I bought one of the tiny new iPod Shuffles 2 weeks ago and it is the absolute best thing to happen to my workout, hands down.

I try to mix it up-- a lot of dance (Madison Ave, Madonna), some pop (Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson), rap (Outkast, Beastie Boys) and rock (New Found Glory, Garbage). The variety helps me step it up and vary my pace!

Another (guilty) Britney fan while working out. I love jump-roping to Ashlee Simpson's LaLa and all those Jock Jams songs get me pumped especially C'mon and Ride It (The Train). I listen to my MP3 player whenever I run and usually download new tunes once a week to mix things up. For my walks I use audio books that I only listen to while walking so it's a good incentive to get out there and do it.

I like to work out to loud, rock, alternative, angry music. It seems the louder and angrier the music is the more I work out. Yesterday it was "I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace. Other days it's Bush, Silverchair, Staind, etc. I have an mp3 player with over 900 mp3s on there so there's a lot to choose from. I think I should make playlists on there like: "Angry" "Happy" "Energy" "Sad" etc. hehe.

Evanescence and Mudvayne motivate me the most. Anytime Mudvayne comes on my MP3 player, I start to jog instead of walk... you just have to! And most of the songs on my Evanescence cd are longer, so it's kinda like an endurance pusher. Crank up the elevation on the treadmill and push really hard for the whole song. That's all I got for now.

I agree with all the angry music. Why is that I wonder? Is it all the violence and power scenes in movies when this musics playing? And I also like the Jock Jam CD's. It makes me think of cheerleaders. Which is kinda counterproductive, but it keeps me movie. Go figure.
