The reason for the repeating is because I am around kids all the time! I so will have to work on my communication/conversation skills with adults. Watch out everyone!!! I did get some water in today. Yeah for me, not enough though. I have to fill up water jugs in town tomorrow. That's about it for now. Gotta get the girls to bed. Penny
  • Greetings!

Seemed I sprained my MCL in my left knee. Bicycling didn't help it, so it'll probably take 3 weeks to heal instead of 2. I have a knee brace. it was embarrassing that the largest size took a lot of effort to get around my fat legs *Sigh*

GGG, I heard that about fish oil too. I had a friend do a study at George Wash Univ and take fish oil. His triglycerides dropped 20 points after 3 months! Well, I tried it too and my numbers were EXACTLY the same after 3 months.. guess it depends on the person. It was interesting to try.

    Hugs and luv to all!

    Ratkity
  • VAL: OMG!!!! Girl!! Welcome back!!! I knew it was you when I scrolled down the page and seen that famous horse avitar!! You have been missed!!

Debbie54: I am seriouly thinking about doing ETSY..instead of EBAY..will keep you posted.

As for me nothing new...went to the gym last night..the treadmill kicked my butt lol BUT I am glad I went.
  • Penny, it was really good. I found the recipe on the South Beach diet. I had forgot all about it until I was going thru recipes.
I'll be saying prayers for quite a few people tonight, you and hubby included.

Ratkity, take care and keep offa the leg!

Cyn, I think you would really like it on Etsy. They're very helpful there and really want you succeed.

We just found out that my MIL in Kentucky got hit with 65 mph winds on Sunday morning and just got her electricity back today. The shingles blew off of half her garage and the awning came off of the house. She's fine, thank God. My FIL just passed last December so she's really going thru a rough patch with all that's been going on with her. (falling several times and now has to go in for surgery) She had to cook on the barbie til the electric came back on and keep dumping ice in the freezer so she wouldn't lose all her food.
So for those of you still feeling the affects of Ike, I'll be saying a special prayer for you all.
    take care,
    Debbie
  • 3 workouts in 24 hours makes for a 32 hours makes me a tired girl. I owe a bunch of you personals...but I must sleep. Went out to dinner with friends tonite...I love it when the restaurant owners bend over backwards to accommodate a girl. Had the most delicious ginger-lemon-honey tea made especially for me!
  • Hello my Peeps,

Despite the knee being painful and my sister having surgery, I was mentally feeling fairly good until I got an email this morning from my new boss. So the stress I was feeling before sister's surgery was coming from her. Again, she sent an email that was annoying and controlling. I guess it's time to call employee assistance again. The other boss was just getting trained right! *sigh*

Hugs to all the people who were affected by Ike and power outages.

    Luv,
    Rat
  • NuevaVida-Yeah on the exercise, just get plenty of rest and drink your water! Yeah on tea it sounds good.

Debbie- I think I am going to go back to trying some new menus!

Cyn-The treadmill always kicks my butt, but I need to do it TODAY!

Rat-sorry to hear of the knee. Take care of it.

Annie-how did the interview go yesterday?

NoLifeWithoutHorses-just post when you can, it's always good to hear from ya!

Carol-I got the water in my hand! Are you working today or relaxing?

Well, it has been a busy morning and I have to run to town so I better get moving! I will exercise today! I WILL, WILL, WILL! Gotta get moving and drink my water before I get yelled at-AGAIN. (It is a good yelling at, because I need it!! Thanks) Penny
