I've seen something that said you should only weigh once a week. Then i read something that said you should weigh every day. How often do you weigh? I try to weigh once a week but i sneek in a extra weigh in from time to time.
i weigh myself every morning, but thats because if i dont, i agonize over what the scale might have said. If i don't know my weight in the morning than im constantly filled with thoughts of "what if" what if i gained a bunch? what if i lost a bunch? what if i could have seen a good number today, but will instead see a bad number tomorrow?
stuff like that?
its better for me to just weigh myself in the morning and then be done with it. it is what it is, and i dont have to think focus on that number again for another 24 hours.
other people dont like seeing the number because weight fluctuates so much that by just weighing once a week you will get a better sense for the overall trend verses every day where you will see it jump up and down by a couple pounds depending on what you ate the day before etc.
I weigh every day as a way to keep me accountable. When I weighed once a week I'd eat terribly on my weigh-in day (I weigh in the morning) and the few days after, then be "extra- good" the days before my weigh in. This didn't work well. So I switched to every day, because I know if I have to get on that scale every morning I'm going to behave. It also helps me see what's going on with my body - too much salt, not enough water or fiber, etc.
I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it - find what works best for you and go with that
I weigh every day to keep myself accountable. I don't worry about the day to day fluctuations though and I only "count" my weigh in once a week. This wont work for everyone for sure but it works for me
I used to weigh once a week. I would get so stressed out with the "what will thr magic scale tell me this week?" I now weigh daily, but it only "counts" once a week. That way I can keep an eye on how I'm doing and the end result isn't such a shocker.
I weigh once a week. I was getting frustrated weighing daily and getting -0.02 oz weight losses. I'd rather see -pounds then little ounces here and there even though I know they add up to the pounds.
For me it really depends on how close to a goal I am. Last week I weighed every day because I was waiting for the door to the 180s to open. Typically, I weigh only twice a week. Once on Sunday and then on Wednesday which s my "official" weigh day.
It really depends on what works for you. I find it discouraging to see the fluctuation every day... so I try to do it half way into the week and then the other half.
You have to see if it keeps your accountable or if it hinders your weigh loss journey.
I weigh in every day. This used to be a problem for me, and I would get discouraged when I would fluctuate up half a pound. But I track my food on a spreadsheet (neurotic much?) and like to keep my morning weight there too. It's just nice to see the downward trend, and I can also keep better track of how my diet/exercise affects my gain/loss. I've recently started looking at my sodium, and can tell by the spreadsheet that when I have a lot of sodium, my weight fluctuates up almost a pound the next day.
I think it's okay to weigh every day, but only if you can tell yourself that your weight WILL fluctuate from time to time, and can keep from being discouraged by this.
i weigh every day if i have changed something about my diet, just to make sure i wasn't losing too much or none at all. but if i haven't changed anything, which i don't plan on doing again, then i weigh every week.
