I asked my husband to imagine himself as a single dude in this situation. He said to say something along the lines of, "hey I'm having SUPER fun with you but I can't go any further because of my monthly ok?" and then change the subject. Less descriptive is better. As for me, I am so regular I circle "the days" on the calendar with a big red marker. I like to give my poor hubby plenty of warning!! DUCK AND COVER! LOL!

About the diva cup, I tried the "keeper" (the other brand) and it was uncomfortable for me, I like the diva cup better but I had to wear it for a couple of cycles before it was 100% comfortable. I always had the occasional sharp pain with tampons, it's the whole absorbent vs collection issue. My..... pikachu (that's so cute!) does not like being dried out and the diva cup totally solves that! I had tried the "instead" cup things, but I find that they dislodge way too easily. Like with a sneeze or cough or something. Maybe it's just my shape?

Alright I just googled Diva Cup and watched the video... and of course my 16mo old daughter heard it and crawled to see what was going on. Does that count as giving her "the talk"? ;)

Wow I have NEVER heard of a diva cup. I learned something new today. :)

Every once in a while I try, but I can always 'feel' it in there, and when I sit it's a sharp pain in my pikachu.

I use pads, I'm lucky enough that my period has always been pretty light and only lasts a few days. My poor mother has fibroids and gets her TOM for almost 2 weeks, and just lays in bed in tears sometimes. She had to go to the hospital recently for a blood transfusion due to anemia from losing so much iron during her TOM.

I have the same problem and actually experienced the sharp pain when I sat today. It always happens if I don't take the time to carefully position it. Maybe it's because my uterus tilts backwards instead of forward and has some effect on my countour.

I've had two children, and no doctor ever mentioned having anything odd about my uterus. I do know that my cervix is placed rather long and low, that might have something to do with it?

But I googled both the Keeper and the Diva Cup. I am seriously gonna have to invest in one of those! Think of the obscene amounts of money you would save. Plus it doesn't get pushed all the way in so it wouldn't hurt when you sit, I assume.

Never heard of a divacup either until today--leanr something new all the time. Just asked a friend and she said that another friend of hers, uses a Divacup and Lunapads...had no idea what those are. I think I could deal with the cup but NOT washing out pads..lol.

Found a store downtown here that sells Divacups!!

I can't wear tampons either, they just irritate me. But I have a diva cup, and after struggling a little with my first period with it, I love it. And since it is smooth silicone, it does not irritate me at all, especially once I cut the stem off.

I'm really interested in the Diva Cup.. I think it's MoonCup over here, but I've never heard so many people recommending it before. I might just invest in it.

I had to go through three different cup brands before finding the perfect cup for me. The lunnette large (even though I haven't had kids) is perfect for my flow and body. Ladycup large does well in emergencies though. Mooncup keeper was still a ton better than diva for me. The diva was way too long for my body.

I LOVE cups though. SO much better

I'm kind of with everyone else on this... I found a Whole Foods here that sells them. I think I may have to attempt to invest in one, sounds like its def worth a shot, especially since my periods aren't nearly as bad with the BC. Before I had a miserably heavy flow. Yuck!!!!

However, I did switch BCs and will be finding out this week how that's going to affect my period.

So we'll try the Diva Cup next month!

Thanks for the suggestion... who woulda thunk?!

That sounds just like my situation. The cups work for me because 1) they don't go in as far as a tampon and 2) the "tip" of my cervix can kinda sit inside the cup so it's not pushing against it at all. This means I get a little less space in the cup before I need to empty it... but I can still go about 6 hours on my really heavy days before it's full.

I LOVE my diva cup! I havent used a pad or a tampon in a year and a half. I do find that I had to trim the tip of mine; because it sits so low, if I dont trim it, it pokes out when I sit, and that is uncomfy. But I actually forget that I have my period sometimes! Its that comfortable.

I think the lunette is the one I'm gonna try next. It's a bit more expensive than the diva cup I have, but I hear good things about it. Just have to hide the bill from dh, he will freak if I buy another one...

I LOVE my lunette. You could get it cheaper from leastore (if you add her to facebook and use the facebook 5 percent deal).
