Default Motivation or Disappointment?

I've been cleaning out my room and have come across clothing that I've bought in anticipation for losing weight. (Off the dollar rack at work) Score! The only problem is, I'm not looking at them as things I'll be able to wear later. I'm looking at them as things I shouldn't have bought, because I'll never get into them.

I'm in a size 22/24 in bottoms, and a size 22/24 or 26/28 top, depending on the style. The clothing I bought are size 16's. It just seems so far away.

You can do this!! BUT next time you buy the on sale items, try just to buy the ones that are one size less than the size you currently wear. That way you'll fit into them faster.

And if the presence of those clothes is depressing, why not donate them to a place where they can be used right now? Don't use them as a symbol of failure.

boy do I know that feeling, but having been a yo yo with weight, I also know it's nice to have something you can fit into, and remember when you couldn't.
I say get rid of them, donate them, they seem to represent something negative or punishing to you. Forgive yourself for buying them, it's not a big deal, and when you are ready for that size, plan on treating yourself to something brand spanking new and trendy. Heck plan on doing that everytime you drop two sizes.

Guess what?! There's no reason you can't fit into those! You WILL get there! It might not be as fast as you'd like, but you'll do it. I used to be a (tight) size 20 and today I was in the store trying on size 8s! While it hasn't been incredibly fast, it is possible. I say keep the clothes as a reminder that you can never give up yourself or your goals .

If I do that, I prefer to just get clothes that fit NOW or one size smaller if the price tag is truly worthwhile. Too many sizes down takes a while to get to and meanwhile the thing is taking up space, unused.

Can you resell it and buy something still smaller but closer?

A.

First, you will be able to wear them someday. It is truly is within your reach.

I have purchased smaller clothes many times. And, I have been able to wear some of them recently! The more I lose weight, the more desperate I am for clothes that fit. I disagree with the other posters--I say hang on to the clothes; you will be glad you did!

Cheers,

J

I agree!! Hang on to those clothes, you will get into them!!!

I just did this today, I bought a pair of jeans one size smaller...they're my favorite brand and they were on sale for $20!

Try buying a few cheap in-between pairs, it helps to motivate (well me anyways) when you can fit into the smaller clothes!
