Smile This is why you need to not give up when the scale doesn't move ;)

I would just like to share a small nsv that I've had today with you all.

My gym has a machine that will measure your weight, you BMI, your muscle mass and a whole buncha stuff that i don't really understand. The gym is also running a contest that if, from November to March, you lose a bunch of weight and gain muscle, you can win a bunch of prizes. all you gotta do is weigh yourself 3 times on that machine.

i did it the first time about mid december. today, i did it for the second time. that's about a month apart.

I actually hadn't been to the gym in about 2 weeks due to a slew of reasons, but i'd been doing my 30DS religiously everyday.

now for the last week or so, my weight had not only stalled, but gone back up a little bit, leaving me very frustrated. i knew those workouts were doing something, but i was frustrated that i didn't see the weight coming down.

well see, after i used that machine today, the staff people took a really long time to get back to be with the results and looking around for some papers, looking all flustered. finally, one guy came over, handed me a bunch of "coupons" for money, and showed me my paper. he goes, "see that number here? that's your muscle mass. it says 48.5. see where it says 40 over here? that's the ideal level it should be. last time, your number was 33. this is incredible". he looked shocked. i was kinda shocked too!

imagine. while i was away doing my 30DS and thinking that i wasn't seeing any results, i was actually getting a lot stronger!

I guess muscles really do weigh more than fat!!

I'll be a little less depressed when i don't see the scale moving from now on!

That left me in a pretty peppy mood!!

Great job! Sometimes I think the NSVs are as important as seeing the weight loss. I had to look up the 30DS -- sounds like a great tool in our journey.

That is great! Keep it up! My scale hasn't moved for a few days now and I was getting a bit sad but your story gives me back some hope!

Wow thanks for the info I'm in the same situation... at the end of the 30ds (last day tomorrow), did it everyday and yes my weight is stalling in the last week too! I tried doing extra cardio to get the numbers moving again but no effect. Knew it couldn't be that I'm not losing because everything is on plan. It makes complete sense that it's increased muscle mass because I definitely feel more fit now and my clothes are looser.

30 Day Shred, it's a workout video by Jillian Michaels. It seems to be pretty popular on this forum.

As it happens, I have just ordered the DVD on amazon. This thread inspired me and it wasn't too expensive.. at least I know if I get the same results as everyone else here, it will be worth every penny!

I definitely needed to see this today! I'm doing 30DS and have been plateau'd for a few weeks. At least something is happening!

That's really awesome! Congrats! Do you mind me asking, have you seen any change this last month in your measurements thanks to the 30DS program?
