Spill: You're right! We can do this. I was actually thinking the same thing about increasing my exercise. I'm always on a time limit when I go to the gym because I usually go over lunch or in the early afternoon. So, I try to get in both cardio and weights in a hour or so. I'm thinking of changing it to just doing cardio over lunch, and then go back in the evening to do weights. Hopefully, that will help break me out of the 170 rut! Good luck to you on breaking through to the 160s!

Stephanie: Congrats! By looking at your ticker, it looks like you are in the 160s now. Great job! Spill and I hope to join you there soon.

Jenicra: Welcome back!

trnsfrmnreplace: Congrats on a smaller size!

Megan: Ooo! Mexican food! I love it! It sounds like you did a great job at watching your portions -- congrats!

Sara: Good luck with your classes.

Haleys: Glad your muscle is doing better. Only one day off is not bad.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I started my marathon training today, super busy. I have to have 100 fundraising letters completed by the 12th to get free postage for them. My fundraising goal for the marathon is $3100.00 EEEEEK. I'm scared.

Hope everyone doing good. I'll catch up on the thread and talk to ya'll later.

Oooh goodness. This week has been MUCH better despite a mexican food slip up last night. I found something icky in my food, so I think that might have been what it took to keep me away from the mexican food for a while. Good thing.
I've gotten back into my classes and counting calories and so I'm pretty pumped up because tonight I am going to my first Weight Watchers meeting!!
I had been thinking about it for a while, just to have some extra support around here since most of my friends are kind of... against healthy living at this point in their lives. A friend of a friend mentioned to me that she had lost 10lbs going there so I kind of invited myself to go with her.
I'm nervous, but excited.

It's almost Friday.. which means it is almost the weekend!!!

For once, I am coming out ahead on my to-do list! So much work to do, but a lot of it I can't do right now because I am waiting on other people. At least it's better to be busy and have stuff to do than be bored out of my mind like I was this summer.

byebigbutt - Good luck with the marathon training! That's really impressive!

jdoggmartin - Maybe you are stuck at 170 because you aren't eating *enough*? I noticed on the food log thread your calories are way low, maybe eating more would help you lose. When I plateaued around 165, I was stuck there until I started eating more! Adding more fat to my diet helped too.

Megan - OMG, Mexican food. I have been in Mexican food withdrawal since moving from LA to Providence. Now I'm hungry!

Sara - You can make it! Hang in there!

Jenicra - Welcome back!

Everyone else I missed - hang in there! I am going crazy with Thanksgiving coming up, I know I will be EATING, and of course I am stupid so I sit down every night after dinner and watch the FOOD NETWORK. Last night I watched a show all about desserts, after having watched Rachael Ray make stuffed french bread pizzas. I was about ready to die. Why do I do this to myself? I have been buying Thanksgiving magazines too (Martha Stewart Living, etc) and drooling over the food. Do you guys do that too? I guess my problem is I absolutely love cooking, especially baking.

Paperclippy - Food Network and food magazines are the "porn" of dieters . I really have to be careful watching the Food Network!!!

Anyone watch Oprah today??? I am watching it right now. It's a good topic and all i guess but, is it just me or is Oprah being RUDE!!! Sheesh! Like the lady doesn't feel bad enough, holy crap! I don't understand why the lady does what she does either, but lordy you'd think she's be more empathetic!

Sorry to rant, no one is home to tell!

Paperclippy: That might be a possibility... I've never been a calorie counter. I just started yesterday. I had just been eating low carb, not counting calories at all. I lost 45 pounds doing that, but got stuck at 170. I thought I'd switch things up. I had no idea where I was calorie-wise. It's interesting to see, and I'll try eating some more (you twisted my arm ).

I love the Food Network, but I only try to watch when I'm full!

Hey All! Hmmm, Mexican food, smaller sizes, new meetings to attend and marathon goals to acheive... I like what I'm hearing! It sounds like the week may be turning around for the majority of us? (I know it is for me--I've turned my car off every time I've gotten out since Wednesday! ) Good to see you around again Jenicra!

Since Lock it Up brought up porn.... (akward segue) ....anybody know of anyone who wants to buy antique porn?? My husband is in the process of ripping up the floor boards in our attic to add more insulation so we won't have to take out a second mortgage for our heating bills this winter. He found a mint condition set of 4 Eros books from 1963. I think they were only put out for one year, but one of them is chock full of Marilyn Monroe. I looked on ebay, but they're only going for like $12 each. It's amazing to see the difference between what is immodest back then to what it is now! Anyway. I want to know if they're worth anything. I mean hey, if our attic is a treasure chest, maybe we'll start ripping the whole house apart...

Have a great Friday!!!

Also, I found this cool site, that will calculate how many calories you need according to how much weight you want to lose...and it even will calculate according to how much you workout or don't... check it out

Wow Spill, that's a pretty cool site. According to it, I can eat over 2000 calories a day and still lose. Cool to hear, don't think I will though. I like it though, that is a really great way to get a general estimate!

Okay something must be wrong for me. I went to that site and this is what it said:
If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you may increase your caloric intake to 2469.3 calories per day and still maintain your current weight.

If you exercise for 60 minutes each day, you may increase your caloric intake to 2777.5 calories per day to maintain your current weight.

If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 2111.9 calories per day.

If you exercise for 60 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 2372.3 calories per day
.

I do exercise for 60 minutes a day usually and I take in under 1500 calories but I'm not losing. What's wrong with this picture. Am I not eating enough? Or is my metabolism shot?

spill- that's an informative site. I like the fact that it broke down your daily needs for you. It tells me how many carbs and how much protein and fat I need.

It's been raining and dark here (Minnesota) for the last couple days. At least it's not snow, hopefully we don't get much of that icky stuff this year! I had a very nonproductive day yesterday. I went out on Friday and drank a little* too much and felt like crap all day yesterday. I'm going to the gym today and am going to work extra hard to make up for my alcohol consumption.

Bybigbutt: What type of food is making up your calories? IF you are eating a lot of carbs, you might want to look into eating more protein.
