I am so ready for February to be over, that I have preemptively decided to go ahead and start a new thread for March. February was a very difficult month for me on plan, but I am hoping it will be better as the weather starts to warm.
Today I began my fitness classes/training. I did an aqua aerobics class in the morning in which I was the youngest person by at least 20 years, and then had a pilates instructor come to my house to train me for an hour. Both made me realize I really need to work on toning/my core. Especially the pilates... I never realized how hard it is!!!!
In response to some of y'all from the last thread...
Mmel- Way to go at the buffet! It is so hard to stay on track in those circumstances, and you did so well. Congrats and be proud of yourself.
Kay- Amen for starting afresh. I had my own operation get a grip last week, and I am finally starting to feel in control again. I wish you the same! Also, way to maintain for so long! That's an accomplishment iteself.
Fill- I am so jealous of your California adventures. That area of the country is so beautiful, and I am OBSESSED with that aquarium. Funny story, I actually once visited it and didn't see a single fish (it was a terrible vacation to say the least), but a funny story now.
Ade- Your cooking has inspired me to do some of my own! If you think calorie counting is the way you should go, totally go for it. I actually count calories myself (in addition to points) on some days just to make sure I'm not overdoing it with free fruit, etc, and I have definitely learned a lot more about food choices as a result. I just hope you stick around these boards during the switch because you will be missed!!! Also, I am super jealous of your boyfriend. I've visited many places, but I love none more than Hawaii.
Unrelated, I didn't realize how many West Coasters we have in here!!!
Ade- I hope you are feeling better soon. I had the hardest time actually starting C25K. I kept telling myself for like weeks that I was going to go down to the gym and just couldn't get past that point! It was ridiculous but after I got started I kept working through it all the way to week 6 or so. I started to fall out of the routine when I got to the 20 min runs. Gotta get back in it.
Skinny- pilates can be really hard but it will give you the results you are looking for. Keep us posted on how the classes go.
Well this morning I woke up to a huge cramp in my leg. It was SO painful! I was crying and writhing in pain and trying to get my husband to help me work out the cramp but he literally just laid there! He didn't even roll over to ask me if I was OK or if he could do anything to help! I mean maybe I am overreacting. When I was a kid on vacation with my parents I got a cramp in my leg one night and before I even realized I had made any pain noises or anything my dad jumped out of bed, threw the covers off of me and worked out my leg cramp so maybe I have high expectations. but I couldn't believe he literally didn't even ask what was wrong! If I woke up to him obviously in pain I would almost be crying myself trying to figure out what is wrong and what I can do to help! I don't understand how someone could just sit there and ignore a person in pain let alone someone you love. I am actually pretty crushed that he was so not concerned.
skinny- pilates/yoga can be super hard because you're using your own body weight and using a lot of small muscles. hard stuff for sure! but like kay said, it will give you the results you want. i actually brought my yoga mat with me here, so i've been trying to do some here as well also- i can't believe i'm here either- this place is rather magical. *sigh*
ade- glad you've been posting. i find just posting here gives me a boost and helps me stay on track and just be honest with myself and you all. go for the calorie counting- i've read a lot on here that people sort of combine cc with the new ww points to kind of keep themselves in check.
kay- i'm so sorry about your leg! feeling any better? and about your husbands response...eek. sometimes men don't get it. i'm just convinced that they go into jerk mode and decide that we're "just wanting attention" and that "it's not that serious". i hope he apologized for his unkind behavior.
Thanks Fill. My leg is very sore today. I actually ended up with another cramp in the other leg in the shin muscle from my attempts to pull my toes up. I didn't even realize that leg was cramping too until I noticed I couldn't put my toe down. The first leg cramp hurt so much it totally overshadowed the second cramp. Craziness. My husband claims he did not hear me asking for help. He started getting mad saying he couldn't believe I was mad at him since I didn't "communicate" that I needed his help. So for my own future reference, blurting "HONEY! MY LEG! I have a cramp, help!" Is not communicating enough.
jeez, sorry about the pain...that sucks. epsom salt soak later?
i think if you want to get your hubby's attention, you should invest in one of those really obnoxious blow horns or megaphone things, so he can hear you next time you need his assistance.. tell him that's "proper" communication.
i normally don't believe in the tit for tat, but sometimes, you gotta be a little bit of a biatch.
Fill- I agree that I usually don't even bother with the little miscommunications, why make it a big deal, but with this one it's more like I can't believe him. I am not mad at him, I am literally crushed that my other half isn't the kind to even concern himself with my pain. I mean I am really blown away by that. I can't help feeling like he was just thinking Shut up already so I can get back to sleep!
Kay - That is so random, I had leg cramps last night too... maybe not enough potassium? I ate a banana today, and am going to start incorporating them as a daily snack with some PB (YUM!). They're 0 P+, so hey, why not? I think maybe the cramps were from the exercise. If it makes you feel any better, I told mine the same thing, and he said "So what do you want me to do about it?"
Ade - Good luck with getting back into the C25K program! I admire people who run, I don't like it. I love how sporty and fit people who run look, but it just hurts me too much...
skinnycow - Amen to February being OVER!!! Yay for a new month!
Kay- SI used to get horrible cramps in the night, and they totally suck. I hope they get better!!!
Today I am sore from pilates/the power yoga I did in the morning. Now I am watching the BL and wondering why these ppl never seem to be sore. On my best days I work out for 2 hours, and I can barely move! How can they be working out 6 hours a day? Ridiculous.
misstraveller- Calcium is a big part of the nocturnal leg cramps too. I have been cutting cheese out of my died and yogurt is pretty much the only other dairy product I work in anymore so I bet that is my problem.
Skinny- hang in there, your tolerance will build up quickly!
skinny & kay- i'm with misstraveller on this- bananas baby! they do help tremendously, for me. i would eat them as my post work out snack with peanut butter (yum!) or with yogurt. i always do wonder how people on the weight loss shows never seem to be sore. i mean, i know logically, they are, but they seem to power through. i'm too much of a wuss to do so.
also, while i'm on biggest loser, i'm not a big fan, but i watch here and there, and i can't begin to comprehend WHY they keep kaylee on!!!! sorry. last night's episode was type annoying. sigh.
So today is my Birthday. (not posting this for attention ) I have exactly 1 year to get to my goal. If I can find some sort of work out I can do...I don't think I'll have a problem...I just have to get FOCUSED.
Well, we went out to dinner with some of my friends this past Saturday. I think Fri. night we may go out to dinner just the two of us. Sat. my mom is planning a little party with our immediate family.
Today has been insane for me at work. I would love to go home, bust out a bottle of wine and just check out!!! But tonight is my weekly dinner with my vegetarian friend so no such luck... which is probably a good thing. Anyway this is the first chance I have had to chillax a little bit and actually check my email, 3FC, the news... etc. Ugh what a day.
