Does anyone else just hate...

  • I love water! However, I used to be a big diet pepsi drinker (about a 2 liter a day). I quit all artificial sweetners last year, because I read a book about the dangers that scared the living daylights out of me. I started drinking carbonated water to get the bubble feel. If you really like soda, you can try that for a while and see if it helps.

If you want to read the book it's "Sweet Deception" by Dr Mercola and Dr Pearsall http://products.mercola.com/sweet-deception/
  • I love water and drink it all day long. The key for me is to have it ice cold and ALWAYS drink it with a straw (I don't like the ice/cold water on my teeth). It also helps it to go down faster.
  • I love water because it's the only thing that quenches my thirst. I drink over 70oz every day. It's easy for me because I don't allow myself any other drinks. Water it is. All day. Every day. The reason I can do this easily is because I love food more than any drink. LOL! There's no way I'm wasting my calories on juice or soda when I can add more cheese, chicken or whatever... LOL!
  • um - I love water. Sorry.

But - I love cold tea even more. Unsweetened cold tea. Today I have a cold gold tea in my fridge, and of course, cold green tea. It's easy to make - using a glass bottle, boil off the appropriate amount of water, add tea bags to taste (I like it strong, so I use 4 tea bags for 2 liters, steeped overnight) and then add a little honey or sugar if you must. Pop in fridge overnight - in the AM remove the tea bags and enjoy all day. I don't add sugar, so I get to cheat and only use 1/2 boiling water and 1/2 tap water, but if you need the sugar, I am convinced you MUST use all boiling water to avoid spoilage.

It's calorie free, and fights wrinkles!
  • I enjoy drinking water I just don't like having to run to the bathroom every few minutes =)
  • i think the best way to take water is room temp. if you get water from a tap and allow it to set, the chlorine dissapates. for me, this prep makes the water go down much more smoothly and i don't have all the waste of those plastic bottles. it's like drinking nothing. i like to put the total amount for my day in a container, so i know how much more i should drink.
  • I'm not sure if this has been suggested or not, but you can try herbal teas with a little stevia. I know people say stevia has a bitter taste, and I've tried many different types of stevia over the years hoping to get healthier, but I finally found one that I like in my drinks.

When I was pregnant, blood sugar issues were a concern for me, and I craved lemonade, so I began using Stevia Balance. It comes in little packets and one whole packet mixed with a mason jar of ice water and lemon juice was just perfect for my craving.

The great thing about Stevia Balance is that it has chromium and a few other nutritional supplements added. Chromium is known for helping with blood sugar issues, which is a definite concern for me since I've obviously gone a few years without taking care of myself.

Anyway, I know you said you don't like citrus, but you could always make a nice herbal tea, add a packet of Stevia Balance and have a calorie free sweet drink that actually has nutritional benefits.
  • I hate water! Just a few sips make me feel like I'm water logged. No artificial sweeteners taste good to me, bad enough to make me cringe. Ice cold water does taste better but I've read that it will give you migraines. Is sweet tea ok? It's the only other thing I like. I've tried it with splenda but it tasted horrible, the decaf tea is ok to me though.
  • I like to drink green rooibos tea. It's decaf and has no, or almost no, calories. I get it loose leaf, by the pound on amazon. Just like anything else, not everybody likes it.

I'm not sure how helpful this is,though, for a sodaholic. It's not sweet, and it has no bubbles. I also don't *hate* water, but strongly prefer tea.
  • I add in the Special K protein water mix because it gives my water flavor, adds protein (which makes me feel full) and has 5 gr fiber so that adds to my fiber and daily water requirements (24 oz of water per packet?). The flavor is good too (comes in 3 varieties that I have found) but I have only been able to find it at Wal-mart or Target in their pharmacy/diet section. Hope that helps!
  • I'm drinking water right now. I havn't been able to completely break myself from soda when eating but have toned it down. Now I'm sipping on half a can of soda while eating and drinking a whole bottle of water per every half a can of coke drank. I don't like my husbands Crystal powers so I guess I'm going to have to find some sort of mix that I like.
  • Try iced tea, like some of the others have suggested. I can't stand diet soda which is to my advantage when I'm watching what I'm eating. I will never lose my love for good old Coca Cola but I know one will lead me to three more.
