When I was around 210 pounds I was a solid 16, and could barely squeeze into 14s. I wore some L but mostly XL tops. At 230, I was an 18, 250 a 20, 270 a 22, some XL tops but mostly 2X...right now I could probably be a 24 but I wear 22s anyway, haha. At my heaviest, which only lasted about 6 months, I was a 26 (somewhere I NEVER want to be ever again)! I think I wore something like a 36 or 38C when I was my lightest at 210? Now I'm a 42D hahaha.
Even at my highest weight I didn't go over a size 17/18. I am actually out of the 15/16's I have been wearing lately but I refuse to buy 13/14's until I am in the 160's.
I went from a size 14 to a size 9 from dropping only 25 pounds I believe. I'm still in size 9 jeans then again I haven't bothered to go shopping for any other clothing. My work pants are a size 12 and they are way too big, the back side hangs down really low now, but my work place can't get me proper fitted clothing anyways so I have to wait until I feel like coughing out 50 bucks for a pair of new work pants.
it took me about 15lbs to go from a size 10 to a size 8...i'm still there now..i'm guessing to go down to a size 6 it will probably be about 12-15lbs again...but i have wide hips, a big booty, and a lot of tummy fat so it takes a lot for me to drop a pant size. i always lose weight in my face, arms, and boobs first.
im almost down 20 pounds and im still at a 16. but to be fair i havent really gone out and shopped for jeans, as Im too scared to see the results. lol.
If it wasn't for vanity sizing, I'd have a much better idea...
Bottom: I generally agree with the 10 lb rule. I'm a comfortable size 12 (bottom) from 170-180. I can squeeze into them until around 188 though.
Top: I don't gain as much in my chest. I'm a 38C (middle hook) right now. I'd likely have to be in my 160s before I'm the middle hook on a 36C. (and I hope I don't drop into the B's!)
I suppose it really depends mostly on how much a person has to lose.
I think it depends on body shape, the pants (because sizing is crazy) and how you like them to fit. It took me 10-15lbs to go down to a size 14. Some things I could wear sooner than others.
I currently have two pairs of 10's that zip and button. I should be able to wear them again in another 10lbs but that doesn't mean I could wear all size 10's. I don't have any 12's so I'll have to buy something. I must have skipped that size when I ballooned?
I lost 24 pounds last summer and only dropped one pant size. I am very curvy and my hips are big so I guess instead of losing more sizes, my clothes just hang on my hips.
I live in sweatpants lately.
I go to class in sweats, and I have one pair of jeans (that are starting to get too big) and two pairs of dress pants.
It's extremely expensive buying new clothes all the time, and I try so hard to wear my clothes, even though they're "big", but I hate looking sloppy all the time.
Another thing is that the pair of jeans that I currently have are 18's, and I don't even remember ever being a 16, so I think that's one of the reasons why I've waited to buy a new pair. And jean shopping is just frustrating in general!
