water??? I really do not like the taste of water. Not plain or with citrus in it. Artificial sweeteners all give me migraines so there is no crystal light for me. I am cutting WAY back on my coca-cola and making myself drinking water...but I don't like it. Anything that I have not tried that anyone can suggest? Or am I at least not alone on this???
ME!!!! Hate it. When I drink a whole glass of it, I get that shiver/grimace thing like you get when you swallow nasty tasting medicine.
I drink way too much diet Coke, and I wish I didn't drink so much so I won't encourage you to do too much of that, but what about Crystal Light or Iced Tea? I will say that I can tolerate super cold sparkling water better than the flat stuff. So maybe give that a try with some lemon squeezed in?
I used to hate the taste or should I say the lack of taste of water. When I was in my 20s I would only drink water when rinsing my mouth after brushing my teeth...the rest of the time I drank sodas. NOW, I love water!!! I started drinking it cause I was retaining fluid from having to take prednisone and omgosh! Drinking water makes you feel so good! Our bodies need the hydration of water that other drinks cannot give us. Yes, we do get hydrated from some of the foods we eat but just by drinking water...it helps our organs function better and overall just makes us feel better! I prefer bottled water but will even drink tap water now over sodas.
Instead of thinking what you are missing...maybe try really listening to how your body feels. I hope this gives you some encouragement about water. I didn't mean to preach....lol...its just that I have been there..... good luck!
I go through phases. Fine with it for a while, then won't touch a drop for weeks. I'm not a fan of the mix-in's either. The colder the better, choking it down.

Why not try diluting it with an unsweetened fruit juice, 50/50?
What about koolaid sans sugar? You know, the kind that you have to mix the sugar in with, but not the sugar-free stuff (oh man! What I wouldn't do to have some grape and cherry koolaid mix! Can't get that here and I miss it!).
I have mix-ins that have a nice flavour and they're packed with B-vitamins. But along with CLCSC, I can't stand plain water. I thought I was the only one who grimaced when I drank it!!
Giving up coke is probably the best thing for you! The results are nearly immediate; my skin's heaps clearer and radiant (I just turned 30, so it's not like I'm a teenager anymore!). I feel much better too.
Your not alone..I hate drinking it too. I have to have it very very cold, also i do find it easier to have bottle water on hand. I tend to drink more. I love my coke but i try to drink a glass of water before i get a coke. So i guess you can say I try too drink a glass of water in between my cokes. Good luck and know that your not the only one fighting this battle..
More and more research is proving that water does not have to be plain (in fact, water never is - water always has dissoved "stuff" in it (unless it's distilled - and that isn't good to drink). Your body processes the water in foods, just fine - so all moisture counts.
Fruit juice, tea, milk, soup, "wet" foods like fruits and vegetables... they all count.
Of course, the calories do too. Plain water does have the advantage of being free and calorie-free, but you can add flavorings to your water (slices of fruit {I like lemon, lime or orange}, natural or artificial flavorings {I find that a drop or two of almond extract tastes more like cherry than cherry extract does}, broths and teas are good too).
well here is a little motivation.
2 liters of coke (about how much water you should be drinking) is about 810 calories, for me that is MORE than 1/2 my caloric intake for the day.
Try some of the flavored seltzer waters, a good sub for the bubbles
I am the same way, but have found to really like spa style water---use meyer lemons (for detoxification), slices of oranges, and limes, and maybe even cucumber.
you need to start with a really good water, as well. Volvic and Voss and the one in the blue/purple bottle, as well as Smart Water, all taste yummy to me. evian tastes icky---sort of too salty/soapy for me.
you have to make yourself drink water for a while so that it becomes a habit, and you no longer miss the sugary sweet drinks.
you can also try celestial teas---they are very tasty, but without any sugar
you could also try adding water to your favorite juice, and slowly adding less and less juice.
I hate water too! I find that if I have a bottle of water, or water in a sports bottle with me all day, I will mange to drink that easier than drinking a glass of water. Especially works if you have a desk job!
When I was a sodaholic, I really hated water. I mean really hated it, unless it was flavored with coffee. I forced myself off of the soda and after a week or two, I found that I actually didn't mind plain water at all. I think the soda was messing up my taste buds or something! Now I allow myself a diet soda only when we go out to eat - maybe once per week. One of the best things I have ever done. I thought I would forever hate water, too - good luck to you!!
When I struggled to drink water, I would make a rule that I couldn't have anything else to drink unless I drank X amount of water first.
I think a big thing for me was realizing that drinks didn't have to be sweet to be satisfying. Aside from unflavored milk, most things people drink are sweet. Realizing that drinks could be satisfying without satisfying a sweet tooth made water that much better.
As for ways to make water more tasty, I really like water with True Lemon or True Lime powder in and a ton of ice, or cucumbers floating in the bottom. Cucumber and mint in water is delicious.
Wow. I guess I'm the only one who likes water. I prefer Dasani.
There are several options in the grocery store, but I guess it depends on where you are.
I used to could only drink water super cold, but now I prefer it to be room temperature.
Since you can't do the artificial sweetner your options are very limited, but I'm sure where there is a will there is a way.
I agree milliondollarbbw about needing to start with a good tasting water.
You can freeze low sugar fruit juices and put those in your water as a way to "flavor" it and not add too many calories.
I do believe the more water you drink the more you will get "used to" it.
