Megan - I'm going to look for it tonight. This thread has me making a grocery list between that and the broccoli recipe!

Justforus - OMG... Sonic food is sooo good. And well, bad for you at the same time. It is a drive-in burger/hot dog place. The Boy used to work there so he would bring me home food (because, obviously he is evil...) Anyway... I'm rambling.
There is a 24hour one really close to my apt now and when all my roommates go get their milkshakes I get a diet cherry limeade, which is sooo good and still low in calories.

Hey, figured I would pop in on this week's chat.

My weekend was similar in the partly good-partly bad aspect. I skipped my long run on Sunday (supposed to do 7 miles this time) and splurged on pizza for dinner. HOWEVER I was able to stop myself after just two pieces (topped with jalapenos and tomatoes) and still fit in some Pilates in the morning. And the night before we went to Chili's for dinner and I ordered the Guiltless Chicken Platter and didn't drink any alcohol with dinner.

On the subject of Edy's/Dreyer's new slow-churned line, I have to sing their praises. I actually won that Neighborhood Block Party contest and got 12 cartons of the light ice cream. Soooo not so good on the portion control side but I tested all those flavors and I don't think I found a single one that I didn't like. French Silk was VERY GOOD!

Sushi, I want the recipe for vegetable-cheese samosas! Never heard of them but they sound good! And low-cal.

Congrats to Papperclippy on the upcoming engagement--very exciting!

I bought myself a beautiful new dress from Ross while I was up in Dallas last week (size 6, no less!) but I have no idea where to wear it. It would be perfect for a wedding so if anyone has an extra invite around...hahaha I love getting dressed up!

lizzbabe - 12 cartons of ice cream! I would be in heaven.

I was feeling down today because my weight loss is going sooo slow, but today at the gym I jogged for 30minutes!
I had to share because this is a major accomplishment for me. A few months ago I could only go 12minutes, and two weeks ago I could only go 20minutes. Jogging 30minutes was one of my august goals, but I think I'm going to up it to 35minutes now.

It's a South Asian thing - popular in places such as India, Pakistan... Usually it's deep fried, and thus greasy, but it can be baked as well. It's made out of pastry arranged into a triangular shape with potatoes and pea stuffing inside (that's the "traditional" stuffing, but there are lots of varieties). They're a bit spicy, which surprises a lot of people. To be eaten with chutney, but I use plum sauce.

Here, I found a picture

Thanks for the visual--I will have to keep my eyes open at the grocery store next time. I'm bummed because I really wanted to try cooking with rhubarb and I saw it at the store last week and either the season is over or it didn't sell well because I couldn't find it anywhere last night. Oh well, there's always something else.

Oh, good lord, Sonic rocks my world! We don't have them up here (thank god, or I'm sure I'd weigh about 350 by now!), but we had them in Va Beach, which is where I lived last year. It's just so much better than other fast food places--not necessarily better quality or better for you, but just better tasting for some reason. We always make it a point to hit Sonic when we go to visit my sister in Va Beach (like this weekend--Sonic, here I come!)

Man, my mouth hurts. I hate the dentist. I had a broken filling between my back 2 molars that I had to have drilled out and replaced yesterday afternoon. He had to put novocaine in 3 times because he would do something and it would HURT so he kept having to add more. Because it was between the teeth, he had to put this metal ring around my back molar and turn a little crank thingy to separate it from the one next to it so he could get in there to drill. The whole left side of my face is now kinda sore, and the gums around my back molar are all puffy. I always figured I deserved it before, like I didn't brush or floss enough, so I needed to get a filling, but in this case, I already had the filling, and for some reason, it broke and needed to be replaced--so not my fault! Thank GOD for insurance, though--I only had to pay $15 and change for a job that actually cost almost $300, so that's the one plus side of this ordeal So now I am hungry for breakfast, but I don't want to eat anything cuz it hurts. Maybe I can manage some scrambled eggs...sorry for whining!

Jill- OUCH on the dentist visit. That doesn't sound like much fun.

I had never been to Sonic before we moved to Texas and now the only things I've gotten there are ice cream but if you are craving a sweet treat their Junior Banana Split is so cute and portion controlled.

Jill, yuck the dentist sucks!! Im scared of them! hahah ahhh HUMP DAY!!! this summer is flying by isn't it??
This sonic place sounds YUMMY!! Im kinda glad I dont know where one is, and have never been to one! as sad as that sounds! lol
Lizzbabe 12 cartons?? I think I remeber you posting something about that a month or 2 ago! thats nuts!! did you have room in your freezer?
Not to mention, this edy's slow churned ice cream, NEVER had that either.. I think I might be a lil deprived here!! Which can be such a good thing!! Im not a big sweet person anyhow, the only ice cream I like is mint chocolate chip, and its very rare that I have cravings for that!

Megan~ Yes, I've definitely been stressing a lot lately...about finances, my marriage, and my job to name a few. LOL I'm wanting to change my career path and have the opportunity to take an Orthodontic Assisting class but I'm scared and nervous and don't really know if it's something I'm supposed to do...or if it will really make a difference. My ultimate dream is to be a stay at home mom, but there's no way we can afford that and it's really been on my mind lately... Plus, the $1600 for the class is still in the bank account right now and it sure is nice having that little buffer...once I pay for the class it will be right back to worrying about bouncing checks and living paycheck to paycheck. And I REALLY want to join a gym, REALLY need to have a bunch of teeth filled and a few other medical things done, and that $1600 is calling my name for these things (my dental insurance SUCKS)... Sheesh, probably TMI huh? LOL So yeah, I think my current slump is 100% due to stress!

Justforus~ Sonic is DELISH...unfortunately!! If you ever get a chance to try it...DON'T! It'll ruin your diet! LOL

HI everyone,

I agree....I hate going to the dentist! It's just no fun. So of course I put it off until something is really wrong and that makes it worse when I do go.

Well, I don't know what's up with me. I just haven't been in the flow this week. I skipped 2 days of exercise this past week, which isn't a lot but it was Sunday and yesterday and I usually don't do them so close together. Yesterday was stupid...I went looking for my WATP 4 mile tape and couldn't find it so I looked and looked instead of just doing another tape and it was getting close to 11 o'clock so I gave up instead of doing something else. My hubby is finishing our basement so he has the electricity unhooked down there right now so it's hard to do my bike this week. I've also been pretty lax on my food. I haven't been going crazy but been between 1600 and 1900 a day instead of below 1600. The BIG problem with it is that I'm LOSING weight! I'd down to just below 161 from being up at the beginning of the week. It's not helping me get back onto track when I'm losing weight by being lax. So today is supposedly the day. I am on a cleaning bent so I'm going to do that today and that will hopefully get me all fired up.

Good luck ladies! Have a great week! I hope everyone does great and keeps motivated! WE can do it!

Amber

Amber--maybe your body just needed MORE calories. Everyone's metabolism is different, and maybe for you and you activity level, your body burns more efficiently with more fuel. Don't go too crazy with it, as too many calories certainly won't help either, but maybe you've just discovered the right calorie level for you by accident. Roll with it, and smile!

Oh, and I definitely don't go to the dentist like I should either. I probably haven't bene to one in about 3 years until recently. See, in about December, my tooth started hurting, but only when I ate chewy or sticky things like candy, so I just avoided those foods. But more recently, it started hurting even when eating like pasta or pizza--normal foods that aren't chewy or hard or sweet--so I finally caved, and that's what lead to the discovery of my broken filling that needed to be replaced. They said I have another cavity that needs to be filled, to, but I don't want to go back to do it!!

Jill, thanks, you helped me to schedule a dentist appt today! I tend to forget to do these things, it's probably been well over two years since I've been, better go and do that, and make an eye appt, so I can see the blackboard this semester!

ok, ladies, let's keep it moving! LOSERS!!!!

I'm going to go ahead and make that dentist appt today too Jill, on my lunch break. I haven't had them cleaned in a year, and last time I had them cleaned I had a bunch of cavities to be filled but didn't do it b/c it would have been nearly $500 (the dentist was primarily cosmetic and start-up to boot, so I think she was throwing some stuff in there I didn't really need...). So, hopefully the new dentist I've chosen will have a payment plan! LOL
