Today was a failure of gargantuan proportions.

I tracked my calories, aaaand..... 2,861:o:hot::snooty::club:!!! I went to burger king and had a whopper and medium french fries, and that alone came up to 1,100 calories.

Which was really stupid, cause tomorrow is 4th of July and its gonna be EVEN harder to stay on track.

Oh well. What is done is done. Tomorrow id a new day. I really need to get myself seriously focused and lose those last 15lbs!!!

Yeah I have decided I have to jump back on track and drink a ton of water starting tomorrow. I have been off plan today and yesterday. I KNOW i am retaining water and today it just isn't gonna happen. I want OUT of the 140s...by labor Day!!

I have no desire to eat "junk", but sometimes I want an apple AND almonds, instead of budgeting my calories for one or the other. Or sometimes I want to skip a day of exercise and just lay in bed (like today, for example). I know that's ok and you can't be perfect all the time, but I really, REALLY don't want to slip back into old habits of eating too much and being lazy. What do you guys do when this happens? Would you let yourself eat a few hundred extra calories for a few days or are you insanely scared (like me) that this will make you gain weight?

I've been at this for a really long time (almost three years), and maintaining a calorie deficit for so long is hard, not just mentally but physically as well. Personally I've found it to be helpful to have short maintenance periods (like a couple of weeks) where I eat a little more and allow myself to recover. I've never had a problem getting back to a deficit after a break. Once a week I also have a cheat meal where I eat something I wouldn't typically have the rest of the week, like a burger and fries or (last night!) some Ben & Jerry's. It not only keeps my metabolism from slowing too much, but it teaches me to exert self control with tasty treats, which is something I lacked for over two decades. And it keeps me sane... the whole PUSH!PUSH!PUSH!CUT!MORE!CALORIES!LOSE!WEIGHT!FAST! approach is just not for me.

Hello ladies, I am currently 151lbs. I can't wait to join this thread. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi!. Hope to be here by the end of July.

Good luck everybody...

Mmm Burger King :hungry: lol guess it's lunch time for me. Happy to report down to 142..but that means I gained a total of 6 lbs while away. (not so good) That was eating out every day and every meal though so that's what I get I guess. Maybe tonight I will find the energy and will to exercise after my 2 week refusal to do so. How is everyone else coming along???

and i'm slowly creeping back up from 140 a few weeks ago. i was up to 143, then 145 and then a whopping 147 over the weekend. this morning was back at 143, but things are rough over here. i was a solid 140 for several weeks. just want to get out of this decile already!!!

I agree with you 100% about doing a couple weeks of maintenance sometimes. I did that just recently (even though I wasnt TRYING to.... I was actually upset about my slacking off)... but now I realize that maybe it was a good thing. I gave my body a little rest and now I'm 100% back in the game. And you know what? This morning I am at my lowest weight in a couple years! Woohoo!

Hi! I'm joining this thread :) I weighed in at 147 this morning, though usually I weigh myself in the afternoon. Part of me wants to go for broke and get out of this decade, but part of me wants to slow down and try maintenance for a bit.

hiimnatalie 07-15-2009 02:29 AM

Hi. I used to post a lot earlier in the year , but seemed to fall of the band wagon in March. I was at 138.8 lbs at that time, but when I finally stood on the scale on July 4th, I was 152.4. yikes. Since then, I'm now down to 143.4lbs. Cant wait to get back down to the 130s, and then a little more for wiggle room!

forestroad 07-16-2009 04:43 PM

Just checking in...was 146 this morning but "official" weigh-in isn't until Monday.

Kimmie1989 07-18-2009 02:02 PM

As for me, I've been maintaining at 147.8 for a couple days now. Hoping to change that with a great day today.

sandygomez6557 07-18-2009 03:27 PM

I lost 3 pounds putting me at 138! I know it's small but I'm excited!
