Was that evil? Tonight's finale had such a weak sauce ending. No way would I have just laid there, "We'll find you." Weak.

MelO - Never seen the show - but thought your matter-of-factness was humorously ornery.

Good run this morning. How come there's only 1min/mile between "easy morning run" and "chest exploding effort"?? Honestly. Gotta love that post-run weigh in though - shoot - 177.6...IF ONLY!! Sadly that is due to dehydration from exertion.

We are done with school for the year. I officially survived my first year of homeschooling. A year ago I had a new baby, took on 2 new daycare kids (ages 2mo and 17mo) and started home schooling the kids. Little did I know that our new baby wouldn't sleep more than an hour or 2 at a shot... Anyway - I survived. If you wanna - I recently blogged about it "I Should Have Slapped Me"

Better get off of here - sounds like it's all falling apart in the playroom. Have a great day, gals!!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the 30-somethings forum but not new to 3FC. I thought I'd just jump into the chat and say hi to everyone. I'm struggling these days with weight loss (it's VERY different after having a baby!) I'm also the Queen of Scale Fluctuations, which is quite frustrating. I try to only weigh myself once a week, but I always hop on more often than that and get mad at myself even though I'm really doing all I can to lose weight. It's so frustrating to have lost 110 pounds and now have to lose a bunch of it all over again! Ugh!

Anyway, I hope to get to know you guys better.

Have you tried weighing yourself every day, but then just considering your "official weight" to be on a certain day? What I mean is, by weighing yourself every day but only "counting" the weight on, say, Friday? This way you can see how much you fluctuate from day to day and it makes that weekly number less soul crushing.

For my own example, I vary +/- a pound AT LEAST every day during the week, so if I see that I'm staying stable around an average number that is slowly decreasing, I stay motivated. If I were to only weigh myself once a week and the new weight happened to fall on a "high" day, I might feel discouraged or feel like I need to change something -- when in actuality I was doing quite well!

So basically my comment is: don't be afraid to weigh yourself once a day (at the same time, of course -- I'm 3 pounds heavier when I go to bed than I am when I wake up 7 hours later).

Rebound, thanks for your response. That's actually what I've always done. When I was losing my 110 pounds a few years ago, my "official" weigh-in day was Tuesday. Now it's Friday. Unfortunately, that means sometimes I show a gain on my official day even if I'm down later in the week. Something that helped me a few years ago was keeping a graph of my weight loss and seeing that it trended downward even with the little jumps up. I'm just frustrated right now!

I haven't found a weekly weigh-in thread here in the 30-somethings forum, and that's something that kept me motivated last time (I did it in the 100 lb. club then, but I don't have 100 pounds to lose this time).

I'm still here, ladies. Having a depressing week- no work at all. Having said that, I've been studying, so I should be good to go for my exams in 2 weeks.

I'm so close to 79.0 that I can feel it, but the scale is being a dork. I've upped my exercise this week from 3 to 6 days. It's a huge leap but 3 days are strength training and 3 days are running days. Just gotta keep at it, write food down, have my water bottle at the ready and keep a positive frame of mind. I'm keeping my My Fitness Pal tab open on my browser so I remember to write down what I'm eating, how much I exercise and how much water I'm drinking.

There's officially 25 weeks to go until I go to the States and I've set my mind on losing 20-24 pounds, which will put me between 68 and 70kg (or 150-154 pounds). I'd like to get down to 148, but it won't happen unless I have quite a few weeks of 2 pound losses. I really should go back and see what I did during the weeks I was losing 1.75 pounds during the first BL challenge.

I'm here, I may not be posting, but I'm lurking.

I'm here - I'm sorry for lack of chatting. I will update more regularly when I'm feeling better.

My primary care doctor and my specialist seem to be at odds with what's wrong with me and how to treat me and I'm about to ditch the specialist I think!! He's holding everything up and I'm sick of it!

I've been in the ER again, I've been in the hospital, I've had more tests.... ugh! I'm tired of living my life as a an anarexic/bulimic without my consent!! I eat and drink hardly anything all day long and what I do eat comes back up undigested 6-7 hours later several days a week... the tests keep showing it's not my gall bladder but the doctors are sure it is that or the bile the ducts or both but for insurnce reasons and hospital reasons they have to check all these other things before they can remove it or do anything to it since the tests came back the way they did. The specialist is giving the doctor a hard time trying to push the test back while he is trying to push them up. Ugh!!

So - I'm missing a lot of work, and when I am at work I'm very busy and there for, lack of up dates. Sorry!!

In other news, my 5 year old graduated from pre-school yesterday! And I, of course, am losing weight. Not a fun way to go though!

LisaMarie - I weigh every day as well. I only record the one on Monday, though. It is a little discouraging, as I see a dramatic low on Tuesday or Wednesday that I just don't pay attention to!

Mollz - missed you! 25 weeks for 20lbs...sounds very attainable!! You know what to do, just gotta do it.

LolaDark - ugh! So sorry you are ill!!

Yesterday I let some things get to me and made some unwise choices for supper. I skipped the salmon and had a bag of microwave popcorn and the last of the Edy's lite ice cream. Then I was still hungry so I ate the leftover pasta from last night. While not terrible, it was still off plan AND I was eating "for spite" rather than for hunger.

This morning I ran 3 extra miles to try to undo the damage. I had a nice easy run and enjoyed my time outdoors alone. I got that sweet, sweet post-workout weigh in number to bolster my spirit. It would be nice to see 177...that's my 50lb mark and my next goal post. Pretty sure it will be at least 2 more weeks.

Just in time for our family vacation!! Sigh...

Mollz-missed you! You can totally lose those 20lbs!

Melo-Yeah that was wimpy ending! I was thinking..."what?! That's it?"
But you can have Morgan, just don't get any ideas about my Dr.Reid! I'll have to get Jillian after if you do.

Good news! I have another job interview on Tuesday afternoon! Sounds like it's a good fit for what I'm looking for. Close to home too! So I'll be researching and prepping for that over the long weekend!

Loving the 30DS so far, but need today off. I'm just so tired. I'm not expecting to see much if any weightloss when I weigh in after the 10 days. the first half was filled with PMS bloating and water retention now TOM shows up. Kill me! But just as I was getting all negative about it, I got my daily newsletter from Jillian's website and it's all about "Slow and Steady wins the race". So I'm staying focused on the everyday habits and eventually the scale will catch up! Gonna stack her dvd's for the next 3 days for some super calorie burning!

Mollz -- Hi! I'm new around here, so I hope to get to know you better. Are you coming to the States for a vacation?

Lola -- I hope the doctors can figure out what's going on with you! And congrats on your 5-year-old's graduation! I have a little boy who's almost 2.

morton -- I quite frequently eat for spite (or just about any other reason) instead of hunger! It's great that you had a nice run to make up for it, though. I miss running and can't wait to get back to the point where I can run long distances again. Oh, and I went ahead and started a weigh-in thread!

I've had quite the evening. I locked myself out of the house with my todder, about to go to Bible Study (we're doing a cool study about eating, actually). I also forgot my cell phone! I checked for the spare key in all the places we have kept it in the past, and didn't find it. It was also raining, with lots of thunder (a huge storm is coming tonight). So I had to go to all my neighbors' houses looking for a phone to use, and we live in the boonies so they all have extraordinarily long driveways. And no one was home around me, so I had to walk FOREVER, carrying my son, in the RAIN, with a storm looming. NOT FUN! Finally found a nice neighbor lady who took me in until my husband got home! Turned out my keys were in my car (sigh). They had fallen under my seat. I'm a dork.

But I lost 3.8 pounds this week, so that's good. And since I didn't get to take a walk today, carrying my child around the neighborhood was good exercise!

Lisa Marie - just wanted to say that I'm a dork, too so you don't feel too lonely. My then 18 month old locked me out of the house when I was 9 months pregnant. We also live in the boonies, so our neighbors didn't have spare keys, and my dog had stolen and misplaced our "hidden" key. Not so hidden apparently. During all this the 18 month old sat on the couch watching Thomas the Tank Engine and waved at me happily while I shrieked "Unlock the door!" We put a new lock on the back door that can be opened with a code on a keypad instead of a key because I'm always locking myself out. Just thought I'd give you a dork survival tip Congratulations on the 3.8 pound loss!

Kuchick, that is a hilarious and "sounds like my life" kind of story! I have also done these things.

Welcome, LisaMarie.....glad to have you here. Also, great to hear from Mollz again! Sorry, Lola, that you are having medical issues. I hope that you get some answers soon......

I have been not doing much, progress-wise. Reading other posts, I think that I need to start weighing in on a daily, or 3 times a week, basis. I weigh in once a week or every two weeks, and am discouraged if the weight hasn't changed or has gone up a pound. I get so upset, and that leads to emotional eating when I'm not hungry, etc etc. I am going to try to weigh in more and see if that motivates me!

Anyway, I am still quite determined to get down under 200, this is so frustrating, I have been here before, lost 100 pounds before, felt like I'd never see this weight again before.......it's so FRUSTRATING!

But I will continue to plug away....I am lucky to be healthy enough to eat well and exercise, that is a gift. I'm taking care of a very unfortunate patient lately that is a quad (quadraplegic) and this pt is so ill, has been in the CCU for months, and would give anything to be able to go for a run or work out on the elliptical, or eat healthy food instead of tube feedings......I get to do all of those healthy things, which is a gift. Sometimes I don't realize how lucky I am, I guess!

Have a great holiday weekend.....

R - thanks for putting it in perspective for me. It truly IS a gift to be able bodied. I understand your frustration. This is also my second stab at the same pounds. I also weigh daily to keep myself on track. Weekly or less, I procrastinate and don't "do" anything until 3 days before my weigh in - don't loose - frustration - more eating for spite - on and on. It's tough.

Jenn - I'll be praying for your job interview. Temping for so long has to be frustrating. I had a job for 6 years that I had started out as a temp. I replaced a girl that was deployed during the beginning of Desert Storm - temped for 9mo, then she came back and I was sweating it...but they decided they needed me anyway.

Lisa - Oh you poor woman!! It just HAD to be raining didn't it?!? Congrats on the BIG loss last week! I plan on participating in your weekly weigh in thread - see you Monday with my numbers.

Kuchick - I think I peed a little laughing at that story...ONLY because it reminded me of a similar incident. I had put my 2yo to bed, my 6yo was in the tub and I ran downstairs (apartment complex) to switch the laundry - locked myself out. My 6yo son was singing so loudly in the tub that he couldn't hear me knocking!! OOH boy - Dorks R Us!!

Happy Saturday, all! I'm with Jen on being tired, yikes! I went to bed at 10 last night and slept til our 3yo just woke me up at 7:15! Our 13mo old is FINALLY sleeping through the night 80% of the time now - I think my old body is just catching up with a year's lost sleep.

I plan on grocery shopping this morning. Anybody else's grocery bill out of control?? Ours has been hitting $175/wk and we still have to get fruit and milk halfway through the week!! Today, my goal is to take a better inventory of the cupboards before I leave and use my calculator to try to keep it around $125.

No formal exercise for me today. Might walk to the park later this afternoon. I also need to get back to planning my meals - 'cuz I have NO idea what's for dinner tonight!!
