Default Week of~~May 15~~

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Yesterday was georgous here. We went garage selling in the AM. I got Alex an awesome Little Tykes Truck (it's HUGE) and toybox for $10. They both look brand new. They were just a little dusty. The truck is a car carrier and it had two cars with it. He's seriously in love with this truck . I never find good stuff like that so I was totally stoked!

Does anyone here have asthma? I had another attack last night and was able to use the inhaler for the first time. It was awesome. Within seconds I could breathe almost normally. It's cloudy and muggy here today so I'm probably staying in. I don't want to have an attack when I am home alone with Alex. They still freak me out.

Lisa: Have a good week off. Do something fun!

to everyone!

Hi All,

Took Peter for a haircut this AM...he doesn't look like a wild man anymore! He was soo good too...amazing what a truck seat and a lollypop can do!

Karen, awesome find! We stopped at a garage sale down by my aunt yesterday and got a Step 2 easel that also has a desk. It ends up being a corner type piece. There's 2 chalkboard surfaces and 2 white board surfaces, and there's clips that you can hang paper on it. The lady said her friend is bringing a bunch more stuff like that over today, too bad I'm not down there.

I've had mild chronic asthma all my life, and the main thing is not to panic. My dad taught me yoga breathing to relax myself when I was about 6 and it's been a godsend when I've been caoght without medication.
Chris - sorry about the "Oz-ism" - a footy team is a football team (Australian Rules football, great game ). My team always struggles so any little win makes me happy. I'm home with a cold today so off to bed again now - isn't it funny, the days you don't have to go to work you can't catch up on anything you want to do b/c you don't feel well . Not to worry. Sleep is good
Have a good day everyone

Evening all...Well the birthday party was a blast. Kayla had soo much fun and we had so many kids running around. It's nice to see her smile. This was her first birthday party with friends. Before it was always aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. We had it at the park. I let them play on the playground, then they played duck-duck-goose and tags, then did the pinata...followed by the gifts, then cake and then home. She had a great day. I'm usually a nervous wreck. It stresses me out to have my dad and mom and my stepmom all at the same event. They aren't so tense with eachother since my stepdad died but it still makes me nervous.

LB-I kind of figured it was football but wasn't totally sure. What we call soccer is football in other countries. Now that I have that "oz-ism" figured out thanks to you. You must love living there. I've only seen pictures but it looks like one beautiful place to live. Wombats are from Australia, aren't they?

RR-Yep, I'm the mommy with the 6 yr old now. Just gotta add my two cents too. I have 2 kids with asthma. My 11 yr old uses an inhaler and takes Singular. My youngest (2 1/2 yrs old) we use the nebulizer with albuterol in it to get her breathing right. It's not quite as effective as it was when we started so I'm going to have to see what else we can do.

K-Awesome deal! I get so pumped up too when I get a good deal at a garage sale. We've gone to a few around here but they haven't been very good. Maybe more towards summertime, they'll be better. Sorry to hear about the asthma with you. I don't know what I'd do if I had it, but it really scares me to see Nicole struggle to breathe. ALmost want to stand over top of her and watch her sleep all night long to make sure she's okay when she has an attack.

Gotta get to bed...work tomorrow. And today was one LLLOOONNNNGGGG day.

Good Morning Everyone!

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here today. I love sunshine!

Thanks for the info on Asthma. Does crying ever trigger an attack? I was going through an emotional spot when the last one started. I'm going to be in a pickle if I can't have a good cry every now and then without triggering an attack!

LB: Breathing techniques (I used to be an occupational therapist) are how I got through the first three attacks. But they lasted so much longer and were harder to get over. The med was AWESOME. I haven't had the lingering wheezing and hacking. Just a little wheeze once in a while. I hope your cold is better today.

RR: How are you doing? How's little one? Feeling better these days, I hope.
Hope shopping was good!

Lauren: Sounds like you found a good deal too! The lady I got the stuff from loved Alex's hair. I think that's why she gave us the stuff so cheap. I only had a $10 on me, so I was hoping! Everyone comments on his blond curls. You'd think they had never seen a curly cotton top before!

Chris: The party sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to get ideas from you for Alex's big boy parties! Yeah, the asthma really sucks. I hated working with breathing patients when I was a therapist. Now, karma is biting me in the tushie! I try to stay calm, but it's not easy. DH freaked a little on me during this one 'cause he couldn't find my inhaler in my purse. I'm thinking more than one inhaler would be a good idea. I'll have to talk to the doctor about it.

OK, everyone have a wonderful Monday!

Hi Karen
totally agree that you need meds AND breathing techniques - you just have a bit more time and your loved ones don't panic as much if you can stay calm!! I have puffers in just about every handbag, both cars and my gym bag. Has your Dr prescribed any daily preventative medication? I take some every day & can cry quite safely - and we women need to vent sometimes! Crying can trigger an attack b/c your breathing gets a bit out of control during a good sob.
Hi Chris - yes Wombats are from Australia. I'd love to visit Montana one day though - I love the scnery from all those old cowboy movies.
How's your break going Lisa? Hope you are doing nothing that you don't feel like!!
I've managed to keep this week's goals for one day so far - doing better than last week
Big hello to everyone else! Take care and keep at it

LB, thanks for asking.

My mom and I finally got the basement put back together after having it torn up for about a month. I am either going to get a perm this week or hair color, I havent decided which. The mall just opened a new wing so I am going to check it out, see all the improvements. Basicly take it easy for a week before jumping back into school.

I have convinced my mom that we do not need ice cream in the house, or anyother kind of goodies, cause I will just eat them. It's okay for finals but not all the time.

Morning all! Just checkin to see how you all are doing. Everyone is sick with a cold virus here...except for Kayla. I'm trying to catch up on everything around here. I got laundry to fold and a whole house to clean. No one wants to pitch in and help. DH says have the kids do this, do that, and pick up their rooms. How can you enforce that, if he doesn't pick up after himself? I'm trying to keep things semi-clean but I'm wearing down trying to follow behind everyone and make sure things go where they need to be. Anybody have any suggestions? I've tried the chore charts, rewards, allowance, threats, etc. DH's relatives are all coming in on the 27th and we are supposed to be doing a BBQ here. I'm not going to be able to get everything done. What is really aggravating is that DH will start something and then not finish it. He has the cover off the fuse box, wires waiting to be hooked up, a shed half finished, a whole house that needs trimwork done from the painting he started, trim that needs to be put back on the walls...I guess I'll have to figure out the power tools and do some little work on my own. And then you have 3 little kids who get toothpaste all over the sink and counter and never bother to wipe it up. That is my biggest pet peeve ever. I hate a messy bathroom. Toothpaste, water all over....YUCK!

Okay...I'm done complaining. I have a bunch of boxes of stuff to take and stuff in my sister's garage that I cleaned out of the house. We're having a BIG garage sale in June. Whatever I don't sell is NOT coming home. IT can go be donated somewhere.

Back to the business of cleaning up and getting this place organized. I need to get some more boxes. I hate clutter. Gotta get rid of it.

Kaylee had her first gymnastics class..She is a little monkey..The uneven bars are her favorite..She would hang and swing and then jump to the mats and just giggle..It was excercise for me with the running, jumping, dancing, wiggling and then doing floor excercises with her on my knees..It was such a great hour together!!! (I think that after 3 mc and no prospect of anymore, I just love her more dearly each hour!!! )

Speaking of wiggling, The Wiggles are comming to visit this summer..I am definatley going..She will have a fit cuz she is sooo attached to those 4!!!
AF is a killer this week...I feel just yuck and no energy to do anything not even the treadmill...Thank goodness it was this week cuz M-I-L is comming for her 3 week visit next week!!!

Chris--I hope the cleaning is complete. My DH is the oppisite.. he is obsessed with cleaning the house and I am the opposite..His 14 y/o will pick up if she wants something, but he gets soo nervous cuz the 2 y/o just pulls down everything..I pick it all up at night when she is asleep cuz it is fruitless to try to do anything while she is awake... He doesnt sleep if there is clothes to wash, dry or put away..It is nice, but he makes me nuts!!!

LP--Take care of "U" this week...U deserve it after all the tests and papers.

Lauren--I hate to lose the posts...I'd rather lose the pounds!!!
Hello all...Rabbit...where are U?????????
have a great evening!! It is time to "hoop te do" with K and the wiggles!!!

RR-As far as housekeeping goes...there is some things I'll let slide but lately the clutter and the "not picking up after ourselves" has really gotten to me. My mom isn't much of a cleaning person, but my stepmom was so I guess I'm middle of the road. It doesn't have to look perfect, just not like a national disaster area. It's just irritating to have so many started and undone projects in the house. We bought this house two years ago and I want it to start looking like a home and not like we just moved in.

Gotta get the little one from kindergarten. Next Friday the kids get out of school. The school year went by so fast....YIKES!

Hello all,

RR, I have been taking it easy. Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to the mall with my mom and we spent 4 hours there. They openned a new wing to it two weeks ago, however we wanted to wait for the crowds to die down.
They have new stores to the area like: pottery barn, williams-sonoma, and many others. I could get in alot of trouble at the mall now.

I am getting a perm tommorrow (well actually later today). So hopefully it turns out.

Other than that, I have been taking it easy this week so far. Talk at ya all later.

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great week. I'm doing well on my diet plan for this week. I am drinking more water. I am not snacking. I am making an effort to get in more veggies. I am also getting back off of caffeine. Ugh. I let the diet cokes creep back in. I was 99.9% off caffeine for about 2 years, just the occasional dc when we went out. Now I'm suffering the caffeine headache. What a dumb thing to do! I also measured out my cereal for breakfast to make sure I was only eating one serving. Wow, 1/2 c of granola only lasts about 3 hours.

OK, gotta see to the little one.
