Jilly, I do the exact same thing! I never knew anyone else who felt like eating made a sore throat feel better! I even want to eat with strep throat and I always want to eat when I'm feeling ill! I hope you feel better soon!

Good Morning All,

Here I am after a good night’s sleep ready to catch up. I have exercised, done a bit of housework, had my breakfast and now am ready for a nice guilt free couple of hours on the Net.

Colleen - lovely to see your post, congrats on the 5 lbs lost that’s great news. I am sorry to hear that you had a virus on your PC, do you know that it was actually sent to you maliciously? It’s just that some of these rotten things get into friends email address books and send themselves to everybody. I am glad you got the virus wiped though and that you are back in cyber land now

Patti - How is the leg today? I hope it’s not giving you too much grief.

Patti (Rileydog14) - I only just realised your name is Patti as well, I think I will have to call you Patti 2 or Patti (14) so you know I am talking to you

Sandy - I just realised that you are at the weight now that I started my weight loss journey. It’s all downhill from now on my friend, as in it gets easier

Brenda - yes I would definitely call that an NSV only eating healthy stuff and not pigging out on naughty things. Hubby bought me a much smaller asst of Aussie chocolate for Christmas and I am allowing myself one bar on my WI day as a treat. I had my one bar yesterday and I felt so guilty. It’s so weird how we are hard on ourselves for being ‘naughty’ when in comparison to how we used to be we are being angelic I think we have to remember that so that we don’t feel so bad on days when we do go over what we should eat.

Jill - sorry to hear that you are feeling sick, though at least as you said you now know why you have wanted to eat more. I hear you about eating soothing your throat, it sucks but it’s a fact. You are doing good planning on getting some sugar free jell-o and other low cal soothing things to eat. With a bit of luck you won’t end up having a gain during your illness. I hope you get better in time for the birth of your sister’s baby too, it will be horrible for you having to wait to be able to visit and give him/her a cuddle.

Heather - good on you for not having an all night binge after allowing yourself the treat of Macaroni Cheese. I have never actually looked for that Kraft stuff over here, but I used to LOVE it when I was in Australia. Yummy

Lilion - here’s another one that thinks eating soothes sore throats, so you definitely aren’t the only one

Erika Leigh - when you start school, I am sure everything will go well.

Oh that’s a worry about not having Insurance for the surgery for Amanda. I don’t know much about the American health system, you said you hope to be able to get help with the cost, do you mean from some other avenue of the health system there, or from family? Where ever it comes from I hope you do get it. We may have long waiting lists over here for surgery etc, but at least when we or loved ones are ill the last thing we have to worry about is the cost of getting better. I wish it was the same there

It’s time for me to go write some emails now. I’ll be back later though,

Hugs,

Ammi

hehe, yeah, I always hear others talk about how they hardly eat anything at all when they are sick, but not me! BRING IT ON! I even had some ice cream (full-fat and all) last night after I posted here, and now this morning, my throat hurts even more I just took some Zicam and am about to go make my breakfast smoothie (that should feel good on the throat!) to take a multi-vitamin and a Tylenol. In preparation for the rest of the week (feeling this cold coming on...), I made 12 little cups of sugar-free jell-o last night. At 10 calories each, I won't feel so guilty overeating on those

Oh, and on a higher note, my stomach muscles are KILLING me! Why is that a higher note? I did 75 crunches on my balance ball yesterday morning (3 sets of 25)--when I do crunches on the floor, I hurt my neck and my back and never feel like I get an ab workout at all, but now that I have sore abs today, I know the crunches on the ball worked (not to mention they didn't hurt my back one bit!)

Heather--man, it is a good thing I don't have any mac n cheese in my kitchen...that would really feel nice on the sore throat, and I haven't had it probably at least a year. I could never eat just 1 serving--always the whole box for me, thanks!

Ammi--I do hope I won't gain while sick--I'm even down 1/2 a pound this morning from yesterday morning despite having splurged out at dinner and then on ice cream (though I think I was retaining a bit of water from all the eating out I did over the weekend, so I don't expect that trend to continue after today).

Jill - sorry to hear your throat is even worse this morning. Do you think you could get some Skinny Cow icecream, that will be soothing yet so much better than the full fat icecream? The jell-o will be good, but nothing is as nice on a sore throat as icecream!

Well done on doing such a great ab work out using the exercise ball. I fear if I ever tried to use one of those I'd end up A over T So I think I will stick to my Gazelle. I hope your abs aren't painful for too long even if they do remind you what a great work out you had,

Hugs,

Ammi

I'm in a bad place today. I've been on a VLCD for several months and had excellent results with it but decided at the beginning of the year that I'd try a change of direction by starting a healthy eating regime.

However, I'm now getting panicky without the security of certain weight loss and no responsiblity that comes with a VLCD. I'm seriously considering returning to it until I reach my goal. So today, my head is in limbo.

I am just waiting for my lunch to settle in my tummy before I go exercise so I thought I would come and say hi again, so

Patti - so pleased to hear your leg is ok enough for you to exercise again. I DARE that FFM not to visit this week after you've been gutsy enough to exercise through your pain

Russiandoll - sorry you aren't feeling the best right now. What is VLCD? Surely whatever it is you could take it but still get into a healthy eating regime ready for the days when you have reached goal and won't be taking it anymore? Sorry if I sound a bit ignorant, but I really have no idea what VLCD is. I hope you'll feel more 'with it' soon

Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

Russiandoll -- I've never been on a VLCD (my diet is kind of the opposite!), but I have and do still struggle with this issue. I can't tell you when to move from the VLCD to a more "healthy eating" regime, but I do believe strongly that whenever you do it you are going to face the same issues.

I'd really recommend you take a look at the maintainer's forum -- people who are maintaining their weight loss. I have learned from being here at 3fc that the weight loss is easy compared to maintaining -- after all, isn't that the goal??? So, no matter what route we take to get there, we all have to face these issues when we lose weight. You might even want to ask your question there and see what people say.

One of my questions to you is: are you getting good support from your doctor and other medical professionals? What do they say???

Being under the weather is the worst feeling in the world. I teach elementary school so I sometimes feel like I am constantly sick. I also herniated a disk in my back this summer moving, and a lot of days by the end of work (bending over little kids desks) my back is killing me.

For me when I am sick or hurting I just want to sit there. If I am just sitting there I get bored. When I get bored I eat. Sometimes it is more healthy sometimes more junk. I have to tell myself FOOD WILL NOT FILL THE VOID!

BTW for those of you with a love of Macaroni and cheese I have a really good recipe that uses pureed winter squash and low fat cheese and I use whole grain pasta...It is pretty tasty!!

Hey everyone! I have some great news to share with you! Today marks a week since I started my lifestyle change with the help of NutriSystem and I decided to wait a week to weigh in.Well,it's been a week,so this morning I weighed in and I am down 10 pounds already! I cannot believe it! I know I have lost because I can feel it in my jeans, hehe and I have been feeling so energized lately, but I didn't think it'd be that much. Now I know 10lbs. in a week isn't really healthy or recommended, but I really couldn't help it. I ate what I was supposed to eat and I worked out,and that's the result. I know it'll slow down--that I won't lose 10lbs. every week because that's how it always is,but this is a good start and it motivates me to keep going.I weighed myself like five times because I just couldn't believe it! I'm so happy! I have to thank the many people on here that inspired me...there's too many to name, but without this site,I don't think I would have as much fun and encouragement doing what I am doing. Thanks 3fC!

Hi guys. Home with a migraine today. Its not that I over did it on sugar or anything. But it is a big one. Having a little caffine right now in hopes it will go away. It was in my right eye all night and most of the morning but now is in my neck so I thought I would get up andheat up the magic bag and see if that helps. Going back to my dark room now. Talk to you all later on...

Good Afternoon All

Another day's exercise complete and I feel wonderful because of it I've just had a nice shower, washed my hair, and am sitting here feeling fresh and relaxed. Bliss.

Heather - ooops, sorry to hear you did end up having a bit of a binge after all. Are you still exercising? I figure if you are still struggling with staying OP with the food, maybe you could just increase the exercise a little to make up for it? I've said it before and I'll say it again, I know you will never give up your quest to get those final lbs off and keep them off! Mari's signature line on here says 'one step forward and two steps back is still a step in the right direction' I love that because it is SO true.

Mari - you will have to post that Macaroni Cheese recipe in the recipe section so we can all have a look see at it. It sure sounds unusual, but I love all pasta dishes so I reckon I could give it a go

Ouchies on the herniated disc isn't there anything that can be done for it? It must be so tough being a teacher and having to do so much bending, it's not like it's easy to bend at the knees instead of the waist when we are our size is it? I suffer with my back quite often and as much as I would love to be able to bend at the knees instead of my waist I just can't do it. I might get down but I definitely won't get back up again

Iwannaloseit - that's fantastic that you lost 10 lbs in one week. What a brilliant start to your diet, it definitely helps to motivate you to keep going doesn't it!

Brenda - so sorry to hear you have a migraine. I hope going back into the dark room with that magic bag on your neck will help ease it. Migraines suck, and isn't that the understatement of the year!!

Nancy - how are you doing, I hope you are feeling a bit brighter today.

Xena - where are you? I hope you are at least reading posts even if you don't have time to post yourself. How's the work out regime going with the Gazelle, are you still enjoying it?

Okie dokie time to go post on the exercise thread, so bye again

Hugs,

Ammi
