Don't mind at all.... I talked with my doctor and I generally flux between 180-190 lbs. Never much over. Definitely not 200 or over in about 7 years. I have had a change in my job from standing all day/moving around much more to a desk job. I have been at my desk job for 2 years, started Junel a year ago... and did ask my doctor if there was a possibility of Junel being part of the factor of my weight gain in the past year. I am NOT blaming it solely on that. It may have nothing to do with it at all, but it is a possibility and she wanted to switch me to Kariva. She said she likes Kariva better because during your period your placebo pill actually has a little bit of estrogen in it, which can help the droopy/fatigued days of your period. She also said Junel/Loestrin CAN cause an insatiable appetite.
Hmmm I take loestrine 24 and haven't (for like 2 years) and haven't had a problem with that but each person is different. I like the loestrine because it has iron in the off pills. Also for a brand name you can get it fairly cheap (My Dr. gave me a card that I take when I get it refilled and it's only 24 dollars).
If weight gain is a problem I also had good luck on Yaz and Yasmine because they contain a water pill in them so help keep the weight down.
I used to take Kariva, and now I take a different generic for Mircette (they just give me whatever generic of Mircette they have at the time). I never had a problem with it, always liked it. I do take it continuously though--I skip the 4th week (except for maybe 3 or 4 times a year--so I rarely have to deal with a period!)
I was on Kariva/Mircette for about 6 years and never had a problem with it. The only reason I switched off it was because I didn't have health insurance for a year and Planned Parenthood doesn't have a deal with that prescription to subsidize the costs, so it would've been like $40/pack out of pocket. One thing the doc there did say - it's often recommended for women who get headaches during TOM, not sure if that matters to you or not. I'm on Lutera now and haven't had any problems with that either.
I was on Mircette from 96 through 05...LOVED IT! never had a problem...no spotting...nuttin....then changed insurance and got put on Seasonal...on it for 2 years with CONSISTENT SPOTTING...hated it..and honestly think it helped me put on 40lbs w/in 2.5yrs...got put back on Mircette in 08 and was given Kariva by the pharmacy...I was on it until the beginning of november...i decided myself (not at the advice from my dr) that I would stop taking BC altogether...i didn't have a sex drive anymore...some nasty spotting...and started getting really moody during TOM...now, I dont know if Kariva had anything to do w/this or if it was just that my body had been on BC for 13 yrs straight, but everything's back to normal...and surprisingly, my TOM came right on time! (i was never normal before the pill and was put on it because i had large ovarian cysts and a period for 2whole montsh UGH) So, anyways, I guess I'm not much help bc I dont really know if Kariva caused those things or not?!?!?!
I agree that every woman is different, so try it out for a while and see how it effects your body
