I've been MIA, feeling like a fake and being sorry for myself, TOM is 15 days LATE, hormones gone crazy, hubby is creeping around AND buying me chocolate laff (dark choc & I only have three squares, the boys 'help' me by eating the rest)
I KNOW I have to get myself sorted out, can anyone reccommend a good site for CALORIFIC VALUES to basic foods? I think a change of plan, staying on 18,00cals & including lots of veg & fruit will be a nice change. I'm having problems with my hip again, the nerve pain is so bad I can hardly walk so exercise is out for the mo.
Annie, so glad you got the jobxxxx Does your post-surgery meetings include any counselling? It might be worthwhile checking what options are available, we can see how fab you are looking these days but if your 'head' is trapped somewhere bad you won't be feeling as great as you look. (hope that makes sense, lol, but you get the sentiments I hope ?xxxx)
I have to go now & job hunt, DMPLS how dis the fostering meeting go?
My oldest son is still looking into joining the army or navy, hope he can get himself sorted out as he's 21 and never held a job down for more than 3 months. It will be scary if he is accepted but hopefully it will make him grow up and learn discipline, something he's never accepted very well before.
xxxxhugs to you all, soon I'm sure I'll feel up to 'proper' personals.
xxxxxxsharon
I'm excited about trying a couple of new recipes I recently ran across - seems I get trapped with the same things because I love them. Tonight is pork and sweet corn from the local paper filled with fresh local veggies. Sounds wonderful. I'm also going to try the eggplant lasagna posted here at 3FC. I'll let you know how they are. Both sounds incredibly easy which is perfect for me in the summer.
I had a little blooper last night - we went to eat at a place I always make great choices at. Didn't work out that way last night. Back OP today and drinking lots of water to flush it out. It's not really if I add back a few ounces of weight that bothers me - its the thought that it was so easy to do and the fear of falling back to my old ways that is overwhelmingly frightening to me. I hope that makes sense.
Photo shoot went well. She was a little doll and other than the fact that she was stubborn as mud, easy to work with We got some great shots and had fun. What more could I ask for!
Kinda cranky with the scales. I am not seeing ANY movement at all which is frustrating me. I know I had a good week last week not that I would ever have another 10lb week again but 1 lb movement would be acceptable! *L*
Thnk I will spend my day doing yard work. We are having a load of soil delivered on Monday and they have to dump it in the driveway because you cant get to the backyard. We have to take it by wheelbarrow one at a time to level off the yard. Wont that be fun!
Working on my water today and making it a relatively lower calorie day than the rest of the week. Tonight is jewellry and tomorrow is the Marketplace day. If I think of it, I will take and post some pics there
I couldn't sleep after my puppies woke me up at 5 a.m. so I have time to post this am.
Bernice: Sorry that your DS is not spending the time with you that you would like. Hugs.
Penny: Hi
Brenda: Congrats to your sister on her house.
RAt: Sorry that you are struggling with the CPAP. I soooo remember those times. Hugs.
Catherine: I hear ya and Thanks. I am so pleased and proud of you for being able to go to a campus to school Hugs, hugs and hugs.
Julee: Congrats on the -.2
Debi: I pack my DH lunch and pack him Salsa quite often with fresh carotts, brocoli and cauliflower for dipping. He loves it.
Carol: I got the job at the Goodwill Industries monitoring people with disabilities as they work. "Job Coach". Not sure how long I will have it due to conflict of interest with Voc Rehab. I will be working with them soon myself hopefully for some schooling and can't have a counselor that is a counsleor for my clients at work. So, I am looking into doing some typing from home or something else part time. The pay at this job is awful but I was desperate for some income so I took it. It will be okay until I find something else part time that pays better. The Budwieser clydsdales are here at our fair this weekend too. lol. They are so beautiful. I love them.
So, I have my first client today which stinks because I have had zero training. I had orientation for 4 hours on Wed. and Yesterday more orientation and she had me read some of the files of the cases I will be working with. No training and I have never done this before. I am monitoring/coaching someone with severe mental ******ation today while he cleans glass at Safeway. The only thing she told me about him is that he doesn't like you to help him or watch him too much. What is too much? lol. She told me that he gets sexually excited if he sees violence. UGH! Lord help me.
On the weight loss front, today is my official weigh in day and I am down to 242! Only 3 more and I am in the 230's.
My Lindsey got here yesterday and is such a pleasure and doll to have around. Just what I need right now. We are planning on going to the amusement park on Sunday. My DH is so excited to have another dare devil to go on the scary rides with. lol.
I hope you all have a wonderful op day. Drink your water and move your bodies.
Bernice...there are one or two schools here that do the same thing but our kids have a different problem...some of them have gotten grief before when they have taken off days for the Jewish holidays...which are not only excused absences but are Constitutionally protected absences. Yet every year I hear about parents and students going toe to toe with administrators over whether or not the child can still qualify for the attendance incentives because of it. This year is a very difficult year because all of the major days of the holidays are on weekdays.
Annie: My brother had a job coach for a short time after high school, but she (unlike you) faked her hours and had ridiculous fees and in the end it was a waste. My brother also is not in the severe/profound range so it was a littel different. Good luck with your new job! I spent a lot of time in college when I was a special ed. major studying what they call "transition" programs, which are the programs for people with disabilities that help them transition from a purely academic setting into a real life setting. The professor for whom I was a research assistant had an entire insitute she ran and had a reference library and papers and ran tranings all across the state.
I have a doctor's appointment today and I am a little antsy...as I always am. I really need to calm down so they can get an accurate BP reading and not have to do it twice. I just want to get enough time with her to talk about the things I want to discuss...going off the pill, vitamins, genetic testing for DH and I, and stuff like that. I am sure she is going to want me to go down for blood work (waaah) but at least they let me use the weight in my WW tracker and don't make me get on the scale.
Just trying to stay OP, stay positive, and keep getting a little bit more done everyday. I'm having trouble maintaining my concentration. I think that is one of the most frustrating things about my head injury is that it greatly reduced my attention span, not that I had a long one in the first place.
Do any of you wear Old Navy Jeans? I ordered some online for just $9.99 each. I got two, and have been eagerly awaiting the arrival. They came today, and I couldn't wait to put them on. I bought size 30. Most of clothing right now is size 30, with exception to a few pair of stretchy jeans which are size 28. Old Navy didn't have anything but size 30 on clearance, and I figured they would fit (hopefully not too small). Well, they aren't too small. They are very much too big. I could easily wear a 28, perhaps a little smaller than that in these jeans. But I LOVE the cut. They seem flattering on my legs, but they are pretty bulky, especially around the waist. Does anyone else buy Old Navy jeans? Feel free to burst my bubble and tell me they run humongous. I am waiting for DH to come home and tell me if they look hideous and I should return them, or just put on a belt.
Today has been a good day so far. I have almost got my water in. YEAH. I haven't really ate much.
I have to confess last night I had a dark chocolate snickers! It was good, very sweet, but good. There I feel better.
Getting ready to eat when hubby gets home. I will try and check in later. No exercise today. Penny
f you're overweight in Alabama, you better start getting in shape or the government is going to start charging you fees!
That's the case for their over 37,500 state employees. The state government is giving all of their employees one year to start getting fit.
If not, they're going to be charged $25 a month, basically to pay for insurance which is otherwise free.
It's similar to the legislation they already have where they charge employees that smoke a fee of $24 a month. Though that resulted in some success in getting people to quit smoking.
But it's going to suck if Alabama thinks you're too fat and smoke too much. Double the fees!
This will be the first state ever to charge overweight state workers who don't try and slim down.
Why can't Alabama be proactive like other states and just reward those employees that "adopt healthy behaviors"?
Alabama is the currently the second most obese state in the country. And according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 30.3% are now obese. But is this the right way to go about things?
Just this week, the State Employees' Insurance Board approved a plan to charge state workers if they don't have free health screenings starting in January 2010.
And if those screenings show that there are any serious problems with obesity, cholesterol, blood pressure and the sort, employees will have one year to see a free doctor and enroll in a wellness program.
If not they can take their own measures to improve their health. But if they don't show any progress in a follow-up screening, they'll have to start paying the fee starting the following year.
Anyone found with a body mass index of 35% or hight, or who is not making progress, will be considered obese and be required to pay up. A BMI of 30% is what's considered "the threshold for obesity."
Robert Wagstaff, a state employee that serves on the insurance board, says" We are trying to get individuals to become more aware of their health."
Many employees are not too thrilled with the decision.
Duh!
College professor and founder of a body acceptance workshop, E-K. Daufin, says "I'm big and beautiful and doing my best to keep my stress levels down so I can stay healthy. That's big, not lazy, not a glutton and certainly not deserving of the pompous, poisonous disrespect served up daily to those of us with more bounce to the ounce."
???? where is everyone today??
I had a good loss this morning of -1.6 so im at 240.8..so close to being under 240. Watch out 30s here I come!!! :O)
I hope because no one has been here today it means that everyone is out having a wonderful day and eating healthy..drinking lots of water ...and getting in tons of exercise.
As for me..i stepped on a toy tractor and twisted my knee..its really sore and i wont be doing much the rest of the day. I have ice on it now. Hopefully nothing serious just sore.
Daugther went back to college today and its always sad when she leaves...youngest wanted me to go shopping with her but my knee isnt up to walking in the mall.
Guess I will just relax tonight..
hope everyone is having a great day
dgramie-Sorry your twisted your knee. It sounds painful. Take care of yourself.
I have my water almost in today but no real exercise. Hubby and I did some shopping for groceries and laptop. So a little walking in. Other than that a normal day. Got up and went to work early and the car engine light came on. I was only a mile from home so I turned around and came back and took the sons car. I don't know what is wrong.
Penny, the check engine light is usually a problem with the exhaust system like the oxygen sensor. The car is very drivable.
My mom is visiting and we have stayed up late 3 nights in a row and gotten up early to bicycle ride!! I'm exhausted!!! Mind you, she's 75 and has more energy than a person ought to (and I'm proud that she's my Ma).
penny_ check your gas cap. We have found that to be the problem alot of the time. I was told its safe to drive as long as its not flashing ..be sure to get it checked out though.
My knee is better today..still a little sore but not as bad. It use to bother me alot when lifting weights but i still havent touched the weights so it cant be from that . lol
Going to do a little housework and then go to church. I may come home and clean my closet again. I have been doing alot of shopping for winter at a local goodwill type store and have a huge stack that needs to be put away. Im offically in an XL top for the most part now. Im hoping to get down to mediums but would be ok with just larges someday.LOL I think i spent about $10 yesterday and got tons of sweaters and sweatshirts and a few really dressy tops..all tops are 25 cents.
Gotta get my water in today i came in a bit short yesterday. I do find it harder to get it all in during the weekend for some reason.
hugs to all
Good Morning!
Dgramie & Rat - Yes, we took the van when hubby and I went shopping yesterday and it did fine. He didn't sound too worried about it, but talked to mechanic last night too. I think he is going to check it out this week.
Carol-Tell Ed Happy Birthday!!!
WI today was up, but I thought it might be as I was up all night drinking water and popcorn! I am so going to have to stop the popcorn. Even though I put spices on it and not the salt, I know it is still bad. That was it for a while. I need to keep going down on the scale. But not bummed, today will be good!
I am not sure what the plan is for the day, but usually once the girls and hubby are awake, it doesn't take long to get a day filled up! Check in later, Penny
