Hi ladies. I'm still trying to catch up on my reading, since this weekend was a bust. I worked 7a-7p on Saturday and yesterday I ended up having to go to the emergency room. I feel a lot better today, so I am slowly catching up on everything/everyone.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and I will try to get back here tomorrow to post something more indepth.

Brenda

Thanks for the reminder of the WLS show premiering tonight. I've seen the clips for it for a few weeks now. I've been anxiously awaiting for it to start. I had considered WLS because of the amount of weight I need to lose, but I really don't want to do something so drastic if I don't have to. My sister doesn't think that I'd survive the surgery either. The wait time is years long too. I am however giving myself this last time to get the weight off. If I screw up this time, that's it. It'll be NO MORE DIETING FOR ME!!! I'll throw in the towel. I'm tired of dieting and only ending up gaining the weight back and then some more on top for good measure.

BTW, I live in a condominium. It's really old. The water heater broke 4 days ago. That's 4 days without hot water. I talked with the property management company today and he said, worse case scenerio is that it could take up to 2 weeks, 2 llllooooonnnnggg weeks without hot water. Apparently they need a specific part and it's out of stock until then and it has to be gotten from the US. Property Management and the board of directors are scrambling trying to find something closer (at least in the same country ). I'm NOT a happy camper right now. I want to take a shower and wash my hair. This is NOT pretty.

Default We Need Your Exercise!!!

Hello everyone!

It's nearly June and I went ahead and got the June exercise thread set up. For those of you who don't know, we have a FANTABULOUS exercise thread here at 300+. The way it works is that you set a goal of how many minutes of exercise you want to do a month -- a few or a lot, whatever you are up for.

Then we track our own exercise, but what I really like is that we track it as a group, too!

We have a goal of 200,000 minutes for the year. And we really need everyone to help.

Ammi mentioned she got some exercise in today. Good thing, cause we need all the minutes we can get! We're falling a bit behind in our goals!

So, EVERYONE is welcome, at whatever level you like! You may find it easier to join us in the new month, but please consider it if you can!!

Catlover-when I had the same problem with a hot water tank that a landlord couldn’t get to until after the holidays, I went and took a shower at the hospital. They are rarely used in the afternoon, and I just went up to one of the wards, and went to the end of the hall, went in, locked the door, and took my time. No one noticed or cared. Of course I was in a wheelchair, so I blended in. I’ve also paid a day entry to the city pool or YMCA just to use the showers. And don’t worry about not being able to keep up. It took me months to be able to.

Sandy-When I was 10 one of my older brothers was going through a nasty divorce. The judge was so pissed at both of them, that he wasn’t going to give custody to either one. My mom was in court that day because my brother couldn’t drive. He’d been in a car with a drunk, and broke his neck. He was in one of those halo things, and lucky he wasn’t paralyzed. The judge was going to send my 6 and 18 month old nephews to foster care until my mom spoke up to take them. Some people are just not meant to be parents, and my brother was one of them until he turned about 35, and did a much better job raising his step kids. You are so lucky to have a good relationship with your sil and his parents. Just hang in there. I know it is easy for us to say, but know that we are thinking about you, and praying for you.

Toofat-swimming keeps the knees from creaking.

Donna-I have found my life so much easier, and dieting also easier after I separated myself from the toxic people in my life. My mom is the same, but she can’t hurt me anymore. My ex-roommate actually stopped being negative and toxic after I left. Well, she threw her bit for a while afterwards, but has settled down now. I guess we were toxic for each other in a way, or enabled each other.

Musictchr-Yes we are a group of characters all right. I figure that to get above 300 lbs, you might have some screws loose, but you’re probably not boring.

Brenda-I worry and wonder about the skin surgery all the time. I’ve seen some that have it, and it just looks worse than the WLS looks, and that looks bad enough. I don’t even know how they would handle that kind of thing here in Canada. Wouldn’t they consider it cosmetic?

Ammi-His family is like marrying into the Manson’s and I’m not talking about Marylyn either. Things are okay. I will be so glad when all of this mess is over. On the bright side, I have a legal excuse to avoid his family’s gatherings. Sorry, we can’t come, we signed a contract to stay away from HER. I’m not really turning to food for comfort, I just don’t have the energy to pay as close attention to things as I should. I’m sorry you are having to give up the gym. I guess you were meant for something else. The important thing right now is to take care of Daren. I had a followup with my cardiologist today, and I’m still doing okay, and I’m sure he will be fine also. The biggest hurdle is to just know that you need to look at something. It is the silent heart problems that kill.

Nancy-the part I don’t understand in what my sil did is that she makes $50-100,000 a month. She is one of the most successful realtors in Edmonton, and is married to a banker. Why did she need to steal from her disabled brother? I dad used to say that there is a special place in **** for people like that. I was always willing to believe that she truly thought she was doing what was in his best interests until she sent this thing insisting that he have no contact with her ever again. He’s only called her once in the last year, and that was to try to make up. He has sent birthday and Christmas stuff. That is the extent of his “harassment.” I’d love to go against her in court trying to get a restraining order against him. The judge would slap her with abuse of process. He doesn’t drive, and a year and a half ago he had his best friend drive him the 20 minutes to her house to take his nephews out to a movie. His friend commented that the boys were spoiled (and boy are they), and she got so mad that she said his friend was a criminal, and not allowed around her or her boys again. This was his best man to be, and we were originally going to have the wedding at her house. She told him that none of his friends would be allowed in her house, so we finally just moved the wedding somewhere else. That should have been forewarning. She isn’t afraid of my husband, she’s ashamed of him for being disabled. How sick is that?

You’re right, tomorrow is another day. Is your ex purposely sabotaging you?

Soulbliss-My former roommate’s oldest son went through the same thing. When she found out she was pregnant, the dad wanted to marry her. She said no, and he proceeded to marry someone else who wouldn’t let him see his son. That went on for 7 years. After they divorced, he wanted to come back in to his son’s life. We debated it for awhile, and basically decided that if she didn’t allow it, her son wouldn’t forgive her later on. It was like having another kid around most of the time, but it was better for him than it was not better if you know what I mean. She said that Judge Judy used to say you have to love your kid more than you hate your ex. I just hope your daughter doesn’t get hurt again. At least in our case, he hadn’t know his father before, and didn’t remember the rejection. Your ex has got a big wall to climb over with his daughter.

XENA-congrats on your test score. I know about sweating that kind of thing out. I remember when I took the LSAT and got a score of 42. I didn’t know what the heck that meant. I went to my advisor and asked him if I could get in with that. He said it wasn’t a matter of whether I could get in or not, but simply where did I want to go. That is a big relief off your shoulders I know. Thanks for raising money for breast cancer. My mother, aunt, and both great aunts survived breast cancer, so chances are I will face it too at some point. I’m just grateful that they all got the slow growing, after the age of 70, survivable kind, not the get it young, fast growing kind. A positive is that my doctors have always made sure I get mammograms whenever I want one.

Well Ladies, I have a NSV to report. My trip to the cardiologist today was actually enjoyable. He said he was pleased to meet me, because he had never met anyone who had lost so much weight without the surgery. When I had my angina attack in 2001, I was too large for any of the tests to figure out what besides high blood pressure might be wrong with me. I am now small enough for the treadmill test. After over 5 years of waiting to know how much real damage my weight might have done to my heart, I will finally get to find out. Now I just have to wait a couple more months for my turn in line.

Peggy: You can absolutely see a difference in your photos. You look wonderful!

Brenda: Oh, my goodness! you really look amazing! Wowza.

Cris: How was the cookoout? Hope you had a great time.

Donna: I hope your week speeds by with all the Over time work!

Catherine: Huge hugs to you. Please don't blame yourself about your hubbies family problems. They would have happened eventually. I mean look at what his sister already did to him on the condo. I bet some day his nephews may just come calling when they are old enough. I think you are so wonderful for not telling on her about the real estate illegals she pulled. It is definately his families loss to not have the two of you in their lives. Hopefully his dad will continue to love and support you guys. Sounds like his sister is a bit "off " like his mom. Hugs to you both. How much longer until you get to go and swim? I am excited for you.

Catlover: I am holding a wolf cub in my avatar photo. Two weeks ago we got to hold and snuggle them at a store here called "Wolf People". Don't stress it about doing personals sweetie. Just post when /if you want. hugs.

Leslie: Woohooo! Congrats on loosing another 6.8. You are doing so amazing!

Ammi: So sorry that you have to let your gym membership go. Just remember though that you know how to do this weight loss thing. You have lost most all of your weight "at home" not at a gym so, that gym has nothing on you my friend. I love your new Avatar photo. I love your smiling face.

Patti: Great job getting the new determination on weight loss. Glad to have you back.

Heather. Glad you made it to the gym. I will be over to set a new goal for June. I don't think I will reach my goal for may by a few hundred minutes because I injured my knee and took a few days off to let it heal. I hope to be adding walking every day once and for all starting.... well, today I started slowly walking.

Val: So, so happy that the weeding from **** is over now. You did so great. I am proud of all that you did and they way you handled the entire thing. Congrats on Bill getting another trucking job. I know you can get back on track Val and really stay op. You are a cowgirl and cowgirls are tough!

Nancy: I just wanted to say hugs to you first of all and also check at physical Therapist places that have pools. I go there and swim myself. I enjoy the atmosphere much more than a gym right now and the older people that swim there are so sweet and love to tell you how wonderful you are doing. It's a great ego boost. lol.

Shirl: Welcome. I am so happy to have you here. I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Xena: Huge Congrats on testing in the 91st percentile! You are awesome and I know you will do well no matter what is going on in your life. I would make a reservation maybe with connecting rooms or something and let them know you just wanted to have more space and more opportunity for bathroom time. Just my opinion. lol. Congrats on earning so much for the race for the cure also. You really are doing well.

Michelou: So sorry that you are up a few pounds. You will do better next time I'm sure. Hugs.

Sandy: Huge hugs to you about your DD. Hopefully some day she will grow up and see what she is missing in being a better mommy and daughter. Hang in there and I am proud of you for not running to food.

Brandnewme: I am glad that you are feeling better and so sorry that you had to go to emergency. Working sooo many hours in a row may be contributing to keeping you not feeling well. I hope you feel better all the way pretty soon. Hugs.

Well, DH and I found a new home church yesterday. We loved it and hope to continue to go there. WE have been searching for a new church and I found this one a month or so ago but have been to chicken and panicky to attend. It was lovely. After church we took a "Sunday Drive" and finally after searching and searching for 2 years we saw a Moose! We were so excited and felt so blessed by the Lord. I got some pics of it but they are not that great plus I don't know how to post them if it isn't on my avatar.lol. It just made our day so extra special. I am still op and not "tasting" things. I don't have a weigh in today because of the Memorial day holiday. I may step on the scale at the Dr. office when I go there tomorrow or Wednesday to get my products. Hope you are all happy, safe and op.

Blessings to you all,
Annie

Catherine:
I have been told that some is and some isnt considered cosmetic. I know that apron around the middle can be considered because of the rash that most of us deal with. Other than that, I am not sure. We are planning on doing whatever we can. I need arms and legs as well I would imagine. They havent really firmed up much over the past 2 years. All the Dr. told me was to talk to him when I reached my goal and we will see the plastic surgen then

Good evening ladies!

Ammi - I use Love Spell also. I haven't worn anything else for several years because I get soooooo many compliments on it!

Lesley - Woohoo!!! Congrats on your great loss this week! Even after the few tiny treats at your cookout!

Catlover - The cookout went pretty well and I stayed mostly op except for the Heineken! Let me tell you...heads would ROLL if I didn't have hot water for ONE day, nevermind two weeks!!!

Soulbliss - Hope today went well for you and your daughter. Dealing with exes and new wives/families are hard enough without all the other stuff - like a 7 year absence. I hope you both did ok.

Xena - Congrats! I'm with everyone else on the room thing - I think they may appreciate your honesty if you just say you would be more comfortable in a seperate room. Perhaps you could get adjoining and open the door between the two....??? Then you'd have the space without feeling too cramped.

Sandy - Here's some happy news! Sox vs. Indians tonight and Trot Nixon got a great ovation when he took the field and again when he got up to bat. It was really nice and Schilling stepped off the mound to let Trot have his moment. I don't even know what to say about your situation with your daughter except that I will keep you all in my thoughts.

Welcome to the new folks! And a big hello to everyone else! Hope you all had great op days!

Not much to report here....a quiet day just doing stuff around the house. Everyone is back to routine tomorrow. That'll be good for me - a couple of days op will be good before Friday WI.

I am BACK from the concert! We got home yesterday, but we were so tired, we just watched a movie, and went to bed. There's no way I can catch up with personals, but I'm going to try and catch up on my reading later. The concert was BEYOND amazing! I had such a good time. Definately the best one I've been to yet!! The concert I'm going to in June is going to have a hard time living up to this one! Hehehe...

I'm going to go watch a movie and lay down. Went to a cookout at my Mom's house for Memorial Day today, and I got burnt up! Ouch!

Hope you're all having a great weekend!!

Hi ladies
well, there is no way i can catch up with personals, but i did want to drop by and say hi Hope everyone is having a good day.
Welcome to all the new posters
congratulations to all the losers, and to Xena for doing so well on your test.
Its been a busy week for me. Unfortunatly, my last weigh in (last week) i stayed the same, but alas, there is a reason, the dreaded TOM. i am hoping for a loss this week. My NSV for the week was going into Gap, buying a dress off the rack that wasnt their biggest size
I love everyones pictures and it is motivating me to post mine soon, i just hate getting my picture made, lol
i hope everyone has a great night, and i promise to be more involved this week

Just a quick pop in to ask Catherine a question. Did you used to do deep water aerobics? I just learned from a friend of mine who works for the city at the library that our local rec center has a deep water pool and offers deep water aerobics classes. I have done water aerobics before, but never deep water. Can you tell me about it? I am kind of excited to find this out. I can't get with the groove on exercise and now I am having problems with my right foot (sharp pain....I hope not a stress fracture). Anyway, I thought I might give this a try but wanted to get your input on it.

Thanks!

Question

What does NSV and SV mean? There were others earlier that I couldn't figure out, but I can't remember which ones they were. I know most of them, but you girls have some on me that I've never seen before.

NSV is a non scale victory (something you couldnt do before etc that you can since you have started to lose weight) and a scale victory is SV
