Good job keeping on track with your 1st new life day! It's all in the small steps...life will constantly try to derail you. If you can keep moving forward (even in very small steps), you'll be headed in the right direction.

Sending happy thoughts your way.

Totally agree with AFChick. There have been times when I had to dig dirty workout clothes out of the hamper and wear them to the gym. I just put it in my head that not having anything clean wasn't going to keep me from working out. Great job on that mental determination shift!

Cool

when it rains it pours!! just got done spending the weekend in the hospital with my mom. called in sick on monday to stay home with my 6 yr old who has been sick and puking, went back to work today, the hubby took her to the doctor, and holy **** she is in the hospital now. severe pnemonia. 106 temp, about 1/2 of her right lung and 1/4 of her left lung. the poor little thing. and it took 4 attempts to get the IV in, damn nurses. she is a brave one tho, she did not cry at all. just asked them to wait till she was ready before they tried each time. now she is in pain tho from the meds losening all of it up her lungs her right side is hurting and she is a daddy's girls right now. so my youngest and i came home to let the dog out, and get a few things to take there. they say at least 2 days. so i will be off work all week. there goes the rest of this years vacation time. o well kids come first. and we'll meet our deductible the insurace after this stay, so should be good for the rest of year there too. it's just been a rough 6 days so far and trying to start my diet yesturday. i stuck to it and am trying today, had bagle for breakfast and roast beef and cheese sub way sub for lunch, don't know if i will get the exercise in yet these next few days, will try to do something.
till later, keep keeping on! i know that is what i have to try and do. can't change any of it just have to deal with it the best we can.......

I agree with everyone's posts, and they have great ideas. I love Mollz's suggestion for exercise snacks, that is a great way to look at things.

I am an NP with a busy practice, also do ER, and have a 6 year old daughter, 3 year old son, and a husband. We have two dogs, our kids are in lots of activites, and we are active in church. I just know that I have all of these things going on, and I look at exercise like I look at taking a shower or brushing my teeth--nonnegotiable, so I find the time to do it. I get up by 0445 most mornings to get to the gym, run or walk outside, walk the dogs, lift weights, etc. I try to walk in the evening, if possible, although that doesn't always happen. I look at exercise as just something that I need to get to most days.

Fitting in exercise has never been an issue, I love to run and work out. My problem has always been the eating aspect; you can out-eat any exercise that you do. So you have the option of making good choices throughout the day--your eating will impact your weight immensely! I am just realizing this and trying to change this part. It is very hard!! But keep at it, you can do it!

You'll get lots of support here, so keep checking in; it's very helpful. I also love to hear about everyone's progress--it makes me happy for them.

Little choices each day will add up to big changes......

Welcome back momof2. I noticed in your first post about not having support. I do know this feeling out in the real world, but want to remind you that you have 100's of supporters right here on 3FC. **HUGS**

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I can't imagine.

Can I ask where in Wisc you are? I am a Wisconsinite too. ( Feel free to PM if you don't want it out in the open ) It's just always nice to find peolpe close by that share similar goals.

I don't have kids, but I understand this. I've been fat since 2nd grade, and my mother makes it a point to consistently point out she's a whole 30 lbs lighter than I am. Yet, she's the one who now has diabetes and her feet are going numb from it because she's been refusing to eat well her whole life.

There's nothing wrong with being fat, unless it makes you unhappy. I know PLENTY of fat people who are perfectly happy with how they are! It's when it starts effecting your health is when it's scary. (That's why I started, because I honestly don't think many people at 340 in their 30s are gonna live a long time and I honestly worry my little sister would kill herself if I'm not here for her... so here I go.)

And, kids truly say the darnest things. :P I have those slip of the tounge too (to where my family consistantly tries to rein me in like I'm still a hyper 5 year old) but just remember, they're not trying to hurt your feelings.. and honestly, if they knew you could hear them I doubt they would have said anything at all.

Remember, these kids are being force-fed all this nonsense on TV that they have to be skinny and pretty and they'll be rich, famous, and lusted after for becoming the next Miley Cyrus, and they expect their parents to be too, sometimes. They don't realize that all the 'grown ups' on TV are literally starving themselves to stay so small, and in most cases those people are still kids themselves. Plus you've got all these jerk kids with a net connection saying everything awful about any girl over 110 lbs.. not realizing WE ARE ALL MADE DIFFERENTLY and we are ALL beautiful in our own right. Drives me nuts, my little sister is 130 lbs... she's a cosplayer (She dresses up as video game or anime characters and we go to anime cons) and she takes a LOT of pride in her costumes, which are all hand-made (where most girls just buy one off ebay) but her pictures get put on YouTube as a 'best of such-and-such game cosplayers' and then people call her FAT! So just keep that in mind.. your children are being fed this image of nearly impossible perfection, expected to be so skinny their ribs show to be considered 'pretty', and that's where they're getting their ideals from. ...****, I'd be thrilled to be under 300 lbs, let alone 195! Depending on your height too, that actually may be a healthy weight for you.. y'never know.
