OMG I can't WAIT for this week to be over! I am drowning at work (I am taking a much needed 15 minute break by visiting you guys). :) Since I got back from vacation I was greeting with hundreds of emails, a large pile of work (why I have a backup person is beyond me since she doesn't do much of anything), I was put on a testing project that was expected to be done Tuesday, AND I am covering for a co-worker who is out most of this week. AHHHHHHHH! I just finished my test project and I am caught up on my emails so I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel but geesh!

I have been having a horrible week as far as plan goes. There is still 1/2 a chocolate cake and a container and a half of ice cream leftover from my bday. :(

How are you all doing?

Ade- have fun tomorrow! and Happy early birthday.

abluvion- happy early birthday to you as well.

Zan- good luck with that roommate! Sounds scary. lol living with men seems hard enough let alone a 46 yo presumably single man! LOL

zanheltangia 08-25-2010 02:03 PM

Wah! Is there any way you can pass the leftovers off to someone else, Ab? I'm a fan of talking friends or family into taking them, too dangerous for it to be in my fridge, I cannot even keep those WW ice cream 1 pt bars without going through the entire box, haha. 6 empty points (though I imagine it is actually a bit more than that) are better than some other damage I could get into, but why keep the temptation sitting in the fridge, right? I hope that "end of the tunnel" is close, so that you can coast through friday and enjoy your weekend!

First place I stayed was with a late-twenties married couple. Second was with a pair of gay men about my age 24-ish. This time I've had a pair of roommates (lady and guy) about my age, so it might be a bit odd to have an older guy as a roommate, but as long as he's cleaner than the guy we have now, we will get along just fine, ha! I haven't had a problem yet, and I basically keep to myself, so we'll see.

What are you taking, Ade?

ade903 08-25-2010 02:23 PM

I'm a Geography major....so I'm taking Urban Geography, land use and planning, Canada and US Geography, and...hmm....some other geography class, oh The Urban Scene. And then a GE class, Human Sexuality (more like sex ed, not like gender studies stuff). So 5 classes, gonna be interesting.

LuckyDVL 08-25-2010 03:21 PM

Hi all :) Pretty new to 3FC! I'm totally excited to have found this site. I don't have a lot of real-world support for my WL journey but I have been lurking here and you guys seem like just what I needed!!

I'm on my third go-round of WW. I tend to get pretty close to goal and then get sidetracked by massive school/work stress. I'm learning though... Planning my strategies well in advance and I'm feeling good about this time!

I have a personal goal of being Lifetime by January 1st and a "maybe" goal of competing in a bikini competition next June.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in, say hi, and report that I have been back on-plan for 2 weeks and I am down 0.4 lbs this week. I'm quite pleased as I have really struggled to keep within my points, with all that summer camping and good times... and by "struggled", I mean "fought valiantly and lost, but not by much" lol :)

So, hi!! :carrot:

kcx 08-25-2010 05:34 PM

Happy birthday, ab and ade! :woo:

ade: Claim Jumper has some REALLY delish food, but yeah, you are right that it can be super bad for a dieter. That's one of those restaurants that it is a must to go in with a plan. I remember getting some the chocolate chip calzone...sure, I didn't eat it by myself, but I just looked it up and it has 1800 cals and 51 grams of fat! I did however eat those delicious red velvet cupcakes by myself every time I went there, and those are 800 cals and 11 grams of fat! :faint: It's pretty great they have the nutritional info; a lot of sit down restaurants don't do that.

As for me, I realized I should be eating one point less, which is exciting and not as scary as I thought it would be. I went on an hour walk today and found a park that I actually used to go to as a kid in daycamp is right down the street from my house! They have a nice big, beautiful walking path there. That walk got me back about 3.5 points, but I don't think I'm going to eat them, just let them be so I (hopefully) get a bigger number next weigh in. We are going to Florida at the end of Sept. and I'd like to be at least 10 lbs smaller (though 15 would be GREAT :D).

abluvion 08-26-2010 09:23 AM

Zan - I hope your roommate is kind, quiet, and clean. That's the best you can hope for :) Bad roommates make life SO hard!

ade - Geography sounds interesting! Do you want to do city/urban planning, or surveying, or what ultimately? I have a friend who did geography and returned to her hometown outside Toronto and immediately started doing city planning and is now making more than all of us :p Good luck!

Also, you guys totally made me happy I do not know what Claim Jumper is. Holy cow.

KayNicole - it's Thursday! Almost there! Sounds like you are swamped! I'm not letting my boyfriend make/buy me a cake this year, I do not want that thing sitting in the fridge for me to consume. Can you trash the rest of the cake?

LuckyDVL - :welcome: Hi! Welcome to 3FC! A bikini competition eh? That sounds cool  Congrats on the loss this week!

kcx - Oooh I hate dropping points. I get used to a routine at a point value then suddenly I have to change it... not a fan! But I'm glad you handle it well. I rarely eat APs either. Where are you going in Florida? Hopefully the weather is still gonna be hot for you!!

As for me - there's a YMCA just down the road, within walking distance. It's seriously not even a half mile away. I've passed it a number of times, idly wondering about it and today I decided to look up the website for it to see what they offered. Dude! It's a totally fully equipped gym. Heated lane pool, indoor running track, machines, trainers, classes, massage (:D), sauna, everything you could want! It looks to be a fairly new facility. The best part - They have aquafit classes!! I LOVE aquafit, the most fit I've ever been was in college when I went to aquafit regularly (was still this same weight but I felt way better). Ladies I am SO excited. :twirly:

Not since college have I had a gym that meets my 3 criteria: convenient, has a pool/aquafit classes, and is affordable. It's been AGES. I wish I had checked out the Y before! I am hoping it's as nice as it seems on the outside and from the website. It's in sort of a "transitional" area of town, but it looks nice enough and I shouldn't feel uncomfortable going over there alone. I hope.

I know I'm rambling about one dang aquafit class but here's where I need you guys!! There is a class tonight after work, and I have NO reason not to go! I even shaved my legs last night :lol3: The only reason I wouldn't go is because I'm a giant wuss and am intimidated by doing things on my own, I prefer to have a buddy. But I CAN go alone, so those are not excuses!! So kick my butt if I come back here and say I haven't gone, ok? Because I need this, and I want to go! I really do! Don't let me stand in my own way!!

zanheltangia 08-26-2010 09:30 AM

Ade - Geography? Cool! Have you taken any of the GIS courses? I really want to get into that. :D Good luck on your classes!

:welcome: Lucky! I get you on the "real-life support" problem. My friends and most of my family is like "meh." Completely uninterested. :( But heck, I'm not doing it for them anyway, haha! Bikini comp? Wow! Kudos to you, that'd be different, ;). Congrats on the .4 lb loss, that's great!

Those are some scary dishes, KCX! I'm just happy that I skipped out on the red velvet cupcakes this weekend. Though I went back for seconds for the homemade potatoe salad (mmmmm) I had points for it, so that worked. ;)
Grats on the walk and for lossing the point! I find that as I go down that I don't really miss them if it means I continue to lose, :p Where in FL are you heading, ;).

Ab - I have my fingers crossed the the roommate thing. Did you make it to the aqua class??? C'mon, inquiring minds must know! :D

Happy Thursday! The weekend is near, Woohoo!

abluvion 08-26-2010 09:36 AM

the class is in 8.5 hours :) still way too early to say!

zanheltangia 08-26-2010 10:02 AM

Hm. That may be... Night class? I was doing the math before I even thought of timezones,

kcx 08-26-2010 11:26 AM

I'm heading to disneyworld! I've been there several times, but not for about 2-3 years now. I'll be going with my parents and then another family with little kids so there will be lots of exercise and running around! I'm going to try to stay on program as best as possible, but I know that I will indulge because, heck, it's vacation and I'll be working out a lot!

zanheltangia 08-26-2010 11:55 AM

Ah yes, Disney.

Have fun, KCX!

:D

ade903 08-26-2010 01:38 PM

Morning!
So TOM decided to visit (thank god lol), but this is my first period w/o being on the pill in several years. It's awful. Cramps. Bloating. The works. It'll be interesting to see how this effects my weigh in tonight. But I'm prepared for it and that just means next week there will be a woooooosh to look forward to.

ab-I'm not sure what I want to do. Initially I chose it because I could get done in 1 and a half more years so I could move to Canada to be with my boyfriend. We broke up. lol. But I love it! I'll figure out what I want to do eventually...

zan-I did take GIS last semester. The prof was brutal, but I learned so much. it was really neat, but not the road I'm taking (could revisit in the future). I'm more interested in Human Geography, which is more like anthropology.

kcx-I have two plans for Claim Jumper. And if those fail, I'll have my points calculator to figure out something else! Oh and have fun! I hadn't been to Disneyland in years, then in November I got an annual pass, so I've been 10 or so times this year. Lots of fun! Yay for exercise!

Happy weekend (for me!). Off to my parent's for my little sister's birthday!

KayNicole 08-26-2010 01:41 PM

abluvion- I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! I had the biggest mental block when it came to going down to our clubhouse workout room. I don't quite get why our brains just convince us it's better/easier not to go. I hate that feeling! You can do it though. That first trip is always the hardest and then it just gets easier and easier. You will feel so much better with every completed class! :D

LuckyDVL- Welcome!! and you should totally go for the bikini competition! Even if just for fun and the fact that you can say you did it!

kcx- Yay Disney! My parents are retired and work seasonally down there. They love it and the grandkids love that they are there! lol Can't wait to have my own little ones to take to visit Grandma and Grandpa and the big mouse.

Well I wanted to share my experience with my cake and ice cream on my actual birthday... My husband asks if I wanted some ice cream with my sliver of cake and I reply "eehhhh, I guess but just a little". He returns with a plate mounded with ice cream. I totally spazzed. My response was OMG!! what if I had said I wanted a lot!? And I KNOW he wants me to lose weight so WTF? I tooke two bites before huffing off to bed. :( This was all my fault, I know that. I was already on edge about even eating the cake and if I had just said no from the beginning I would have avoided the entire thing. :/ oh well. I like the idea of no cake. I need to find something to replace my cake for bday celebrations. I don't even really like cake all that much. I am going to tell my husband tonight that I am going to pitch it if he doesn't eat it. I am not having another bite. lol

zanheltangia 08-26-2010 01:47 PM

Wow, back to back birthdays. :dizzy:

I want to get a certificate in GIS sooooo bad, but I am sticking it out at my current temp job until something breaks. I need what little the work experience I'm getting now with ArcMap so that when/if I go back to school for a degree and that certificate, I'll actually have something that might be useful to put on a resume with it. Too bad the competition is so fierce in the job force right now and I've got no career path here. :( Ah well, ;).

Go Kay!!! Yeah, it might be tough to find something to replace it, but I don't regret going cakeless myself. There are far too many other things that can replace it than to go for something you aren't crazy about to begin with.

WI tonight, I wanna say goodbye to that 208! I wonder if I will... :D

Hickory0305 08-26-2010 01:54 PM

Kay- my husband would have done the SAME thing, even though he fully supports my weight loss. He probably just would have assumed he would finish what I don't want. Plus, he has NO clue what portions are supposed to look like, so he would think a heap WAS a little. lol *hugs* and Happy Birthday!!
