Default is it just me?

or does anyone else sometimes get discouraged in here. I mean, I love having people to talk to that are going through the same things I am, but at the same time, seeing results for everyone else when I am going the wrong way on the scale is starting to make me even more discouraged than before I found this site. or maybe I'm just too negatively competitive???

i completely understand. i get to the point where i gain 4 -5 pounds one week and get obsessed with the scale and then i see these other girls dropping pounds at every weigh in

you just gotta stick to it and focus and it will drop off
normally by the next week the 4-5 pounds i "gained" are gone because i dont give up or give in
ya know?

Hey, don't get discouraged! If you can't be inspired by the successful chicks, then at least get motivated by them!

If it's about competition, that's OK, too. You can go to the Chicks Up For a Challenge place and let it out that way.

I can see why it would be irritating, but you never know what that person is doing to lose weight or what their environment is compared to yours...

I know this might sound bad, but I'll admit to it just for you
I find myself competitive with other females in the 20-somethings that are my height. If I notice that someone else is losing faster, I eat cleaner and work out happier to try and catch up with her. I think of it as good motivation (for me) right now. If I reach goal and am satisfied with what I look like, yet still feel competitive- then I'll evaluate why.... Until then,

I think this is a great way of putting it. I get a whole lot of things out of 3FC. We all come here for inspiration, motivation, to share in our struggles and plateaus.... and to light a fire under eachother's butts if need be!

You are not the only one! I've been posting on and off on here for a while and when I took my last hiatus some of the girls that I was posting with actually reached GOAL... they lost 50 lbs and I had gained an extra 20, BUT... it just went to show that hard work and determination get you there in the long run. So instead of being discouraged and jealous.... I was honestly HAPPY for them and remembered that I didn't put the weight on in a day and I'm not going to lose it all in a day.

This is a great support forum with TONS of sub forums. If you need to take a break for a little while maybe you could find a sub forum that you would feel more comfortable in.

CHIN UP!

Yeah, I mean I get like this, but then I also realize that I'm not doing as well as I can/should be, and it helps kick my butt into gear. Plus, everyone on here is so supportive and not really catty, so that helps. I do really well with encouragement, and that's the biggest thing I get from here, and it helps.

you are not trippin. i get like this too at times when im not dropping as much as i want to and see everyone else reaching and surpassing their goals. its frustrating but i try to look at it like "if they can do it, so can i".

hang in there and thanks for being honest with us.

Even at "goal weight" I get this. I see people my height with lower goal weights and I get competitive again, and I have to remember that even though the scale may have gone up a lb or 2 this month, as long as I'm under my red line weight, this is a good thing! Especially bc in my case I think it means I"m building muscle.

I think sometimes it's hard to post about one's struggles. Some people find it easy to be very open, and some don't. But people do post their struggles on 3FC, and when they do, it is just fantastic. Not only do they usually get more from it than they expect, it is *so* encouraging to the rest of us. It might seem like it would be discouraging - but the fact is, we all go through it, and it feels good to know you're not a freak , you're just *NORMAL.*

I think there's a bit of a posting bias - many of us post more when we are feeling successful, and a bit less when we are struggling

The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone, and we can all get through this together!

I'm working really hard these past few months to avoid jealousy, not just in weight-loss.
Personally, I notice these thoughts creeping up when I haven't been doing my best. Like right now, as people are losing during the holidays and I'm not, its killing me. But I can't place these feeling on other people; its my own fault for not doing what I should be.

I am attempting to remind myself that just because I'm not losing doesn't mean that others don't deserve their success and that I could easily be someone else's source of jealousy.
