Default Peanutbutter Craze!!

OK this is probably going to seem like a stupid post but here goes lol

I always heard how good peanutbutter is for getting your "good fat". I never ate it becuase I thought I could get better use out of the calories and fat. Well I broke down one day and tried it and now I LOVE IT! Problem is, now I want to binge on it all the time. So how much is too much? I have been trying to control myself by having 2 tbsp at breakfast and 2 tbsp at dinner. lol thats hard to control. But 4 tbsp of peanutbutter is 300 calories and 24g of fat!!!

So how much is too much?

I limit myself to 1, 2 max if it's a meal. It's good for you (the all natural kind, at least), but it's SO many calories for not a lot of food. But I love it and find it most satisying with a sliced apple. If I just eat it by itself I'm much more likely to go back for more.

Dianne, I canNOT keep it in my house. I just attack it with a spoon and go to town.

But 1-2 tsp isn't bad. Its usually my go-to snack if I'm starving before bed. I just have a tsp of peanut butter and that seems to satiate me. The problem is keeping it to just 1 because its SO TASTY.

if you take those 1-2 spoonfuls and put them into a cup of cooked and warm and creamy oatmeal....it tastes like you're eating an entire bowl of PB and its delightful. My dietitian taught me this when I was pregnant!

You can opt for buying a natural/organic PB and its a bit more healthy for you as they don't add extra oils as I think regular PB adds extra oils.

I only let myself do the PB-oatmeal 2-3x a week because I tend to uh...want to put more than 1-2 spoonfuls in.....but it quenches my PB crave-appetite And it really is a really nice alternative to putting sugar or milk in the oatmeal. My kids LOVE it too

Ive never really liked oatmeal, but then again I never liked healthy food until now. So maybe I will try that! I've learned I dont have good willpower to say no when the bad food is always in my kitchen. Its like a little demon takes over my brain and I just eat and eat! hehe So I will just stop buying!

PB is also good spread on a warm piece of whole wheat toast. The PB gets melty. mmmm....

I haven't tried these yet, but they seem like they would be good. They are South Beach Phase 1 friendly
Peanut Butter Mini Cheesecakes
8 oz. LF Cream Cheese [softened]
1 large Egg
1 & 1/2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
4 packets Splenda (or other granular artificial sweetener)
4 Tablespoons All Natural Peanut Butter

Mix all ingredients and blend for about 5 minutes.
Line muffin pan with muffin cups
Fill with mixture
Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes.

You can also melt a SF fudgesicle in the microwave (in a bowl), add a tsp of PB and then re-freeze it. Its like a frozen Reese Cup.

I think in this "dieting" journey, its important to find healthy things that you love (makes it less like a diet). You do have to limit PB, but it is also good for you at the same time. So as with everything else, continue to eat it in moderation.

It is like you read my mind and typed this post for me. I only eat the natural PB (salt and peanuts only). I too have put it in oatmeal to stretch it and it is oh soooooo good.

I had a strange obsession with PB when I was a kid, even my family thought it was super weird.
I hated salad dressing so my parents would just put like 2 stalks of lettuce on my plate, with the jar of PB and a spoon and I would go to town. I would eat it on everything, and even just by itself. It was never the healthy PB though, cuz I thought that was gross (seriously.. oil separating.. no thanks)
I can't have the unhealthy stuff in the house because I will still eat it with a spoon, and I don't get the same satisfaction with the healthy stuff so it works well that I can limit because I don't enjoy it as much.
Just make sure you're having the natural stuff (the ingredients should be just peanuts)

Glad to know I'm not the only crazy person when it comes to Peanut Butter....YUM! I would put a little on my english muffin for breakfast....and then a little extra on my spoon, while I thought I liked it...my hips and thighs certainly didn't!

I had to put peanut butter on my "no no" list because I can't limit myself to one spoonful in oatmeal or something. It's one of those things that I just can't use it in moderation when there's a huge jar of it staring at me.

The only time I have peanut butter is if I get an apple pack at my convenience store. It comes with a pack of peanut butter, so it's a great treat for me.

They do have single serving packs now. So you could consider one pack your daily serving. Split the pack in half. One half for breakfast and the other half for dinner.

I am def going to add it to my no no list. But I can't stand the idea of waisting money and throwing away a full container. Last one promise!

Samantha, on average, how many calories are you eating a day to lose weigh?
