This is going to be great
I am so proud of everyone who is working on this challenge...especially Megan! She has been kicking my butt in the workout area so I need to step it up in that department for myself. I am a little worried about the holidays....I am already thinking of pumpkin pie and all the fun stuff, so I think that once thins challenge is done maybe some of you would like to participate in a Thanksgiving and Christmas challenge to help me stay motivated along with Megans help.
But again, I am getting ahead of myself and I am just excited that if I do what I want on this challenge I will be half way to my goal! Good luck all! Tye |
Welcome aboard Megan, skinned knees and Lexi!
I finished Day 3 on plan without a hitch. It's sooo nice to be back on plan! |
New also!
I am a 20-something, for another year anyway. Can I join?;)
I love the idea of a short term goal since I am just starting off. I am going to set my Halloween goal at 10 pounds. I got some good suggestions about not snacking and my husband is getting up with me before school to do some walking. I think the challenge is a great idea. Is that done often? LSB - welcome to our challenge. Congrats on the willpower to get up early to walk! I am glad that your husband is willing to do that with you! Having a good support system at home really is key. Please share your suggestions about not snacking. :)

Well, tonight is my weigh-in and I'll post my results tonight when i get home. I am right now washing my same shorts and T-shirt I wore last week. I dont' want to take the chance of wearing something different and it reflect on my loss.. or gain.. LOL. I will be happy if I've maintained, ecstatic if I've lost. My TOM as well. I still feel pretty confident about my weight loss efforts, although Sept. 30 - Oct. 2 will be my ultimate challenge as me and my husband are going to the beach for our 5 year anniversary. If I can choose wisely when we go out to dinner I will be okay. Atleast Burger King has a salad that I love and will probably stick to that for lunch! Well, talk to everyone later.

welcome LSB - the 20 somethings board almost always has a running challenge going. I find them very motivating.

well I am new to this forum. I wouldlike to start this Halloween challenge also. I am a 22 yr old sahm of a 16 month old. I want to be 145 by halloween. That would mean about 10 lbs since my weigh in day isn't until monday I am not sure where I am now. I also want to stick to my schedule of...
Mon/Wed/Fri- run 1-2 miles, do 45 minutes of Power90 sweat tape and walk 3 miles T/th/sat- do power90 circuit training(40 min), 30 min of Taebo, 30 min pilates and 3 mile walk. sunday is just whatever walk I want and bellydancing. Also eat 5 small meals a day and drink 64 oz of water a day I have been feeling good on this schedule so that is good for me for now. Good luck toeveryone. I will let you know how today goes. |
Snacking tips
Sam wanted me to post some of the snacking tips, I received.
When I am at school all day I tend to raid the soda and snack machines. So first, I stopped bringing cash with me. If I do bring cash, I avoid ones and change so that I have to actively work to get change for the machine. By that time, the impulse is gone for awhile and I have avoided a candy bar. Second, I have gone to Sam's Club and gotten a huge package of sugarfree gum. The next thing I will have to cut back on is that, but for now, it is better than candy. Also, I started carrying a water bottle in my bag so that I can drink that when I want a soda. It tends to help curb the hunger in general. The soda will be my highest hurdle. For now I am bringing my own diet soda and keeping it in the common-fridge here in the lounge. That way, if I am desperate, it is there as a last resort. I have also started bringing one extra piece of fruit I leave in my lunch bag for the afternoon. If I am really hungry, the fruit is better than nothing at all. (Carrot sticks are great for this.) At home, there is no chips, cookies, candy, etc. at all. I love dill pickles, so I have started getting jars of baby dills for snacking. They are zero calories! :D I hope that was somewhat helpful, this is the first time I have actively tried to lose weight, so I am looking for any other pointers you all might have. LSB p.s. has anyone tried Curves? |
Thanks
Thanks for the snacking tips! They are great. I also try to brush my teeth when I want to snack because nothing tastes good right after you brush your teeth.
I have been to curves and I really liked it, I just quit because it was too much money for me and I moved out of the city and it was too far of a drive to motivate myself to drive into town, workout, drive home to clean up, and then drive back into town to do the things I wanted to do. When I went to curves I lost a good amount of weight and I felt really good about myself and I knew that when I was there I never had to worry about how I looked or some super skinny girl in there who thought that she was too fat. It is a very nice place and a great comfort zone for someone who is self concious about working out (me!). Hope this helps Tye |
How is everyone doing on your goals???? I haven't officially weighed in yet (I don't call it official until Tuesdays) but I have been doing my best, and still no cokes or fried foods for me!!!
|
Saturdays are my weigh in days and I have not lost any this week but I have stayed the same and I am happy with the fact that I havent gained. I am proud of you for staying with your goals samantha! That is fantastic. One of my problems is that I snack all day at work, it is hard being around freshly prepared food all day long, and I have gone all week without doing so, just two more days left of my work week and hopefully I can keep my self control.
Good luck everyone! Tye |
So far so good...
:cp: I am doing well so far, I think.
I don't have classes on Fridays so I work all day. The closest food to work is McDonald's. I looked through the nutrition information here to see what I could get that would be healthier than my #2 with no pickles ;) After reading through that list I did a map quest for the nearest Subway! This weekend I am doing loads of grocery shopping so that I can take more lunches. I have to find things that are simple/quick to make. I have been making a conscious effot to eat breakfast. I got egg-white egg beaters and started making omelettes with ff shreaded chedder, peppers and onions. YUM! I am still doing well on the water. No regular soda so far. I have realized after reading through various thread here, that it is really one good choice at a time. So, my goal everyday is to be able to say I made the best choices. I am going to do tae bo this evening when I need a break from studying. Sound like everyone is doing well- keep it up! Thanks so much for the info on Curves. I have a gym at school I can use for free, but that would mean sharing it with the 98lb. undergraduate 18 yr. olds. No thanks! :) |
Week One check-in:
1200-1600 calories/day - doing very well with this - on target everyday this week 2-3 L's of water/day - doing better but still below goal about half the time 300 minutes (5 hours) of exercise/week - I snuck in 320 minutes of exercise this week and it feels awesome! and a positive attitude - so far so good, it's really nice to have the dh working on this with me, I hope he'll keep it up too - either way, there's no stopping ME! I'll weigh-in tomorrow morning for my final week 1 loss tally... I'm thinking I'll be about the same as my Wednesday weigh-in, maybe just a tad lower. |
I'm a brand new user as well! Great idea for the Halloween challenge. I weigh 153 now, I think I'm going to shoot for 144 by Halloween. That's gonna be tough! But I hope I can do it!!!!
