Default Type of Scale You Like to Use

I'm thinking about getting a new scale. I currently have a pretty cheap one. It does its job, but I've been thinking about a more expensive one (maybe one that measures body fat and other fun things of the sort).

Any suggestions for me? What type of scale do you like to use?

I just use the cheap one. Those fancy scales seem to break or at least whenever I step on those scales at other peoples houses they don't work haha.

i use an old fashioned one and wii board. i prefer the reg. one, because it just gives me the basics. i'm somewhere between..180 and 185. i can see maybe i'm 182, 183, but i can't get hung up on the 1/10th of a pound increments. that's good because when i do want to weigh myself frequently, i lose interest fast since it's saying the same numbers over and over. and some of the blips from water or whatever fluctuations, i don't even see since it's giving just a general- yes you're doing well, no, go exercise! feedback. so in my case less specific info is better. but i can see why digital scale with bf % and stuff would sound cool.

I just use my old cheap one and a tape measure. On the weeks my scale doesn't move much I always measure myself to keep motivated. ; )

I have the EatSmart scale and we love it so far, though I have a different one than the one posted above.

I don't know I don't think it's worth the money especially these days everything fancy seems to be made crappy anyways...but it's totally up to you.

I have a pink dial scale at home that I got from Target for like $15 . . . I like that it has big black lines at the 10-lbs and in-between the verdict is basically like, you're getting closer, or farther, and it's not, as someone else said, 1/10-pound increments that will drive you crazy.

That said, the house I'm currently in (I house-sit a few times a year for this family) has a doctor's scale. It's the kind with the height measurer and the slide-y weights. That is a lot of fun to use, and I'd imagine pretty accurate. You get to put the big weight on the bottom down a notch every 50 pounds and it goes ka-chunk very satisfyingly.

I have a Tanita digital scale that goes to 1/10th of a lb and can do body fat%. It's been like 7-10 years? Still working fine. Before that I had a cheapie spring scale and it started to btoher me because it was suddenly all over the place. But that one didn't go crazy til we moved here... and we had that one like... 6 years?

I don't think it much matters, just that you expect the cheapies to poop out faster than the slightly more expensive ones.

HTH!
A.

i have one of these too. i used to have a homedics digital one, but the readings where always all over the place. i like the body fat % and body water % cuz it tells me if im retaining water, and i chose tanita because it has a good reputation for the long term.

I might have to check one of these out. I would really like to see how much water I'm retaining.
