Well I have been sticking to my challenge (mostly... didn't do pilates nor walk much today nor yesterday). I think that I will lose the 10 lbs but am not sure. I weigh in on monday so I will have a better idea then what will be done or what more I have to do. Good luck all!!

Gab - I just purchased a Pilates video and find it extremely difficult to keep up with the instructor! Did you have this problem, and did it get any better??

Week One Update on loss:
(drum roll please)
I am down to 178.5, which is -6 for week one. Ahhh, water weight! :D

I'm starting to get a hang of eating the right things. I think when I don't actually try (like when I'm not religiously writing things down and concentrating on it) I do better. But, whenever I ate out or at someone else's house, I didn't eat very well. I've really gotta focus on not eating food because it's in front of me. That's my goal this week is to control my portions, I will not go out to lunch and I will measure out things I eat that aren't fruits or veggies.

Samantha, I have that problem still. I can't get through everything but I have only been doing it every other day for that past 2 weeks. It has gotten better and hopefully by the end of this week I can do it all. It is hard though. My abs aren't strong and mine concentrates on the abs so it still makes me sore the next day. Keep working at it and you will get it.

Hey is it okay if I start a week late? I just found the site.
I would like to lose eight pounds by Halloween!

gabwill 09-20-2004 12:58 PM

Well did my weigh in today and lost 2 lbs. That is a great thing!

Samantha2002 09-21-2004 01:40 PM

Well guys, I have some news!!!! Today when I jumped on my scale, I weigh 265!!!!!!! I was thinking about modifying my goal for Haloween to lower, but I am thinking since I am only 3 weeks into my diet, these first 15 lbs will come off fast? Is that true? I will modify my goal if next week I am at 260. Maybe I will weigh 250 by Halloween? OMG I can't wait! I am going to go walk! I am too excited!

jenicra 09-21-2004 02:18 PM

Way to go Samantha - the weight really "falls off" so to speak for most people during the first 1-2 weeks. It'll probably slow down pretty soon, but don't get down about it. Obviously, you're doing awesome, and if you keep it up I have no doubt that you'll surpass your goal!

Samantha2002 09-21-2004 02:54 PM

jenicra - thank you for your encouragement - I am confused, though, because, I have lost 15 lbs, but I do not look any different, and my pants to not fit any better. When do you start to notice a difference? I haven't weighed this much since 2002, and I was noticably smaller then. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong???

A question

I was just wondering if there was a good way to get rid of water weight? Also if there are some ways to help boost metabolism without taking pills, I dont want to go that way.

Tye

In answer to your question, I always read that "water weight" was actually salt that your body was holding, and the way to get rid of water weight was actually to drink more water! I have read in many different places that you should take your body weight and drink 1/2 oz per pound. For example, I weight 265 so I should drink 132.5 oz of water a day. Try that.

Thank you so much for the tip samantha! I am going to work on drinking all that water starting tonight and see how I do! I am getting really excited about all the new things that I am learning from this site.

Tye - you're welcome. I know that you said that you don't want to use pills to boost your metabolism, but I have always been taking Ginseng to get me up. It is a totally natural herb, and I have never heard anything bad about it - although if anyone has, PLEASE let me know. I agree with you somewhat, though, because you definitely want to stay away from anything with ephedrine in it. I had a friend that ended up in the hospital after taking just one. My grandmother is a nurse and said that she used to see young adults in the hospital all the time because their heart would beat so fast after taking ephedrine that they almost had heart failure. So whatever you do, be careful.

Well today I did my taebe, walked a mile, ran a mile, and did circuit training. I also cleaned the garage out so that me and my husband could put up the treadmill. That was a workout in itself. I do love it though and am loving working out. That is a wonderful thing being that I need to to get rid of this extra weight.

Samantha- way to go on the 5 more lbs. I wish I could lose that in a week but can't so will take it slower. Also, that is a new way to put the water intake. I didn't know that. I guess I will have to up my daily intake a bit. Thanks for that post.
