I used to have some of that same mentality. It helped me a lot to start a graph of long-term trends (if you zoom out the daily fluctuations disappear!
) and also to think of healthy eating, exercise etc less as a means to an end (weight loss) but as a continual process, and something to stick to regardless of what I weigh. It's made it so much easier to keep going, and my sense of self-worth is much less linked to the number on the scale now.
