For me, it's definitely tomatoes!! I love the things! And, thank goodness, they're healthy! My obsession with tomatoes started when I was three, and I would eat them right of the vine from the garden. My parents would find me with red juice all over!
I like a lot of food. (Obviously. I wouldn't need to lose weight if I didn't!!) But, I just don't think I could watch a bunch of other people around me eat home-grown fresh tomatoes and not take at least a bite! Other foods, I think I could pass up.
Pizza. I'm talking all kinds of pizza. Regular cheese pizza. Veggie Pizza. Meat pizza. Thin crust. Thick crust. Deep dish. Buffalo chicken pizza. Greek pizza with spinach, feta, tomato and black olive. White pizza. Chicken and broccoli pizza. Oh, the list could go on. I pretty much believe that you could put ANYTHING on a crust and melt some cheese on top and it would be fantastic.
That being said, I have really tried to make 'healthier' pizzas for myself at home. That way I can monitor how it is made and what it is made with. I make my own crust in the breadmaker and use about half of a normal crust. I roll it out very, very, very thin and cook on my pizza stone. I try to top it with LOTS of veggies (spinach, tomato, mushroom, artichoke...) and sprinkle some low fat cheese on top. It does the trick for me... I get to eat something I really love plus fit in a bunch of veggies. I also try to throw on a bit of lean protein (chicken) if I have enough calories left for the day.
At the moment, I'd have to say cereal. I eat cereal for breakfast nearly every day, and often have a small bowlful for a nighttime snack, too! It's funny, because when I was NOT living a healthy lifestyle, I DIDN'T like cereal as a snack (I don't know, maybe it wasn't *decadent* enough for me or something???). (-; Now, I LOVE IT!
My faves are: Wheaties, Smart Start, Life, Golden Grahams, Kashi GoLean Crunch, Honey Nut Chex, Grapenuts....obviously I could go on & on! But cereal is the BEST!
This one is easy....hands down my favorite food is peanut butter! I LOVE peanut butter. I could eat it at every meal. I also prefer natrual peanut butter with just plain old pureed peanuts and salt! MMMMM! Plus, it tastes good and contains good fat! I know it has a lot of calories however, it keeps you full for a long time. It's worth the calories.
Campbell's soup at hand. These have been saving me the last couple weeks at school when I need some lunch. The creamy tomato is the best, pair it with 1/2 a turkey sandwich and I'm good to go. It's just too bad though their so dang expensive.
I'm with Imaxin! Pizza all the way, I can't live w/out it at least once a week or at least once every two weeks! I have been known to eat a whole pizza by myself...ARGH!!! I can't believe I just admitted to that. Leave to this board to keep you honest
I have found that the Lean Cuisin pizza is pretty ok. Its no substitute for the real thing though, but gotta keep the calorie count down.
I also love bread, french bread, jewish rye, any rye for the matter, and any bread for that matter...but I stay away from bread lately, it makes you fluffy...must have something to do w/ the yeast maybe???
spillthebeans - Yep, I've been known to polish off a pizza all by myself from time to time, so I understand. I also dig the lean cuisine french bread pizzas, although I don't eat them too often. If I really wanted to, I could probably eat 6 boxes of them in one sitting
Has anyone ever heard of Joe Corbi's pizzas that organizations sell for fund raisers? They are really popular around here, and they sell an AWESOME low fat cheese pizza with whole wheat crust. We chop up some green peppers, hot peppers and mushrooms and pile that on top and it is a really satisfying substitute for full fat/full calorie pizza.
I don't know if I have a food I couldn't live without. A few years ago I would have said Cheerios (and Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes), but after living in Europe for a year without being able to find plain Cheerios and living in a culture where cereal just wasn't the typical breakfast thing, I grew out of that one!
Although, it would be a sad, sad life if there was no cheese.
OH, dang Jen!!! You said the magic words of ..... Golden Grahams!!!! I love, love, love them! This is sad but I only get them 2 times a year, birthday and Christmas from my mom. She wraps them (no lie!!!) and that's usually my favorite present!! How sad is that??
My other thing I can't live without is chocolate.. Heehee, can I saw that without getting booted off the board?? I have one chocolate treat a week to keep cravings at bay (usu snickers or peanut m&m's)
There'll be no booting you off THIS board....I BELIEVE in chocolate! It's not *inherently* bad! (well, only in huge quantities, I guess).
I personally get in some chocolate every week....except when I'm on a no-sweets challenge, of course
the food i couldn't live without is chocolate. warm in a cookie or cold hersheys bars from the freezer...it is an addiction to me. so i probably should live without it...lol
Did someone say chocolate? I know there would be no way I could give up chocolate forever! BUT my WW leader said that we can have three tastetations (sp) candies for 1 pt!! So that has been my saviour!!
