  • Morton? WTH happened, hon? How'd you break your head?

Last week, I wouldn't have -minded- breaking my head, mind. Particularly if a guillotine was involved. Having the crud sucks.

OTOH, apparently having the crud has been good for my scale movement. I've adopted bunny2 for my dancing icon, 'cause I'm DOWN TEN!!!!

I find it reinforcing to go Do Things to show how far I've come. In the past, thanks to Costco, this has been to get out both 4-pound units of butter and stack them up. Well, we didn't need butter this week, so I did some math and found that volume wise, 4 blocks of butter are about the same as 1 2.5 lb 'block' of coffee.

I am no longer hauling around 2 blocks of coffee & 2 blocks of butter.

    It makes an impressive stack.

    And now, I shall dance.

  • I am laughing to myself because I have been avoiding this thread because I thought it was discussion about the Biggest Loser show. I don't really watch it, so I didn't think I'd have anything to contribute. Now, I know and will visit regularly!
  • Dear Scale,
Why do you hate me? What have I EVER done to you? Why won't you move? I work and work and log and log and cleanse and cleanse and in return I get NOTHING!!!!!
    Try to be kind,
    Amy

I thought the same thing....I remember back when we started the weigh-in thread people who were taping/watching later the biggest loser wanted folks not to discuss on that thread...silly me for assuming...

    Dear wetware:

Well, I have Issues, or Rather, subscriptions. I suffer from chip envy of the 5-person, 3-position memory set special gadget your neighbor bought from Sharper Image. It's slimmer than I am, and it can do more, too. I'm just pretty fed up with all the people. with the, you know -- things, touch fingers, form Os? -- Thumbs. That's it.

Nothing personal. My numbers are just stuck in the 'naughties.

    No love,

    Scale

  • Omg, Skullarix, is that Oded Fehr? He is HOT! Nice job on holding off weighing in. I totally lack any will power in that area. I weigh almost every day. I’m paranoid to let a whole week go by thinking I’m doing good only for my cals to be off or something. Are you in the east or west valley?

Jenn, that is SO awesome! 25#s totally isn’t that much at all!

Squeak, you’re so cute. I can just picture you outside picking up branches thinking, “ I’m burning calories!” Did you ever figure out the rec center/babysitter situation?

Pixie, are we weighing in on the 31st for the last time or on the 1st? I think you posted it somewhere but I get lost so easy here still.

Kate, whoo-hoo for your 10# mark! Def worth a bunny!

BeachBreeze, lol about the Biggest Loser show. Welcome! We don’t even discuss the tv show because Pixie doesn’t see it until a week after it’s on.

I’m still trudging along. The scale is still being kind to me. We just found out tonight that my DH’s family is having a reunion in May. I can’t even begin to tell you how THRILLED I am that I am already on my way with my weight loss! Don’t you hate it when you go to these things wishing that you had lost weight? That won’t be me this time! Woot!

Anyway, I’m anxious to see the numbers for the challenge. Is there going to be a winning team at the end? I joined without really knowing anything about it.

    -Mel.
  • Good Morning Ladies.
Just wanted to stop by with good news...I'm down 3 pounds so far this week! Not sure how, but I am sooo happy. I feel like I'm on my way to looking great for my cousins wedding in June....plus we are taking a cruise, so I have to be in bathing suit shape. Hope you are all having a great week so far. I hope my momentum can carry me to a great weigh in next Monday. Thanks for your support and posts :-)
  • Mel- Community center does accept 12 year olds for certain classes. DD will turn 12 on March the 3rd so we are going to join after her bd. Right now I am working on with the BL DVD's and I hate DVD's but I really like Bob Harper, doesn't hurt that he's a cutie and he is so sweet. Cardio Max is the one I have. Going to check out Amazon right now and see what other BL DVD's I can get.

Shrewkate- you are so funny. Had me giggling out loud and everyone came into the clinic to see what was wrong with me.

staffingchick- WTG! 3lbs You are already a skinny mini, look at you with impressive stats. Inspires me to get my butt in gear and get this extra weight off.
  • Squeak351...THANKS for the compliment, but the pic of me is when I'm about 10 pounds lighter than I am right now. I call it my "fighting weight"! LOL! I though it would give me some inspiration to post it. It feels great to have so much support on here...I know we can all reach our goals!
  • I'm starting to figure out that lunch is probably the worst meal for me to deal with. Dinner's okay with just meat and veg and salad, but lunch is a little more difficult. I don't want salad, because I eat a large one with dinner. Sandwiches are getting tiresome and there are so many calories in 2 pieces of bread. Anyone have any ideas?[/QUOTE]

Arnolds makes 100 calorie sandwich thins. They come in honey wheat, Multi grain wheat, and White wheat (my fav). They do the job, and you'd be dropping 100 calories off your sandwiches! Do they sell them in NZ?

Not at all. This boondock little town doesn't sell anything of the diet variety unless its Diet Coke. Not enough of a market for it (people are happy being tremendously overweight here, I suppose!). I can use sandwich bread rather than toast bread; I'd get a much thinner slice, but I'm just over sandwiches. I'm sick of eating them.
  • Congrats Kate! I think you need another bunny! - or two. You know what they say about rabbits? They multiply quickly!

Great job on weight loss, StaffingChick! Love the pic - those beautiful blue eyes!

Squeak - Great Job this week!!

Mel, you'll be smokin this year, I am sure of it. You've made such great progress this week!
  • Okay...I don't know if this is appropriate...but did anyone else see the "OCTO-MOM" on the cover of OK magazine this week. I couldn't believe it. I usually don't buy those magazines, but I bought it for a little inspiration. She says that she did all of it with NO surgery. It is pretty amazing that she has 14 kids and looks so great. Just thought I'd get your thoughts. Keep up the hard work:-)
  • I heard about the octo-mom pic but had to look it up... if she did it naturally she sure is dedicated!

I sure wish they had those Arnold's sandwich bread here! No such luck. I did get lucky and scored soemthing similar from orowheat one time but haven't found it since. I use orowheat extra fiber whole grainbread at 70 calories a pop though, not so bad.

I know I missed a LOT of talk since I last posted. Hi everyone! lol

TOM showed up Sunday, just in time for weigh in Monday. I still showed a loss of .9 pounds but of course I have to wonder if and how much more that scale would have shown lost.

Well, here's to next week for all of us!
  • StaffingChick, I just realized you're from Ashtabula. I live near Youngstown.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good week in spite of some injuries (hope you are better soon!) and TOMs. I'm so tickled to see how motivated we all are. I am also in awe of pretty much everyone here who has been diligent with their intake and conscientious about exercising. I'm doing okay in the food department, but winter blahs have hit me hard and moving is kind of tough to do. I'm just grateful that the laundry room is downstairs so at least there are several flights of steps a day to count on!
