Who's going to eat it? Who's going to avoid it?
I am heading to my Grandmas for a late lunch she will make a TON of food. Ham, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, macaroni/tuna salad, bread, there will be a veggie tray! ... I can't remember what else
She also buys a ton of candy and puts it all out on a table for everyone .... and then when it's time to leave she practically forces you to fill a baggy and take it home.
So since we are eating at 3 ... I'll probably wait until then to eat. I had breakfast already. I know it's not good to eat such a large meal all at once but I want to save my calories plus if I eat at 12 or 1 I wont want to eat at 3 then I'll be hungry by 5 or 6 ... and I want to enjoy the good food! I just need enjoy it in moderation!
But I'm sure I will have at least a FEW pieces of Easter candy ...
My family had easter dinner yesterday (not sure why...) and I didn't eat any candy. I had a granola bar on the way there and just had a little bit of steak, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I just kept thinking about how long I would have to run to burn off the extra calories from the candy!
I plan on eating SOME candy...in fact I just munched on two Hershey Dark Chocolate Blisses (35 calories a piece) Key word is some, I don't want to feel like I'm depriving myself and I want to enjoy the holiday. My mom gave me three huge bags of all sorts of easter candy, but I already know that I'll be taking a few pieces, but leaving the rest at this house when I fly back to school tomorrow. It's just easier for me to not be tempted by entire bag to binge on.
I personally feel that as long as your not mindlessly shoveling the crap in, it's ok to treat yourself on holidays with a treat here or there...Just got to get back into your normal healthy eating habits tomorrow!
I totally had a bad Easter candy binge awhile ago... back when they put it on the shelves after Valentine's day I decided to buy a bag of those Reese's peanut butter eggs and "eat it in moderation", and of course it was gone in like 2 days.
Then I felt horrible and promised myself not to eat any more Easter candy.
My friends and I did an Easter egg hunt the other night with those plastic eggs filled with candy and I had a blast hiding eggs, AND finding them! And then we sat around like little kids sorting our candy. I had a couple little chocolate eggs, but I was proud of myself for leaving the rest of the candy for my friends.
We have a fellowship meal later today and I'm making my giant brownie dessert that I always make, but I don't think I'll eat any of that. I'm actually not feeling like sweets today so I'll bypass the desserts likely. I'll probably eat too much of the other food, though, it's okay to have a mashed potatoes and bread day every so often.
Just be strong! Eat what you like, in moderation. I can't keep the candy in my house, but I'm okay if I'm around other people.
No candy for me, although I might have one or two white chocolate square thing with dessert (strawberries and whipped cream, no whipped cream for me though) depending on how eating goes during Easter linner. It is at my mom's which means we're having mostly healthy stuff (Turkey, salad, peas, other miscellaneous veggies) but we have family friends coming too who are bringing potatoes of some kind and they'll be seriously insulted if I don't eat them. And even if I take a little and pick at it, they're the type who will comment loudly on that. So, I've got to save calories for potatoes (so they better be good).
My basic rule for meals like this is to keep it as similar to my regular dinners as possible. Just because there is candy (although my mom specifically bought none for me) doesn't mean I'm going to eat it. Like when I'm at school there is always desserts and ice cream, and I don't eat it then, so why now? That being said, I have about 600-800 calories blocked out for this meal if necessary.
Hmmm....Well, I am at school because we had a meet yesterday so I will not be going home for easter so that really limits my candy and bad food intake. Actually, family came here and just left after church to head back down South. I did get a little bit of candy as boat gifts and from my team little sister; however, I'm only tempted by chocolate and its all sugar candy. Guess that's a score. The only chocolate I did get, I tried to eat last night; however, it wasn't very good so my brain was like "why waste the calories if its not even good?". So I pitched that. Good luck to everyone who's goiing to parties/family gatherings.
But I did it without guilt. I ate what was given to me and worked it off again. Mind you we don't give each other a lot of chocolate anymore. I had a 50gm bunny from my sister and a 100gm lindt bunny from my parents - about 800 cals all up. At the gym this morning I burnt 1100 - that doesnt include what I did the rest of the weekend. So I am feeling pretty good about it all really
We also don't do a big lunch or dinner for easter, just a normal evening meal
I ate some candy and I'm NOT happy about it. I gained some water weight because of it. I'm gonna have a great work out today, and I'm putting gum next to the candy so I grab that instead of the delicious devils.
Ugh, between ham and candy I'm bloated and feeling icky. Although, I didn't splurge as much as I normally would have. I'm going home and throwing any leftover candy away. No matter how much I tell everyone I don't want candy I had gotten a lot of it. Had my weekend weakness back to business! Good luck to everyone. =)
I had a cadbury creme egg. Candy-wise I was fine, but I did enjoy a small piece of carrot cake and a small piece of cheese cake. With the desserts and how much sodium was in the food (even though I had perfect serving size amounts, mostly vegetables, and no seconds!!!!) I'm stuck with 4lbs of water retention today. Beautiful. :|
