Hey seemzy - we're still going strong here. There's a little less than 10 weeks left until Thanksgiving Day if you'd like to join us and set a goal for yourself!
I'm doing really well right now. I'm excited to weigh in again on Tuesday morning - I'm hoping for a pretty big loss - at least two pounds I'm thinking!
Hi all! Okay, I have been bad...not food wise, just haven't really exercised in a few weeks (except once at the gym). The good news is that I'm still losing. Okay, so I started this challenge on August 26th at 186 lbs, and as of September 18th I weigh 178 lbs. So, that's an 8 lb loss in 24 days...which averages out to be .333... of a lb a day. At this rate I will weigh 156 on Thanksgiving day! Arghhh, did I set my goal weight too low? Anyone? My initial goal was to lose 33 lbs in 90 days...was that too lofty a goal?
Amanda - honestly, yeah - 33 lbs. in 90 days is pretty darn high. Maybe if you were just starting and you could expect a big drop 5-10 lbs. in the first week, it might be more reasonable. BUT I also set a lofty goal (30 pounds in 90 days) - so who am I to give advice? However, I also knew I'd have a pretty big drop week 1 - and I did - 6 lbs. - so that really gave me a head start. Maybe you should set a more realistic goal to keep your mind sane and still work towards the overall goal? Like, say that you want to lose 2 lbs./week from here on out - putting you at 160, and since you're so close to a new decade - why don't you push one more pound out (hehe - that's what I always do when setting goals). So say you want to be between 153-159 by your goal date - that way you have some flex room and you're not so worked up about it.
BTW - you're like right there with me - my weigh-in is on Tuesday and I'm expecting to see somewhere between 176-178 and my goal is to be 155 on T-Day - let's do it!
i know i am a tad late to join the challenge, but i figured i might as well post to keep myself accountable since thanksgiving is about 10 weeks away, i would like to be down 15 pounds (i think that is realistic for me) to 137!!! omg i just realized that is below my goal weight. WOW i didn't realize it was that close! if i could be at my goal weight by Thanksgiving I would be so excited! it will be the first time i see some relatives for a while, so that would be a great surprise! wait...that WILL be a great surprise!
Hi all, I've decided I need to commit to a goal and Thanksgiving is as good a milestone as any. As you can see from my signature, I've had a big backslide over the past few months and re-gained 10 lbs. My goal is to lose it by Thanksgiving. 10 lbs in 8 weeks is a little faster than I usually lose weight, but hey, I want to at least try. Plus I'm hoping since the last 5 lbs is vacation gain it's not "real" weight and will come off pretty fast - how my body usually works when I put on weight.
I'm also trying to re-up my running to to 20 miles/week by the holidays. About 3 months ago I was up to 25-30 miles/week...and then I slid down to about 20 miles a week...to 10... and currently I've logged about 10 miles in the last 3 weeks. I'm hoping that stating this "publicly" will make me accountable (although my waistbands are currently holding me pretty d!@# accountable all on their own).
Okay, with Thanksgiving less than 8 weeks away I'm gonna join in. My goal for the October challenge is to break the 200 mark, so by Thanksgiving
...checking calendar...I'll try to break the 190 I can do it! I will do it! I have to do it! So I'll be on my way to update my sig ticker and lose, ummm, 21 lbs.
My cheer squad:
Good luck to everyone.

byebigbutt--The tickerfactory ones are allowed...or at least I would assume so since some of the moderators here have them in their signatures The outside stuff that's not allowed would typically be anything that promotes or is trying to sell a product, but since tickerfactory's tickers are free, go for it!
I know I'm kind of late to this, but I would like to join in. I'm 255 at my current weight, so my goal for thanksgiving is 15 pounds eg 240. Definitely achievable.
