Well girls ttom is going much more smoothly thank god. I was supposed to get a training run in last night. Lets just say ttom was not going that well. I did manage to get about an hour and a half of tennis in with the hubby. He is so sweet to play with me, I am really bad. Eating was well...better than it could have been considering the time of the month. Today I am hoping to squeeze that training run in so as not to be behind. MIL is coming into town tomorrow so I will also be burning some serious midnight oil cleaning. Have a great day girls!

miss michelle - well not gaining is always a good thing. That is a pretty weird weekend of eating though. Bet it feels good to be back on track.

lissa - how cute sounds like your little one is adorable. Congrats on your inches lost.

appoline - a hike sounds divine. I know what you mean it has been so nice I just want to be outside all the time.

Steph - glad to see you back, were wondering what you were up to.

maja - HEY YOU! I think we can do 25,000 bring it on!

misstraveller - I told you that you could do it. Doesn't it feel amazing to do something hard like that, something you totally had told yourself you could not do. 2 mins is a lot rofl...I started with 30 run / 90 walk intervals...and I was winded...

LockItUp- Glad you're feeling better. I've read through your blog, and I can really relate to some of your struggles.

MissTraveller- I'm an evening gym person now too. I love Bob Greene and I really believe in his program..I found that when I worked out in the morning I had a lot of energy through the day and when I was feeling slack, it was a good way for me to get it over with before I could put it off. However, I figured out that a lot of my eating was happening between like.. 6-8. Sooo.. I've started working out around then and it keeps me away from the fridge. I like working out both times, but I miss the extra energy from morning workouts.

I'm getting impatient, which I know is a bad thing. I'm down 6 pounds in 3 weeks, and if someone else posted about that I would tell them they were on the right track. I just feel like it should be more since I'm actually doing consistently well this time..
I'm not impatient in a "If I don't see lower numbers I'm gonna stop" sort of way, but I feel like I'm at the point of begging my body to let go of some weight. So, I'm going to keep trying to cut out unneccesary calories until my weight loss is more consistent. (I haven't lost any this week. Next week starts PMS which means I won't lose any then either. Then TOM. I'm basically guaranteed not to see a change 2wks/month.)

Luckily!! Today was the last day of summer school for me. I'm free now! Except for .. work, which obviously isn't so bad since I'm here updating.

stephanie- I have found that the sports that I suck in tend to be the most fun. Snowboarding for example. I'm embarassingly awful at it (especially for growing up down the road from a ski resort), but I have too much fun to care. Have fun with the MIL cleaning- just think of the extra calories you burn when you deep clean like that.

Miss Michelle- I've noticed that as well when I only eat one bad meal on the weekends. Now, breakfast is such a habit that I try to get a little something in my stomach even if food is the last thing on my mind. Here's to not gaining though. Woo hoo!

Wasted Thermos- I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but maybe put your scale away for a bit? I say that because it sounds as though you are being consistant and aren't going to be falling off the trail anytime soon. I had 80 pounds to lose and it just seemed so daunting. I also didn't own a scale the entire time (I do now and it's the bain of my existence!), so it wasn't unusual for me to go 2-3 weeks without weighing. It was kind of nice to see 5+ losses at a time and it helped through the plateaus as well. At the very least I can sympathize with being impatient! Ugh! Keep on keeping on...

Hey! Maja and Stephanie! Two long-time-no-see'rs. I'm glad you both popped in to say hi!!

Haha, I work in a public affairs office so we have the news on all day on TV, you know how many times I've heard the story about 2 characters dying in the next Harry Potter book? It must be a slow news day

Eating has been really good today. I'm proud of myself. I've joined up on this month's fitness challenge -- the last time I did one was May!! I really need that goal on paper (?? internet paper) to motivate me. And to see everyone else doing so awesome on their exercise really helps too! You gals are incredible!

I found an apartment to move into in August! Actually, I'm taking it over mid-July... so for a while it will just be there waiting for me. I'll visit it on the weekends It's a nice, clean 1 bedroom in a quiet residential neighborhood... I have a big backyard to myself... And I have empty flowerbeds waiting for me! I'm so excited! I'm going to have to go back to last week's chat and find out who it was that suggested I look at craigslist, because that's exactly how I ended up finding this place... so thank you so much to whoever that was!

junebug -- so, last july 4 you conquered a mountain... any plans for this year?

WastedThermos -- I'm at that begging stage too. Begging and pleading. On the other hand, I'm not doing so well as you are at maintaining your calorie range each day... So I'm kind of keeping myself here. I understand how it feels though

Stephie -- you didn't realize that part of the marrige contract is "I agree to humor my wife and not make her feel silly for sucking at sports"? Good for you for getting out there, I love playing tennis but also am a member of the No Skills club!

That's it for me for now... keep up the good work everyone

Jaime- When I was interning at Clear Channel last summer it was the same thing. TV's in every room and CNN on every one of them (except the hard rock station...porn addicts )

I completely forgot about last year! I have to work on the 4th at 4 a.m. so I wasn't planning on anything, but now I think I will have an adventure this weekend. I can't thank you enough for bringing that to my attention!

wow! everyone's been so busy!
i am leaving for a week of vacation up at lake tahoe (lake on the border of california and nevada) i am going with my family, so there will be LOTS of good food. i am hoping to keep on my diet though and i know there will be lots of opportunities for fun i-don't-even-realize-i'm-excercising excercise. it will be tough though to be around my two brothers and dad who eat like madmen and have about 1% body fat (literally -- my brother's a body builder). any tips on portion control and avoiding bad foods when you are surrounded by them for a week???

stephie -- that is so nice of your husband! my boyfriend is not as accomodating..he always kick my butt in whatever it is we're playing. but i love him anyway

britomart -- lol...i feel the same way. i'm begging the scale to move, but of course it's not if i keep eating the way i do!!

June -- I love adventures! Let us know what you plan on doing

Hey chickadees, I hope all is well! I just ended a full second day of eating like a normal person again instead of like eating like it was going out of style. I think it will always be in style so I don't really need to eat like it's my last day.

Good vibes for Wednesday!!!

Hey everyone, just dropping by quick before bed. Long day... ate junk for lunch, but got in an extra-long workout, so hoping that offset the crappy calories. I could tell I'd been bad this afternoon, felt that mid-afternoon slump I haven't felt for a long time.
Michelle- Lake Tahoe sounds great! Good luck with the bad foods. My only advice is to keep telling yourself you don't need it, or find healthy alternatives. I always end up nibbling, so don't beat yourself up about it. Isn't there a lot of outdoor stuff to do there? Maybe you could work off the extra cals?
Brit- The apartment sounds awesome! I'm totally green with envy over your garden. Oh, to have a bit of grass of my own! Congrats on the good eating.
Stephie- OK, so sore from the running, had to revert back to the elliptical. Maybe I'll alternate? We'll see if there's a difference this week.
So I'm going to Sweet Tomatoes, my FAVORITE restaurant in the universe tomorrow, so I'm hoping not to overdo it too bad. Will have to work out extra hard to offset the salad buffet calories! Could be worse...
Have a great Wednesday everyone!!!

Hello Newbies, and Hello Oldies??? LOL

Just wanted to pop in and say HI. I"m in the midst of summer school, and between my regular job and moving...and everything in between all that, I have been super busy!

I havent' lost any weight in a long time, so I'm thinking for July I am going to start doing this water thing.
Have you guys heard of it?
It's where you drink a 8oz glass of water before you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner?

My exercise has been on point, I'm actually going to make my goal for the first time, since we started doing these fitness challenges! Finally, after six months. My food has been ok, but I'm ready to do something to get the scale moving downward.

Let me know if you have tried or are interested in giving this water thing a try for July!

Happy Hump Day!

Well ladies still ttom. Went to try and do my training run last night. Only got about a mile under my belt before I just started feeling crappy. I am not taking it as a defeat though...usually I don't even work out during ttom and I ran a mile? What what what? What is going on? Hehe...was a little bored later in the evening so made the hubby go out for some hidden exercise tennis for about an hour.

NSV - I was shaving my legs yesterday and I was noticing for the first time how great my calves are looking from running. Then I looked and it appears my legs are getting much more toned. Which is a feat since my thighs/backs of my knees always bothered me so much I would not even wear shorts. For me to think my legs are looking good (I am my toughest critic) must mean they really are huh? I cannot wait to do measurements again.

Today I have to work at home this morning. Then I have 4 photos scheduled and then more work. Just had a huge financial set back. We are talking like 4000.00 setback. I am trying not to let the stress make me eat my way to happiness. Thats what I have running for right?

wasted thermos - I can relate. I have been plateaud for some time but not working as hard as you have been. 2 lbs a week is quite a change...a healthy change. Sorry to say it takes time. I know you can do it though.

june - You know I have lived in CO my whole life and have never been skiing? Which do you think it easier to learn...skiing or snowboarding?

brito - Congrats on the apt...I am so happy for you.

missmichelle - I think my hubby humors me. When I am REALLY bad at something he lets me win but once I start holding my own ground he makes it a point to clobber me. Maybe you could bring a picture with you for inspiration...before you eat glance at it and maybe it will help with your portion control. A list of your goals may work as well.

steph - haha like it is going out of style. I feel like that sometimes. Glad you are back to being here again, missed you!

misstraveller - You know the couch to 5k program I did through coolrunning.com had me start out much slower than 2 mins straight of running in intervals. I think it was mainly to get my body used to the physiology of running. Perhaps you should try the program? It starts off a tad bit easy which is good because you won't be too sore...and man oh man it gets harder believe me! I would also definitely reccomend alternating running with an off day. If you want to increase your stamina for running you can spin/bike ride on your off days.

spill - I try to drink 8 oz before I eat...it really does make you get full a little sooner. Nice way to pace out your water and get it in throughout the day as well.

I have to say Im so proud of myself today! I had a LONG day at work with lots of physical labor (we were doing inventory on lots and lots of books, pitcure ladder climbing, lifting boxes etc) and I STILL went and worked out tonight for an hour. WOOT! And I felt SO good afterwards.
I also ate really good for dinner (broiled fish, mmmm!!!)
I got a little mp3 player and it really makes a difference in my motivation for the gym. I love to go listen to all that great music while I exercise!

I am so ready for this month to be over, it seems I started strong in the middle of the month but now I have completely fallen off the wagon. But I have done better this month then I did last month. It's just a little depressing.

I need to start visiting the forum more it's so motivating!

Bye!

Junebug - I think the scale definitely needs to take a rest... At the end of the day, the number is kind of irrelevant anyway at THIS point because I do feel like I`m doing the right stuff. If I haven`t lost in like .. a month, then I`ll re-evaluate things. It`s just so tempting!

Brito- Congrats on the new place! I recently signed a lease on a new apartment too, but mine doesn`t seem nearly as comfortable. It`s just for a year though, so I guess it doesn`t need to be. How far away from the city do you stay? DC is one of my favorite cities to visit and one of my top choices of places to move after graduation.

Michelle - I've never been out west but I hear Lake Tahoe is a great place to vacation. Have fun and don't worry too much about the food thing. You've lost so much already that you *know* the good from the bad. I'm going away for the weekend with people who aren`t worried about watching their weight either and I'm just planning on taking some low-cal snacks to fill up on before meals like fruits and veggies. And if that fails, just remind yourself of all the hard work you`ll have to do to undo the damage of a total free-for-all vacation.

MissTraveller - It wasn`t till I started REALLY paying attention to my food that I figured out eating crappy made me feel crappy. All these years I never put those two things together. Good for you for getting in an extra long work out!

Spillthebeans- I've never heard of the water thing officially, but it sounds like it would make sense... and yuck.. summer school. I just finished and I am so glad.

Stephie- hehe.. yay for pushing yourself to work out during your TOM and for getting new sexy legs!

Slimming- Yes! I can do so much more with my mp3 player than I can without it. And awesome job on the work out and healthy dinner. Feels great, right?

RosieK- The forum really helps motivate me too. Keeps me thinking about what I'm supposed to be doing instead of wandering around the food table at work or the kitchen at home. Come get back on the wagon with us!

I found an article in the .. Ladies Who Lift forum .. I think.. about why the scale doesn`t move and it made me feel a little better yesterday. Today my calories were lower (actually under 1300 for once) but I didn`t do as much at the gym. I think I`m a wee bit burnt out on the gym, but I want to keep it up until Saturday when I go to the beach.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Is this week over yet? This should be the last week of **** On Earth at work (at least for awhile) so I'm really looking forward to the end... The minutes for the exercise challenge are a little daunting. I'm going to try to get up early tomorrow and at least get in a walk before work.

stephie- hooray for sexy calves! I'm going to have to settle for "I like the tops of my feet" right now, haha! I'm really sorry to hear about you finance situation. Something positive will happen, you'll see.

lizzie- are you mixing up your workouts? burn out is a dangerous, dangerous thing. I'm pulling for you! I wish I lived anywhere near a beach, I'm so jealous of your Saturday plans!

rosie- the wagon seems to take off before I even get on it at times... reading posts on here really does motivate me to exercise, some days if only so I can post my minutes. you'll get back in the swing of things.

everyone else- i hope you all had a fabulous wednesday and that the rest of the month is smooth sailing for everyone
